I called them and asked if my plan was increasing they said no. 2 days later I get a text saying its going up by €25 a month! Good riddance.

My plan isn't changing in price, although they are technically changing terms and conditions. I have asked ComReg and they said that technically Three are changing your T&C's so you can leave. Three keep telling me I'm getting more for the same price, but I should be legally allowed to leave my contract. Reception is terrible so I want out and this seems like a genuine avenue of doing so. Has anyone got out of their contract despite no price change?

So make a note of when you contacted three and comreg and them make a complaint to three asking to get out of contract for the reasons that comreg gave you. Use three's website the contact form and choise complaint from the drop down list. Make it quite clear that you are taking no **** (in polite terms) and that you are making a formal complaint and will be following up with comreg.

Then wait and see if three don't play ball in 10 working days pass the complaint on to comreg.

I also not pay three for more than 30 days from when you first contacted them to get out of contract.

Edit> don't forget to make a copy (copy and paste plus screenshot) of your complaint because three don't give you a copy probably on the bases that you might forget all about it.

Myself and my colleague are on a business account. We're both eligible to get out of contract. We have no upgrades available on the account at present.

What I'd like to do is leverage this opportunity to cancel our contract and re-sign a new one to obtain a Samsung S8. Has anyone any advice on how to do this?

I went into a shop and the person there told me to move to SIM only first and, after that, sign a new 24-month plan... Sounds a bit unnecessarily convoluted to me, but perhaps I'm missing something...?

    Thanks I'm advance!

i tried this , was canceling 2 numbers ,and explained that i could sign up with 4 numbers , the lady was very abrupt, and said i couldnt resign up for 90 days ...so yesterday 4 of my numbers went with vodafone .
you have to have this done by the 24th by the way

Would I be better going into a Three store. Have they the ability to do it there?

Thanks - so we can't just cancel our contract and then re-sign again immediately?

I cancelled my online last night through the online chat, only took a couple of minutes. I have until the 25th May to set up with a new operator in order to keep my number-not sure who to go with but thinking Virgin.

I was told the same, they added this extra requirement (SIM only for 1 month) this time around to discourage people to cancel and go back to a new contract, just to get a free phone.

Yes they do. I cancelled and resigned up on a lower plan in the shop and got a new phone for free.

Just got this text, seems 3 are softening up a bit...

CONTRACT CHANGE: From 19 May the EU data roaming allowance is increasing from 2GB to 5GB, when you top up by EUR20. All You Can Eat Data remains for use in ROI. From 15 June we are reducing the EU data roaming rate from EUR1.01 to EUR0.0092 per MB when you are out of allowance. Both changes are in line with EU roaming regulation. For more information about these changes to your prepay service see http://bit.ly/2rmESWF From Three

You didn't need to drop to a SIM ONLY plan first or anything? Was it just "Hey, I want out. OK, now I'm out of contract, I want back in for the €45 a month for 24 months, here's €200 to start for my iPhone 7 please"...?

I made those numbers up, but was that generally it? They tried to get me onto a SIM only plan first for "a while".

No not at all. I went into Grafton Street first and the guy actually suggested doing it that way. I was talking to them because I was only concerned about my phone upgrade (my phone was awkwardly in a shorter contract than my bill). I would be resigning as a "new customer".

So I went into a different shop a few days later with my passport and proof of address. They knew exactly what I was doing so she officially 'cancelled' my contract. She said it would take 20 minutes for my number to reactivate or port or something (I can't remember what it actually was) so I went away and came back and she had everything sorted. She gave me a new sim card and the new phone and that was it.

I am contacting about the increase in contract by 5€.i am a business account holder with 2 numbers, I was never notified of this and never received a letter despite it being 'sent' I only seen the increase in my bill last week and contacted 3 asking to cancel my contract but was told I am out of the time frame. I will not be paying my bill as I did not agree to this increase and want my contract cancelled for free I will switch to a pre pay sim. But I was not notified nor did I agree to any rise in my contract. I have contacted the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and have been told I am 100% in the right. I also am not paying my bill due to the increase. Direct debit is cancelled tnx

Has anyone had any problems when they cancel and ported? My girlfriend moved to meteor 3 days ago after she cancelled, she has ported and has sms and internet but can't make or receive calls, the phones signal goes when an attempt it made to. Meteor have blamed Three? Have gotten a 2nd sim card too just in case and same story. Strange. The phone is definitely unlocked, my vodafone one works perfect.

Cancelled and moved to sim only nearly a month ago. Picked up the new sim yesterday. No problems with moving over except the people on webchat didnt mention that the sim-only plan starts on the day you pick up the new sim. So I'm paying twice for the next 5 days.

Last day for me to decide if I will cancel (on or before 22/05). I'm happy with three's signal, but not happy with the €60 a month. Thinking of going SIM only. I take it that the only difference is that you won't get a hand set upgrade on sim only, other than that it's the same?

If it's only the hand set upgrade, then I guess you will save €360 every year,(€720 every two years), which would cover a good handset. I'm not really bothered with the latest handsets, so don't change that regular. Have an S4 which I'm happy with bar the battery life at this stage. So happy enough with android. Only thing is that my son likes to have a decent (not the latest) iphone. I used my last o2/three upgrade to get him a iphone 5s a year last Christmas.

I guess you have to look at it two ways. Stay with the €60 a month and get a new phone every couple of years. Or go sim only and fork out for new handsets out of the savings.

How often are you usually entitled to a new handset on the €55/€60 a month contract (assuming little or no extra spend per month)?

Have any of you guys gone the route of SIM only and buying your own handsets. Did it work out more expensive in the long run?

your other alternative is to go sim only, wait a little while and then go back to a €60 a month contract with a new handset. when was the last time you got a new handset from them?

Last upgrade was Christmas 2015. Looked online there now and it says I'm not eligible for an upgrade. So unless they make me an offer I ca't refuse to stay then sim only sounds like the way to go.

Is it every 2 years for an upgrade on the €55/60 contract?

it has usually been every 2 years for me on a similar contract. If you do go sim only (and there is no reason you shouldnt) then dont be in a rush to get a new sim card if they tell you that you need one. Wait until your billpay contract is due to expire

Perfect thanks for the reply. I think I'll go Sim only if I can get through. I'd imagine bar the latest iPhone or the "S" series Samsung you could get a very decent android phone for less than €360 (the yearly savings)?

Once you move to sim only the upgrade will be there online shortly after.

Are you saying best to move from the €55/90 contract to 30 day sim only over web chat, rather than phoning up?
