I suppose if Liveline gets high listener numbers, I dunno if it does, it would make sense for Lunchtime Live to do somewhat well too.

Liveline gets around around 380k compared to Lunchtime Live's ~100k.

Joe earns about €550k p.a. for that (well that's what his company pulls in, I assume Liveline is the bulk of his earnings, he does not seem to do much else thank god)
If the salaries were prorated to listener numbers Ciara would be pulling in €145k p.a. just for her radio work.

Is Ciara still on Newstalk? I flick through the radio stations during the day and Andrea has been on for the last while. Last time I heard Ciara was a good two weeks ago. Didn't hear her mention anything about going on holidays.

Whisper it quietly now, its still Andrea Gilligan doing her thing at lunchtime for 5 weeks now and no sign of Ciara returning.

    Keep going Andrea................

Just give "Cackling Kelly" the elbow and be do e with it . She is dire.

Utter agenda driven men-hating dross stuck on repeat.
Andrea Gilligan is a pro and really shows up the amateur Kelly.

Give Andrea the gig full time.

I've tuned in a few times and find her easy on the ears.
    Andrea that is.

I'd love to bookmark this post somehow for the time when Andrea does get a full time prime time show and once again the majority of comments revert to,

    "This presenter is sh*t."

"No one wants to hear your opinion Andrea"

"Is it just me or is Andrea incredibly annoying? I don't listen anymore because Newstalk is so crap but I have heard every show for the last 3 weeks and I find I'm so glad I don't listen anymore"

    :pac::pac::pac:

Can't stand Ciara Kelly. I'm not gone on Andrea To be honest, her voice is very grating...I think it's just the policy of newstalk now to get all their presenters to generate txt msg revenue from listeners by annoying the fxxk out of them..

Today FM has done the very same, constantly rotating presenters and talking about mindless drivel followed by 'Txt us in your thoughts'... and some nobody has tweeted us in.......who gives a fock...

I was wondering how the Ciara Kelly apologists and fanboysgirls would find a way to attack the above post since it's praising another woman and therefore immune from their usual retort of "Ciara Kelly is totes amazeballs and how dare you criticise her, you are clearly a male sexist pig and likely rapist", but lo and behold they found a way.

Really? That's quality in your world? It explains a lot.

I prefer Ciara Kelly but in general I find phone in format annoying. I think Ciara is better dealing with nonsense waffle than Andrea Gilligan. She is a bit better calling out morons and that probably hurts some deeply.

Go one so, tell me what that "explains". This psychoanalysis of a throwaway comment should be most intriguing.

I forgot Ciara is a Dr, you know, the lowest of the low. How could anyone have anything but the utmost disdain for her.

Sorry for interrupting the pseudo-critiquing of daytime radio.

I'll leave you to it. Carry on.

Which (not for the first time) is not what I said, but feel free to edit my full quote as you wish to suit your agenda. What I said was “she is a GP, the lowest of the low in the Dr hierarchy”; which is an altogether different statement. But you probably can’t see that, can you?

    MOD NOTE

FFS what is going on in radio, every thread is turning into BS. You are all here long enough to not be sniping and baiting each other. Cards from here on out. Give it over.

They tried this phone-in thing years ago with Brenda Power, in roughly the same time-slot. It didn't work. I'm surprised they're trying it again.

JNLR Figures show increase of 3000 listeners. Guess that means something is working.

Oh dear, Oh dear Oh dear

When the Theresa Lowe segment finished today, TH was congratulating Andrea on her presenting skills and the reply was "Ciara is back tomorrow but thanks for that Theresa"

Yesterday Ciara covered the possibility of people with mental illness to be allowed to use disabled parking spaces. I think it is being brought in, in parts of the UK.

I can't think of any mental illness that would make it more difficult to get in & out of your car. How someone would think that this is a good idea is beyond me

She is on about the booze again. She is unhealtely obsessed. Wonder was she or someone close to her a problem drinker at some stage. She is just too focused on it.

She reminds me of Carrie Nation at times.

I can picture her storming into ale houses and attacking crates of porter with an axe.

pity more people aren't focussed on it, considering we're a nation of fat, lazy, unhealthy fcuks with massive anti-social problems related to alcohol.

probably the same fat, lazy, unhealthy fcuks waiting on hospital appointments and whinging about trolley beds in A&E while oblivious to the fact that it's alcohol-related incidents which have the A&Es full for most of the week.

    But drugs are ok?

It's kind of pointless in Ciara having anyone on to talk about alcohol as it just turns into her talking over the contributor (who had 45 minutes to prepare for today btw) and her reading out texts that agree with her opinion.

Don't disagree with her views on it. As a former GP, I suspect that she is well versed on the dangers of alcohol.

We all know that she is and nobody doubts it. It's not a very balanced debate is what I'm saying.
