There's a lot to be said about plug and play and wetek boxes make me appreciate it.

Yeah wetek box really ain't plug and play (not many enigma receivers are) but I have learned alot about enigma2 boxes as a result of messing around with this one which will stand to me in future ;) .

I assume it will run android out of the box? I'm not a fan of android on any of these boxes myself so likely won't interest me. Down the road though I'd consider one as a new box and move my current one to another TV once Libreelec support is there for kodi 17.

Support is there but it is in an alpha based release at the moment - https://libreelec.tv/download-temp/alpha-preview/

You tried it ? Not usable at all day to day just yet imo based on Alpha 3 though I'm not happy with Kodi 17 at the minute either. I'm not sure whats going on with Openelec but I think it's safe to say right now even if they / he decides to pull the finger out and get over it Libre will be the one to go for if your box has a tuner in it.

OT maybe but feel quite sad to see whats going on their forums or not given the mess and openelec was where i started, but to not even have a kodi 16 official build by now almost 4 months after the split is damning so say the least.

I have been dual booting for a couple of months now without an issue, until last night!

For some reason it wont let me boot back to the SD with PBnigma on it. It keeps booting to the Android on NAND. No matter what I do, I am pressing the power button on the remote but no joy.

Do I have to flash the dual boot zip again or is there anything else I can do?

If I get it back to booting from the SD card I think I will pick up a separate Android box!

Anyone else have a weird delay when Kodi is left idle and the screen dims slightly?

I pressed various buttons on the remote but it doesn't seem to response / brighten screen for a good 20 - 30 seconds.

Managed to fix my own problem in case anyone else ever has the same issue.

I downloaded this zip file and put it on a usb key. I put the usb into the usb port on the right of the Wetek, near the sd card.

Whilst in Android I rebooted to recovery, when in recovery I selected the update from udisk option. This brought me to a screen where I could select the zip file. It installed and then when it rebooted I hit the power button and it booted into PBnigma on the sd card.

Hey guys. I'm new to this stuff and haven't picked up the jargon quite yet.
But my problem is on Kodi running on Openelec
I use apps mainly for my 'live' TV. It keeps cutting out after a few minutes or stuttering until it drops back to the channel menu? ???
I've got no subscriptions and the movie and box set portions of the other apps work flawlessly. Just the live TV that's causing a problem. I've got 100mps+ Internet and ï anyway adjusted the advancedsettings.xml file and increased buffercache etc...

Your not allowed to talk about those here and I'd edit your post to remove names.

    Hi All,

What do you think of the Wetek 2, is there a Wetek 2S on the way too?

Wondering would the better hardware help with the same problem I'm having as @Basq the taking a while to start up again etc.

Also any update on the release date for Kodi 17, hoping this will help with the PVR.

You can turn the screen dimming off in settings, not sure if that'll actually help, I've never noticed that myself but do get an odd freeze when switching back to the wetek from terrestrial.

I wouldn't touch another wetek tbh, I've no problems setting it up or that, i like tvheadend + kodi even. it's just even when you do you'll still have problems.

Did any of you get 'file system corruption' messages?

I have the OpenELEC box. Tried setting it up on a new TV set and the remote doesn't seem to work, the only supported command is switch on/off. Any tips?

You probably changed the RCU settings. Have you both type of remotes?

Haven't had too many problems myself apart from the not coming back up. Have to power off and power on the odd time (might be the same issue) but once I got my image sorted I just did a backup and can restore.

Anyone know what the major differences between wetek, wetek 2 and wetek2s are?

I am pre-ordering the Wetek 2, which product should I select tuner - DVB-S2 / DVB - C/T/T2 / ATSC? Thanks I am a bit of a noob but just bought a new house so trying to get it pimped up!

S for Satellite, C for "Cable", "ATSC" for arial.

Sooooo looks like the W2 only has one tuner.

W2S will have a better remote with keyboard.

To be honest mate if your looking for this box to run free to air channels or cable channels then your better off getting an Edison OS Mini, Zgemma H2S/H2H or similar for about the same price, but if you are looking for a combination android and sat/cable box then go ahead with it.

Ya it would be the combination of both I would be interested iN

Went and bought the Zgemma H2S last week with a pre-loaded image.
Feels a lot more stable than the Wetek play and EPG is flawless.

Only disadvantage is the lack of Kodi, but there are alternatives like Dreamplex, Kodi direct (can be hit and miss) & IPTV plugin.

Haven't setup Dreamplex yet but will give it a try as an alternative to Kodi maybe.

Think you're better off with two boxes IMO. Next upgrade for me would be something like an Edison or Zgemma dedicated to just live tv and recording. I have a firestivk with SPMC, Kodi, Plex, Spotify and a few sideloaded apps that meets all my streaming needs. The Wetek we bought here can do all of the above plus live tv, but no matter what set up you have it struggles to do it all without glitches.

Would fully agree with the two boxes strategy. I have purchased a Minix Neo U1 and down the road I will pick up a Zgemma.

I am delighted that I got a Wetek with the group buy as I have learned so much (mainly thanks to this thread!) that I feel I can now move on. I would highly recommend anyone starting off to get a Wetek as you can learn the ropes and if it isnt for you, you can sell it on and get your money back!

It could also be re-purposed as a kodi box with libreelec on it or you could put in a 2nd room and use one of the kodi enigma clients/plugin's to stream from main receiver.

Definitely. It's been great for me. I knew nothing last January and despite the frustrations, am delighted with everything I've learned also with the help of this thread.

I bought a Wetek Openelec in the group buy and am only looking at it now. I'm after flashing it over to a wetek play with 1.115 and it updated OK to 1.17. I then scanned satellites in wetek theatre and it found 400+ TV channels and however many radio channels. It came up saved on screen so I backed out of the screen and a picture flashed up for a sec and then the screen went blank. I was moving the mouse around or pressing the back button would eventually bring something back on the display but I was still getting lots of blank screens so I reset the device. I went back in to scan the satellite channels and now it finds nothing. Every menu I go into I haven't a clue about any of the settings - I'm beginning to think I need a degree in satellite communications to work this thing. Does anyone know of any simple setup tutorial anywhere for setting up this box? The wetek videos don't go into any of the actual settings so I'm completely at sea. Any help would be much appreciated.
