The swell hitting Lahinch is gaining energy, the sand bar's are creating a barrel effect over by the reef.
The southerly wind is holding the wave up better.
Not a surfer in sight,I think it's too windy to stand up.
Nice for the prone bodyboarder though.

Motorway is normally ok however coming from Dublin just be careful from S28 to S34 as its bad for surface water , try to keep in fast lane as not too much water on that side

For anyone unsure as to what the fast lane, it is the overtaking lane or right hand lane. Neither lane is faster than the other .

Still looking like there will be a brief window in the afternoon tomorrow for some wintry precipitation (in the form of showers) in the W & NW.

Met Eireann short range model shows a small depression bringing a band of rain into the south this evening. Doesn't look too extensive, but it's more rain where it's not wanted.

That should give quite a dumping of snow on the Wicklow Mountains

Not yet! But it will be much colder than the temperatures we have been getting used to for quite some time. The jet stream is sinking southwards and therefore, bringing the storms or any low pressure further southwards whilst the northern half will be drier - this comes into effect next week.

Shame it's not going further south. Looks like we'll be stuck with cool, wet conditions with slack low pressure systems swirling around us while the cold air stays to our east, west, north...

Raining again here in Cork, Nothing heavy but it's the last thing we need. Also my car today was covered in a thin layer of Salt, no doubt it came down in the rain from the storm, thats never happened before.

The Shannon has been creeping up today at Shannonbridge. From 5.38m to 5.45m. The max height since 1954 (as far as the records go for that gauge) was 5.55m in 2009. So considering it takes the Shannon several days to catch up with what rain has fallen, and with more wet weather expected again over the weekend, it seems safe to say the 2009 level will soon be broken.

I had a look at the Avoca earlier on at low tide and it looked menacing. That rain and when the tide turns later will flood again for sure.
