    For anyone interested in accessing their Wetek (or any networked device) outside the home, I found an excellent guide on setting up an OpenVPN server on a router running Gargoyle. There is also a guide out there for setting it up on routers running Tomato. Iv never done it but I imagine setup on a Windows OS should be just as easy.

    I bit the bullet and bought a microsd card and installed wrxtasy's LibreElec 7.1.
    So much better and configurable.

    I may take a look at WeTekOS again in the future.

    Hi All,

    Dunno if I should try posting this elsewhere, but thought I may try here. Ive installed libreelec onto my wetek play 2. Trying to setup the tvheadend service, but after I setup a network, and set my tuner to it, after clicking on "Force Scan" it doesnt seem to scan through the muxes. No error comes up and I can't seem to see anything in the logs, they show on the bottom of the webpage. Anyone have any idea's what I should be looking into?

    *it's DVB-S2 and works in android via WeTV.

    Thanks

    Your not using any adblockers etc in browser by any chance?
    Worst case to a reset in LibreElec and try again.

    I've got a corrupt install on my older wetek box (openelec NAND) can some one point me to the files for Libreelec NAND install? On their site it just seem to have the app for installing to SD / USB it's not clear if that can be used to flash the NAND :confused:

    Thought I had the page I need bookmarked , typical can't find something when you need it :P

    Had to do this myself recently. The method of LibreELEC install has changed from when I originally did it.

    Go to https://libreelec.tv/downloads/ and click on 'Download for Windows'.
    This downloads an application which in turn downloads LibreELEC and flashes it to SD. You pick the download type from a drop down menu.

    HTH.

    Cheers for that , process is the same I assume , pin in the reset button on the bottom of the box for 10 second while powering up?

    Are you running android os or Openelec? If openelec you will have do what I'm doing and install Libreelec instead, Openelec is all but dead in the water at the moment and hasn't been updated since april when most of the team left for Libreelec , in fact I'd say hold off on installing it for a bit as they have just gone to alpha on new builds with kodi 17 so they should have that up and running once kodi 17 goes final. If you want to go ahead I think it's possible to simply upgrade openelec to libreelec but I'd prefer a clean install.

    If on the other hand you are running android simply install it from the play store.

    I'm running openelec I'm handy with android but changing the box to libreelec or android seems over my head. Is there any idiot proof guides

    I'm trying to get pvr client in my add on for live tv but it's not there so I'm hoping kodi 16.1 would have it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,766 ✭✭✭RossieMan

    You install it from services.

    Maybe you've already done this, but if not there's a version of LibreElec that lets you update from OpenElec. THere's a video guide here https://youtu.be/0tY91ce0ezI

    Have to say, I've tried several builds including PBnigma and found LibreElec best suits my needs. I don't watch a lot of live TV so recording is my main priority and I've found it very reliable with TVheadend.
    It's a bit of a pain setting up TVheadend compared to PBnigma but it's worth spending a couple of hours on it to get it right.
    Other builds have crashed on me every few days but LibreElec has been running smoothly for several weeks now without a hitch. Another tip I've learned is don't overload the system with add-ons. I have a Firestick for my Kodi needs and keep Librelec exclusively for live/recorded TV with just two paid-for, TV related add-ons for sport and foreign TV for the mrs.

    Just a quick one on TVheadend, have Libreelec flashed to nand now just restored my back up from the SD to it. So had TVheadend all set up but it's 4.0 and I see theres a version 4.2 in the repo is there any benefit to removing one and installing the other and if so an easy way to back up and restore the settings from 4.0 to 4.2 :confused:

    I think 4.2 is supposed to make it easier to setup initially, there's a wizard in it but I just done as normal. The web interface is different too.
    Not sure on any other changes to it.

    If you a backup anyway you could try removing 4 & install 4.2 to see if it'll work. I think it should as long as the file/folder names haven't changed.

    Good point , from flash, restore to being usable again it took no effort, so worth a punt.

    Anyone know if there's a way of securing the wetek play from botnets. The oscam port is shown as visable to everyone on http://iotscanner.bullguard.com/

    In oscam.conf add a username and password to the webif section as follows:

    [webif]
    httpport = 8888
    httpuser = xyz
    httppwd = xyz123
    httprefresh = 30
    httpallowed =
    httpdyndns =

    Change user and password to whatever you want

    You might be able to set the server ip to local loopback 127.0.0.1 too. Not near my own to check that.

    Default is blank eg, listen on all network interfaces.

    Think I'll let mine go - I'm not using any of the other functionality than kodi, so just looking at buying an android box - will let you know, if you're not already sorted..

    Edit: I only got the dvb-t2 tuner, if that makes a difference to you..
