She didn't help the backbone of Britain mainly the industrial element in the North but those jobs weren't going to last anyway, now we see that with the global warming movement. If she didn't do it someone else would have. No Prime Ministers has  reversed it or even tried.

True, absolutely. There is no turning back time.
But she failed spectacularly in bringing new industries and different economic investments into any region outside the SouthEast.

Germany went through similar in the 80s, there was no point in keeping mines and foundaries open. But investment was brought to the industrial areas, money was put into education and upskilling the workforce, and while the transition was not easy, it did happen.
No transition happened in places like Stoke on Trent, there's no recovery, no investment, nothing.

Graham Lenihan has been accused of being transphobic. I was thinking similar when watching the IT Crowd the other night.

Hypocrite from his overly sjw beliefs .... is his tantrum over twitter over yet

I thought he threw a tantrum and deleted his Twitter on principle. So much for that...

Lasted about a month before crawling back with his usual diet of belittling and bullying. Don't dare have the temerity to question his musings, he doesn't take well to folks who don't share his views outright.

He will always have his impressive CV to fall back on but these days he is a one note nasty bore.

Don’t wish him ill but I’d like him to be taken down a peg or two with his arrogant, pc, bullying ways

Oh Dear, how unfortunate. That's the thing about witch hunts, people think they're safe because they're a part of it but the loony mob will denounce them just as easily.

    And they are loons

Are all trans activists humourless pedantic headbangers who are obsessive about labels?

Since no one seems to be able to name some good right wing comedians. Lenihan is right about this.

Plenty of suggestions given by posters. Still humour is subjective...

Now now. You know full well that the original libertarians are left wing. Libertarian socialists.

You also know that there are broad swathes of “the right” who’s mission it is to interfere in what consenting adults do.

Generally the left see it as the exploitation of women and libertarians by their very nature would be far more right than left.

    You’re confused.

You’re confused. The word “libertarian” has been hijacked by laissez faire capitalists to make their ideas seem far more palatable than they are.

Ironically modern US “libertarians” have far more in common with classic liberals than anyone. Liberalism was never a left wing philosophy, and really still isn’t.

So yeah, both “libertarian” and “liberal” have lost all meaning.

I'm not sure this is even about comedians. From what I gather Linehan feels that all people on the 'right' lack imagination. This is why they do not make good comedians.

This to me is far more disturbing. The idea that people who hold alternative political views to yours are somehow deficient. The idea that they are somehow 'other'. It seems to be more and more common, online anyhow.

you could turn this around, do comedians suffer more from depression, drug abuse, suicide and if its anything like acting there are a hundred failed ones living in betsits for every successful ones. go comedians yey! :pac:

Excellent point the stereotype of a comedian these days seems to a pot smoking leftie who has a personality disorder, and who wishes he was born in the 60s only with a lot more political correctness.

I have noticed there are very few comedians these days that make me sit up and take notice.
With the exception of Kevin Bridges and Bill Burr (and Burr is a Veteran).
The rest just seem like diluted craic.
Comedy central which shows all the mainstream people just manages to seem safe, forced and diluted all at the same time.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

The issue many had was that she cared little for what happened to these mining towns once the mines were closed. Some of them are destitute now eg. Merthyr Tydfil.

I asked him earlier in the thread for some names of prominent left-wingers who support criminalisation of prostitution. No response...

So is Reynolm's character in the IT Crowd transphobic because he found out the woman he was seeing used to be a man and it put him off?

You asked the thread. Surely in Ireland the support was pretty universal for making the buying of sexual services illegal this year.

Maybe it might be fairer to say that people on the 'right' often use their imagination differently, preferring to create practical stuff (which earns them a reliable living), as opposed to making strangers laugh (which, more often than not, doesn't). I mean, lots of comedians started off on the dole, sleeping til noon and doing cash-in-hand gigs at night - a lifestyle that might not suit a lot of right-wingers.

I can only think of one genuinely right-wing comedian currently working on this side of the Atlantic - Andrew Lawrence. He gets a lot of criticism, but he's not necessarily bad and he has a funny voice.

Jack Kerouc was right wing? Pioneer of the beat generation and progenitor of the hippie movement?

I think we're focusing too much on the comedian aspect, what he said was
Well, as I like to point out, right wingers have no imagination. It's why there are no good right wing comedians or writers.

The second sentence is demonstratively false, and in no way follows from the first sentence which itself is complete nonsense. Still, what do you expect from him?

The second paragraph of the post is a hyperbole exaggeration if the tweet.

Lots of trolling and sh1tposting on twitter isn't that what the alt right are all about? Wouldn't judge a guy on a tweet.
