US considering Preemptive Strike against North Korea.

The U.S. is prepared to launch a preemptive strike with conventional weapons against North Korea should officials become convinced that North Korea is about to follow through with a nuclear weapons test, multiple senior U.S. intelligence officials told NBC News.

North Korea has warned that a "big event" is near, and U.S. officials say signs point to a nuclear test that could come as early as this weekend.
The intelligence officials told NBC News that the U.S. has positioned two destroyers capable of shooting Tomahawk cruise missiles in the region, one just 300 miles from the North Korean nuclear test site.

American heavy bombers are also positioned in Guam to attack North Korea should it be necessary, and earlier this week, the Pentagon announced that the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier strike group was being diverted to the area.

Will North Korea keep calm on Saturday or will they test the resolve of Trump?

A pre emptive strike against the North would have to be big, very big. I don't know if we're there yet. As much as I dislike Kim and Trump, I don't see this happening, maybe if they launch a missile test it might be taken out.

But I don't know about a pre emptive strike.

We should defend our way of life to an extent that any attempt on it is crushed, so that any adversary will never make such an attempt in the future.

Could the ships not take out a rocket if one was launched from North Korea?
Or is it a nuclear test that is feared?

Seeing as there is no 'peace' between the north and south surely any bombing would mean a resumption of war

Seems very strange to me that America dropped it's first MOAB yesterday, on caves in Afghanistan. Those things are ridiculously expensive, why bother wasting it on a few terrorists on Afghanistan?, it's basically playing the worlds most expensive game whack-a-mole.
I think they were testing it out before dropping them on North Korea, possibly as a follow up to bunker buster attacks on the nuclear facilities.

This is what happens when two maniacs clash. Given all indications, it would not surprise me in the slightest at this stage if we seen a nuclear warhead fired by the end of the weekend.

Trump is steamrolling towards several conflicts at once with his ego. Why is he even bothering with North Korea ffs. Absolute moron.

I think Trump is playing his hand pretty well, he's essentially forcing China to act on North Korea, China can't afford a US invasion of North Korea, if the US does attack, China will own the ground attack.
Something has to be done, they can't be allowed to launch Missiles towards Japan, and test nuclear weapons, the US are Treaty bound to defend Japan.

N Korea is remaining defiant over this.

North Korea will not "keep its arms crossed" in the face of a US pre-emptive strike, Pyongyang's vice foreign minister has said.
He also called Trump's tweets about the issue "aggressive" and said that he was "making trouble".

What is the world coming to?

Explain how someone who keeps millions of people in labour camps and does nothing to better the situation of their own populace is the better of two evils?

Mutual Destruction?? Haha, seriously doubt that. You're grossly overestimating North Korea's force projection capability.

If the US does launch a strike on N Korea, which, given their "successful" mission in Afghanistan yesterday, could work out, what would happen in the immediate aftermath. Nuclear war, maybe? How likely is it at this moment that the US will hit North Korea?

BEST KOREA SCHEDULE NUKE TEST SATURDAY,

I think we are past the stage of jokes tbh. Iv'e a friend who works in Seoul and she tells me there is a very strong noticeable increase in tension in the city over what's to come. The South Koreans aren't laughing about Kim Un Fats intentions anymore. As far as im aware even leaving nuclear missiles aside the North have enough artillary pointed at Seoul to kill thousands within hours.

I do hope somehow North Korean military leaders can organise a coup to overthrow their leader before it all goes pear shaped.

Kim has played a clever hand so far. All the sanctions etc haven't stoped him reaching his goal of developing nuclear missiles capable of reaching the US. In fact he has made remarkable progress. Of all the nuclear powers, Kim is the one today that is capable of pressing the button and for that reason Trump knows that he must be stopped now, before he has the capability of wiping out Los Angeles.

Trump does appear to have China finally on board. If he attacks Kim it wont be just his nuclear facilities that he will hit, he will go after Kim personally and all their command and control systems. It will be really messy as the North Koreans are so indoctrinated and they have so many conventional artillary pieces that they will cause huge damage to the south. Fixing North Korea afterwards, either as part of the south or as a Chinese statelet will be expensive.

But the bottom line is Kim, won't and can't be allowed possess the ability to nuke the US.

No chance. Kim has been ruthless in executing any who even think of opposing him. And apparently nobody knows where he hangs out.
Ever notice that when he visits a facility all the generals have little notebooks to write down every word Kim says?

    Posts on foreign websites?

    Snigger.

North Korea is the sick man of the world. Friendless, sitting in the corner, everyone else thinks it's weird. And worst of all, one of those weirdoes with a misplaced superiority complex.

Right, but what makes this latest threat any different. NK launches a missile test, US says this, that and the other, blah blah blah, then everything is back to square one again. Can somebody not just do something about it before NK upsets the wrong person or makes another big mistake...

No I would say you would have many supporters here, On boards its like anything but America, even if its a fecking lunatic who has been screaming and test firing rockets & missiles for years now, Its about time someone put this Mad monk to bed.

i agree with you and was not joking,

a test is scheduled for saturday,

So tomorrow it is. Neither side will back down. How can anybody state it won't affect us? That's a very narrow minded view. Nuclear war would be catastrophic for the whole planet. Destruction, death, destroyed economies. I believe we are now at the closest point to all out nuclear war since the cuban missile crisis.

It seems hyperbolic writing that, but I am taking into account we do not have rational thinking people in power.

The price or expense of war does not enter into it, Sure hasn't India & Pakistan got nuclear weapons & quite big armed forces yet they find it hard to feed there populations.

How will there be a nuclear war? North Korea don't have ICBM's, there's nothing to suggest they have miniaturised warheads to launch against anybody.

You could be right, but what can one do ? NK has to be brought down, Every month there dear leader is getting more brazen & crazy,he murdered his own brother last month for being disloyal, Its now or never with him, I rather it now.

Except that they are making very rapid progress and having nuclear missiles capable of striking California is coming up fast.

This was Obama's strategy. He hoped China would do this, but Kim basically ignored them.

What N Korea needs is a coup. A coup that will actually work this time. Turkey was a lot less harsh than NK with their coup, and even now a Turkish referendum might change all that...

Back to NK, the soldiers and the people need to rise up and do it now.

Come to think of it, now that I have posted this, I probably will never get into NK ever, not that I ever intended to go there. However, that might change if the dictatorship is overthrown, which is unlikely to ever happen!

Try reading out America's charge sheet...genocide, slavery, imperial wars, concentration camps, wars of aggression, nuclear attacks, chemical weapons use on a vast scale (agent orange), using depleted uranium, using phosphorous, more wars of aggression, supporting genocide of Palestinians both by weapons supplies and at UN.

He made a point in Syria, that chemical weapons wouldn't be tolerated. It was a measured response, Russia were warned in advance to avoid casualties, I think that was a smart, reasonable thing to do. It made the point effectively, drew attention to the issue, but didn't draw the US into the wider conflict.

Here again with NK, now is the time to stop this lunatic, and the US response is drawing China in to correct it. There's a carrier strike group heading to NK, not an invasion force, maybe nothing will come of it, but the point is made that China need to act one way or another now.

Kim wants to keep his populace enslaved in 2017. They deserve better.

China does not give a fock about America and will not be dictated to by them..if it comes to war they will support North Korea.

And China has the technology to sink that piddly little carrier group in a few hours
