agree there, his wrestling is his ace in the pack but I feel with eddies wrestling pedigree thats gunna be nullified a bit! honestly think either fight is a winnable fight for conor though, both are very slow on the feet and eat a lot of shots!

One does not simply "nullify" Khabib's wrestling.

I'd score that 29-28 The Bear. Would be interested to see how he would've fared with a full camp.

if khabib was actually as good as people say he is the horcher fight shouldnt have gotten outside of two minutes, sure he looked unreal against rda, but that was 2 and a half years ago, and the one fight hes had since he looked crap, My prediction is eddie stuffs a few takedowns, finishes him standing, and the khabib myth is finally over

I can't verify this with a link or a source.

I've been told by a journalist i trust over PM that he has seen the Tickets On Sale posters about an hour ago and Conor v Eddie is the headline event and Weidman is on the card.

I know posters can be changed, so that's not exactly cast-iron - but he doesn't have much reason to lie over a PM and the timing would make sense for those posters given the press event is Tuesday.

He wouldn't say specifically but he also said there's 3 title fights on the card. Which leads me to assume Joanna v Karolina.

The rest - he's adamant as things stand it's Conor v Eddie and both have a belt over their shoulder.

Ok, so Joanna v Karolina has just been confirmed for ufc 205 by Joanna herself.

So, i'm even stronger in my belief now that Conor v Eddie is headlining.

The same way tony ferg shouldnt have been dropped so many times by a late replacement, it happens. Khabib will win the belt and hold it for a long time imo.

    The Khabib myth?

Before I answer that, what exactly is the Khabib myth in the posters opinion?

"People say ‘go with the flow’ but do you know what goes with the flow? Dead fish."

Flinging around Abel Trujillo an Intercollegiate wrestler to post the most takedowns in a single UFC fight was pretty impressive

Conor fights at 155 drops the belt and wins he will have to face khabib.

Maybe he wants to get the two belts at once then drop back down to 145.

I was all aboard the Khabib hype train two and half years ago but that's it, it's been two and half years with one fight! Injuries take their toll on the body. Sport is littered with injuries cutting short careers/stopping guys from being able to compete at the highest level when they're still young. I'll be interested in seeing how Khabib does against the top guys now. I hope he's as good as he was but I'm not convinced he will be.

And if he does win the belt, how long before he's injured again and another interim belt is rolled out.

That's definitely what he wants, to defend 145 once and most likely vacate. After he fights at 155.

I'd enjoy that, Khabib should be fighting someone relevant in a title eliminator first. In 2.5 years he's fought Darrel Horcher. In the same time frame Conor has fought Poirier, Siver, Mendes, Aldo and Diaz x2

Does he want to even go back to 155.

Will he get the belt drop defend at 145 then retire.

I think he only has a few more fights left.

I definitely agree here,he has been out with injuries his last fight was no barometer of anything,i heard him say in recent interview about distractions a problem for him at home which reading between the lines means anytime he spends in Dagestan he is partying hard.

I definitely would have loved to see him fight Ferguson or someone like that but we will see,his wrestling we all know about but his stand up is not at the level of a lot of the other guys around him,so if he finds himself in a fight where it goes deep and he cant get the guy down anymore most of the guys around that division closely ranked to him have way better stand up than him.

    Who could blame him.

Becoming the first UFC fighter to hold concurrent titles in two different divisions would be special enough, but to do that at Madison Square Garden........ just makes it an even more attractive proposition.

Yup, his striking isn't as good as some of the other top guys and his only top tier win is against RDA, he has some solid guys on his resume but he hasn't blown the doors off a stack off top 10 guys, just the one.

If he doesn't fight Alvarez, him vs Barboza, Johnson or Chiesa would be good to see.

given the environment he comes from both culturally and religiously I'd doubt partying is a distraction in Dagestan, maybe in AKA.

Not hating on khabib in anyway I liked him as a fighter, just dont get how guys can see still see him as this mythical beast after two years out injured and one fight against a nobody that he struggled in. I'd be as skeptical if any other fighter had the same set of circumstances and walked straight into a title fight.

They aren't all monks out there man i wouldn't disagree about how unbeatable he is but they party and have fun out there like anyone else.

Just recently one of his mates wrecked his car in what looked like a drunken race.

Dana has said that he wants Alvarez vs Khabib, and Conor vs Aldo. EH also says Conor reckons he can fight even with his supposed foot injury.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/upcoming-ufc-fight-schedule-a-bit-of-a-mess-174219240.html?soc_src=mail&soc_trk=ma

So it would appear that both Conor and Alvarez are hedging their bets on holding two fights hostage in order to fight eachother, while Dana is essentially telling them that they're not getting on the card if they don't fight who he tells them to, unless there's still more to this than what's being disclosed.

With the announcement of a presser for Tuesday, it would seem that either a resolution is close on both of those fights, or the UFC have another main event in mind which they've managed to keep under wraps while all this drama has been playing out, thus enabling them to tell both McGregor and Alvarez to f*ck off.

I still hope for the super-fight. UFC 205 needs to make history with its fights as well as its venue, and neither Aldo v Conor or Alvarez vs Khabib seem to accomplish that.

Could they go with Khabib vs Aldo? :pac:

yano the way diaz and mcgregor are due a hearing over bottlegate? is that just for fines or would there be the possibility of a ban on the table?

In a way this is 200 all over again. Expect a Brock type announcement on Tuesday.

One thing i've thought since 200 is everyone will have to be very careful how they negotiate because they showed they'll big man even conor and it is in their interest to in the long run.

wonder will we see a certain canadian former champ? wouldnt surprise me in the slightest, have him in a title eliminator for the winner of wonderboy v woodley (wonderboy) :D

Just watched all of his Ufc fights, he really is something else - we should enjoy him while he is still fighting cause we won't see the same from an Irish fighter probably in our lifetimes

Nope, he won't be back til December because of the 4 months USADA requirement.

He could in theory get an exemption, but he has said he won't. Given his stance on doping, I can't see that changing.

To soon for him I'd say. He already said he wants to be in the usada testing pool for the official length of time, Four months I think, before fighting again.

A suspension for either would be hugely unlikely based on what I've read about the situation and how these things are dealt with. Big fine and community service, that's the probable outcome.

aye id doubt mcgregor will get one but I wouldnt put it past Lundvall throwing the book at nate after the whole thing with nick, especially as he was the instigator

suppose it is highly unlikely, wishful thinking I suppose! does gsp still have the champions clause in his contract or does that expire when a new champ is crowned?

It expires. That's why the UFC wouldn't strip Randy of the belt during his contract disputes back in the day. If they stripped him, he would be out of contract and could do what he wanted. By keeping him as champion they were able to enforce it.
