Sergio going well today in Portugal, 3 off the lead - early days but it would be nice to see him get something going for a day or 2

Jon Rahm being interviewed after his round today asked about potential Ryder Cup partnerships replied.. "I'm a pretty easy going guy".

    Said absolutely nobody else, ever.

I may be interested. I’m going Friday and Saturday but the missus comes on the Sunday for her birthday so I’ll have to somehow delay me meeting her!!!

Send me a PM if you want.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Rory and Rahm playing football together. They could make a whole heap of birdies

That Golf is Boring ad on Sky is horrific, whoever came up with it should be fired.

It's reminiscent of Clifford Reid's "stop the paedophiles" European election poster from the start of the century.

Agreed. The only thing casual sports viewers will remember from it is "Golf is boring"

I know it is hard to know from the outside

But Thomas Bjorn does not come across as the most inspiring leader ?

He was always a dire miserable head on tour.

Does it make much difference anyway ?

The average world ranking of the Americans is 11 compared with 19 for Europe.
For the first time the entire world's top ten are competing at a Ryder Cup.
17 out of the top 18 are there.
For the US, all bar Mickelson are in the top 17 in the world....

I just had a look at Poulter's Instagram story showing the size of the seating area by the 1st tee. It will seat 6,900 people. For comparison, Hazeltine two years ago had 1,668 seats. There's going to be some atmosphere there!

I think winning this event away from home could become increasing difficult.

    The course
    The Crowd
    The Course set up
    Home team facilities etc

Will be interesting if this is more evident , even with a very strong US team.

You're right, the away team dressing room is a state!

I think the Ryder Cup is bull****

But you buy into it for the week that is in it.

    The Sky hype works.

The Sky hype is a pain in the ass; it was a great event long before Sky came along.

Watching Medinah here on Sky with Poulter

was bizarre Tiger conceding the last putt to hand europe the win.

    Molinari had a tricky putt.

The depth in the US team is scary. In contrast, Europe will rely very heavily on Rose and McIlroy, they will both likely play 5 times each, whereas Furyk can afford to rest players without weakening things.

That said, I'm expecting big things from Fleetwood, Molinari and Rahm this week. And I think Olesen will surprise a lot of people.

Interested to know what you guys are thinking the pairings will be for Europe ? It's a head Scratcher! only a couple of pairings i think will be nailed on !
    Rose / Stenson (foursome)
    Noren / Stenson (fourballs)
    Rahm / Garcia (fourballs)
    Poulter / Rose (fourballs)

I jeep thinking that, but then the form for Americans isn't all that great. Mickleson is in poor form, Reed has done little to nothing since April, Watson wouldn't be striking fear into anyone.

I know the European team has their own weaknesses, but this American team shouldn't be taking anything for granted.

Id guess the first morning 4balls may look like the below?

    Rose/Stenson
    Fleetwood/Molinari
    Rory/Rahm
    Poulter/Hatton

Expect all 12 Euros to play on day 1, Bjorn has always insisted this is important, lets see if he follows through...

Think Rory and Rahm would both be served better by playing with a steadier player. McIlroy/Molinari and Rahm/Garcia might be my pairings I think.
