therein lies the problem. stars like this dont just come around all the time. look what they tried with north sagecutt. These 'stars' have to perform too.. Mcgregor ticks all the boxes. He is in the driving seat because he makes the UFC millions that no one else would. If he doesnt fight they wont get paid as much, so they are going to hold onto him for as long as they can.

this isnt directed at you devore but I dont know why people care so much about fighters being greedy...pay them billions for all I care. What difference does it make to us. If your going to complain about fights not going ahead because of a fighter asking for more, blame the UFC for not paying them!

Brendan Schuab saying it was Alvarez' demands for more money which nuked the negotiations at the last minute:

    http://www.punditarena.com/mmaufc/jmurphy/top-mma-journalist-reveals-breakdown-mcgregor-alvarez-ufc-205-negotiations/
From what I hear, Eddie Alvarez was complaining to the UFC brass that he wanted more money to fight Conor McGregor. He wanted pay-per-view points, he wanted a certain amount of money and the UFC, you know Joe Silva’s going out on his shield, were like, you wanna do what?

Looking at the whole picture… if Conor wants that 155 belt, now he’s gotta get through Khabib Nurmagomedov. Who’s gonna beat that guy? Unless he beats himself. Unless he gets injured, no one’s beating that guy. I don’t see it happening, not even close. And for Conor, it’s the worst match up at 155.

I think for Conor, it’s a tough fight, but I can see him beating Eddie Alvarez. Khabib? I mean that guy’s gonna be the champ.

It’s very short sighted by the UFC. Pay Eddie more money. What do you guys fu*king care? Madison Square Garden, how much money do you need? Pay the guy more money. Unless he’s asking for like 10 million or some ridiculous number… It’s very short sighted.

Khabib is a beast but sitting out two years has done wonders for his rep. He is not the invincible machine that people think. He probably will be champ, but the way people talk about him, you would think he's the GOAT.

Exactly in his last fight against that part time fighter, who worked as an Engineer Khabib didn't look that impressive. I remember Khabib rag dolled RDA for a few rounds but he is definitely beatable imo, he might beat Alvarez but I wouldn't be surprised to also see Alvarez win.

agree there, his wrestling is his ace in the pack but I feel with eddies wrestling pedigree thats gunna be nullified a bit! honestly think either fight is a winnable fight for conor though, both are very slow on the feet and eat a lot of shots!

Can someone explain to me how a bout agreement deadline for Alvarez has passed when the main event hasn't even been set yet i.e presumably the main event bout agreement for whoever will end up headlining hasn't even been issued yet? Ufc playing hardball?

You'd gather the UFC had given Alvarez their final offer and gave him till a certain time to accept which he didn't. Bout agreements for 206 are most likely not signed yet (maybe by Khabib :)) but the UFC made the public their matchmaking intention and whose court the ball is in (Eddies). Seen to be dodging fights is a sure fire way to dent a fighters image.

The bout agreements for the main event have been sent surely as there's a press conference Tuesday in which Dana hopes to announce not just the main event but the complete card.

Is it possible that all this media drama is a ruse to throw everyone off what's really happening, and that Dana, Alvarez, McGregor etc are all in on it?

people seriously overrate khabib, he has one good win under his belt and was out of action for a long time. he's a terrible striker too and gets hit a lot.

I heard the same theory for UFC 200.

This all has a similar feel to it as 200. Dana trying to use his muscle. Not gonna end well for Eddie I think.

Yep, agree with that but he#s not just demanding more money (and a bigger % of the pie) for himself but he's leading a sort of revolt amongst other fighters who want a similar jump up in their pay. That's the danger for the UFC, if he emboldens the other fighter to ask for (what some consider) their just deserts he becomes a bigger problem than just his own costs (which are covered by his ridiculous drawing power).

Yep, I would agree with this, I think the fighters are well unpaid but when there is no union and basically no other game in town its difficult to organise and unionise. Anyone who stands up for themselves, and who's not McGregor, is seriously risking getting benched because there's plenty more fish in the sea who are willing to fight for "the exposure" and a few grand.
There should be a Nevada Commission mandated minimum % for the fighters to avoid exploitation which is basically whats happening atm.

Any ideas on what's really happening?

I'd say they cited Conor injury keeping him off the card to confirm him and NY won't be happening other than that whatever about twitter I'd say it's highly unlikely they'd use the UFC tonight on Fox platform to spout BS.

I'm not sure I follow. What do you mean the bout agreement for whoever will be headlining hasn't been issued yet? What are basing that on?

I'd presume that's the bout agreement that Eddie declined to sign. It's 6 weeks out, fighters would have received offers weeks ago.

Woodley v Wonderboy will headline now.

    I'd agree with a mandated minimum %.
But a % of what though?

I can't verify this with a link or a source.

I've been told by a journalist i trust over PM that he has seen the Tickets On Sale posters about an hour ago and Conor v Eddie is the headline event and Weidman is on the card.

I know posters can be changed, so that's not exactly cast-iron - but he doesn't have much reason to lie over a PM and the timing would make sense for those posters given the press event is Tuesday.

He wouldn't say specifically but he also said there's 3 title fights on the card. Which leads me to assume Joanna v Karolina.

The rest - he's adamant as things stand it's Conor v Eddie and both have a belt over their shoulder.

Eddie's denying he asked for too much dough anyway, and he's still hashtagging 205... though that could've just been cause the accusation was regarding it I suppose.

Bottom line Conor is in camp right now.

He's not putting any pictures up on Instagram or Twitter because he's got the Technical suspension and there's no point antagonising the NSAC ahead of the Disciplinary Hearing in 17 days.

He's in camp. He's training. Gunni is here. Dillon Danis is heading out in a few weeks to prepare for Polaris and join the camp.

I can't think of a single good reason Conor would be grappling hard sessions all week if he's not headlining ufc 205. Surely he'd be putting his feet up or focusing on other interests.

Its 8 weeks to go, I think the hopes that Conor will be on the card are fading very fast.

If he is ready to go though, there is no reason or amount of money he is asking for not to have him on the card.

Very interesting. If all this actually comes to pass it'll be the most killer card ever.

Conor being in the gym means nothing conclusive really. He'd be in he gym all the time regardless of a fight coming up.
Maybe he's helping Gunni train for his fight in belfast

You assumed correctly. Woodley said their fight was planned to be the 2nd or 3rd last fight on the card but it'll be bumped up if they can't get Conor.

I have it on good authority that Mcgregor has already commenced his fight camp. At this point it's just a matter of deciding who he slays next. Ufc want aldo rematch or else he can forfeit the belt and fight eddie. Discussions are ongoing for the alvarez fight at present. Source - one of the guys In sbg who trains with conor
