Knew I was wasting my time trying. Must have won the quickest DNF prize. Still sick.

Suggested in survey about a split where a morning and evening session. Probably tricker with getting pacers to do times for two sessions but if you don’t suggest you can’t get.

Literally the only negative on what was a fantastic day was the amount of people taking short cuts when running around the bend. I would have thought it was common sense, but people were stepping inside the line constantly. Over by the water jump it was particularly farcical, with people blatantly stealing about 5 metres each time.

Easy solution is to put up that small railing they have at many track meets. If somebody steps on that they twist their ankle, so people will naturally keep away from it.

Personally, I think that would ruin it. Many people who compete in the first session would head off home and not stick around for the evening session. Keep it all in the one, to encourage attendances and people to stick around I reckon.

There were little guide cones, though, wren't there? (Or guide hemispheres? I THINK I stayed inside them ...)

(Apologies if I'm one of the culprits - I'd say for most people it wasn't 'blatant stealing', it was unfamiliarity with track running. I know if I did do it, it was unintentional, so I'd give others the benefit of the doubt too.)

Ah yeh, I wouldn't be going DQing people when one of the goals is to get people doing track. Railings going forward will just stop people running on the inside. Not blatant cheating, and likely unfamiliarity, but then again it seems like common sense to stay in the lane. I saw one guy in my race overtake somebody by stepping inside.

I don't think that track has them. They're usually up on the straights all the time, if they exist.

The thinking was more people who could run say 9-11 but couldn’t run at 5-7 or other way around due to family commitments.

perhaps too complicated for track newbies, but if the numbers increase, might be worth thinking about staggered starts for some races. For example, if you have an 18 minute and a 17:30 pacer, start the 17:30 group in lane 5, cutting in when they reach the straight?

PB is 34 years old , on track through 3k in 10:12, as my core temp increased I leaked time on the 4th k in particular, finished ok passing a few in the last 2 laps as others also suffered. 2 secs off a season's best, so relatively happy.
Great to paced by the Claw, will hopefully do it more justice next time.
