The three of them make it out into the jungle, the massive orcs being quite slow on their feat.

Cornelius pants, though the elf seems unaffected in the way they're always unaffected.

"Thank you once again, okay, now to where do we go?"

"An old tomb to make our fortune. It's still a few days travel north of here."

"Right lets get going, shall we? Name's Ornthalas"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,827 ✭✭✭Evade

"I'm Therai, he's Cornelius. Of we go then."

    OOC: Same route as before

A few days of hard enough travel through the jungle pass, though with Cornelius taking the lead they reach their destination as soon as one could hope.

On the morning of the fourth day Cornelius pulls back a large leaf.

"I present to you, the tomb of Thanf, king of the Málëhro"

Therai approaches the entrance looking for signs of recent activity and traps. Once he reaches the entrance he taps his sternum "Time to go to work... hey what's your name? Seems rude I haven't asked the name of someone who's been inside me" and turns his back to the entrance.

"The name is Herraormr" he says while unlocking the door.

Cornelius thinks better of asking about the worm in Therai's back. Ornthalas however feels he must say something.

"Not many can bond with a Málëhro worm, and for a non-elf to do so...I am impressed"

The dead bodies of two dwarves lie outside the entrance, which as it opens reveals five more corpses in the narrow passage leading down.

"It wasn't pleasant at first but I don't even notice him anymore. And he's very useful"

"Seven Dwarves. Now how did they get in?" Therai checks the bodies for any clues to their identities and tries to gauge how long they've been dead for.

They've been here at most a month, cause of death is unclear.

"Last chance to turn back" Therai smirks to his companions as he heads into the tomb.

The passage exits out into a small underground field, contained in a cave, with a few trees growing at the cave walls in an attempt to emulate a bounding forest. The cave ceiling is painted blue, with a large yellow gem as the sun.

    Within the field is:
    A sink hole
    An small marsh
    A Tower
    A Mausoleum
A group of small sticks with papers tied to them
    A ruined house

"That looks like a mausoleum to me so the treasure's probably there but what are those sticks?" Therai heads over to the sticks and tries to read the notes.

OOC: How big are the hexes?

OOC: How big are the hexes?
    OOC: Only about 100ft each

The sticks have small poems tied to their ends. The poems indicate that these are the graves of the king's servants, bound to him in death.

"Huh, well that's any lingering sense of guilt gone." Therai checks out the tower next.

A strange beast, a humanoid figure knitted together from predatory birds, crawls the tower's summit. The door is made of a heavy red stone.

    Cornelius approaches.

"Odd beast that...Ornthalas? It an elven creation?"

"Yes, used to enthrall lower races...humans that is"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,827 ✭✭✭Evade

"No humans here, right?" Therai examines the door to see if it's locked or trapped

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,558 ✭✭✭✭Fourier

The appears neither locked nor trapped.

Therai tries to open the door and looks inside

The door slowly creaks open, inside is a small shrine dedicated to the royal line. The alter contains two heavy looking books, bound in blue leather.

The pews of the this chapel seem to be made from a high quality wood, which remains free of worms and other insects despite centuries without use.

Therai moves over to the altar and examines the books to see if they're valuable and has a quick look to see if there's any writing implements around.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,558 ✭✭✭✭Fourier

The books simply contain reams and reams of poetry and eulogic material to the royal line. Obviously they were seen as gods of some kind. From what he knows Therai would guess the books would sell for a bit to the right collector.

There is a quill and bottles of ink in a cabinet beneath the altar.

Therai squeezes the books into his stuffed to capacity pack and puts the quill and ink into one of his pockets and heads back outside.

He shouts over to his companions "You two found anything interesting?" as he makes his way over to the house.

"Don't go near the sink hole" Cornelius says with a shudder.

Ornthalas walks up behind him covered in green goo.

    "I'll echo that"

The house's door is off the hinges. Within Therai can see the furniture has been smashed up and the word "LIAR" written in green ink across the walls in Primordial.

A bookshelf and a massive four poster bed are the only things still intact.

"Liar scrawled in a bedroom, hmm. Probably said it was the last time or it'll never happen again one too many times" Therai checks the bookcase for anything interesting.

He feels a strong draft coming through the bookcase.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,827 ✭✭✭Evade

"Hey give me a hand with this, I think there's something behind here" Therai tries to move the bookcase away from the wall.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,558 ✭✭✭✭Fourier

Ornthalas helps shift the case with Therai revealing step stony steps down into the dark.

A green light fills the room and behind them stands an Elf clad in monkish grab (OOC: Medieval Friar, not Shaolin).

"Careful now heading down there. It's the king's tomb, be respectful. Pile of dwarves came by earlier. Hasty lot. Dead now."

Therai lightly taps his sternum" What is a cleric still doing down here? One of the Kings servants bound to him in death?"
