Did Dillion's tweet mean Aldo was given the fight but turned it down maybe?
"When it's time to pop they a no-show".

Yeah this is spreading like wildfire now, seems to be legit.

If Aldo was offered the fight then I don't think UFC can strip McGregor of the 145 belt.

Surely offering the interim holder a shot at the title is enough to warrant holding on to it.

I don't think they're stripping him of the belt regardless of whether Aldo was offered the fight or not. Conor being a two-weight champ at the same time is money, and as has always been the case with the UFC, money trumps fairness, if only slightly.

If it is indeed true, I hope we get Aldo-Pettis on the card also.

Be interesting to see what happens with Khabib in all of this, after what Dana said. And not to forget his hoards of zombie "KHABIB TITLE SHOT" fans.

If Aldo wasn't offered the fight then that's some loss of face for Dana though, considering all he had to say about Conor either defending the belt or relinquishing it.

That's nothing new for him though, the man seems to have an awfully short memory, there ain't no contradiction like a Dana White contradiction. :pac:

Really though he just says what he has to until it comes to the point where financial decisions have to be made, and that often makes him change his mind on things (but it's really the owners who make these decisions, he's just the loud fella trumpeting them). Maybe this will change with the new owners, perhaps they're a lot more decisive and consistent than the Fertittas. Time will tell anyway. Hope McGregor keeps the belt for the possibility of making history at MSG but I'm biased towards him so I'm not awfully interested in the fair option in this case.

If Alvarez pulls out before the fight no way in hell should Conor agree to fight Khabib on short notice. Hypothetically speaking.

Taking into account the 8-10 million dollars he will earn for this fight??

    Its graaaaaaand.

Id say it could be fairly close to double that with how well id imagine this will sell. Could possibly see a 5m disclosed payout also.

Do you reckon? That would be unreal!!

I would be delighted for him. There is no doubt about it, and this fight announce ment is further proof, He does indeed own the game.

Anythings possible after the 3m from 202, would be madness, could argue the magnitude of the event etc that he deserves it which could be fair enough hes gonna put the arses on seats and sell ppvs.

Can't wait to hear how this all played out. And how Dana is at the presser. Unusual for Dana to back down so will be interesting to see how the whole Aldo situation played out.

Dana does what the f#*k he's told now!

I'm thinking other than Aldo turned down the fight for some reason, then perhaps there was some kind of compromise reached whereby Conor has maybe agreed / signed a deal to fight Aldo next fight no matter what happens at MSG. Dana announcing that the Aldo / McGregor rematch is set for March, win or lose, barring suspensions and injuries, would save him some face I feel.

Otherwise though, if there was no such reasoning behind why Conor's being given a shot at the 155 belt while also not being stripped of the of the 145 one, then I can see Dana getting a hard time as to why he backtracked.

Already I see rumblings of it as Ariel has tweeted saying he understands Khabib's anger.

I'm calling it now. UFC 209 Mcgregos vs Diaz 3 for the LW belt.

it pains me a little what the ufc has become..

The likes of Fergson, Khabib, Holloway have no chance of ever getting a title shot.

Khabib, maybe. The other two - no chance. Maybe Holloway/Aldo for the IC

Who does Khabib fight now? Does he go back to the original bout of him v Ferguson?

It doesnt matter who he fights...he should do a woodley.....sit the **** down and wait. Pray to Allah he doesn't get injured in the process of sitting down.

If McGregor wins the LW belt I think he'll vacate the FW one, Aldo v Holloway for the belt.
