    Age 26, male
    09 1.6D Fiat Bravo
    Location: Cork city centre.
    No points, convictions etc
    0 NCB, 0 Named (As fresh as you can get according to insurance companies!)

    Liberty - 3800 Fully Comp.
    Boxymo - 1300-1600 depending on excess/km's etc. (Far too restrictive IMO)
    25 plus.ie - 2593 (Standard) - 2737 (Xtra). (2427/2564 - 750excess)
    Acorn - Kennco 2285.47 (250 excess).
    Axa (Direct) - 2594 Compy, 2448 TPFT.
    Britton - 2398 (500 excess), 2110 (1k excess). Comp. 2109 TPFT.
    Campions - 4846 (Comp, Liberty). 3694 TPFP. (3073 comp, 2709 TPFT over the phone).
    Chill.ie - Axa 2430, Asgard 2778, Kennco 3203. All comp. Similar TPFT.
    First Ireland - 2402 comp (500 excess), 2114 TPFT.
    Its4women - 2792(Standard), 3012 (Extra), 2614/2820-700 excess
    Sheridan - Liberty 4861.
    Kennco (Direct) - 2894. (Comp)

    And the quote I finally went for......

    The AA - AXA Fully comp, 1800, 250 excess. (Plus 7 per month for AA membership) (Included named driver who is a relative. Pro tip: Use a parent if they are clean as that will reduce it even more).

    It's worth noting that theAA give one of the most comprehensive policies from what I can see and just happened to be the cheapest.

    For anyone new;
    i) Your address matters greatly.
    ii)Type of car matters greatly.
    iii) Addition of a named driver reduces premium usually but should be a parent preferably.
    iv) Upping excess can reduce premium.
    v) CALL THE INSURERS!! You will get much better quotes over the phone.

    Remember to cancel aa membership if you dont plan on renewing it. they automatically renew it without asking.

    37 year old male;
    Full Irish license held 16 year, 0 penalty points;
    11 years ncb, no claims, no convictions, no accidents;
    2004 Toyota Corolla 1.4 t3 5dr hatchback.

    Some quotes I got;

    1. 123.ie €760 for comprehensive cover.

    2. An post insurance - over €1,100 for comprehensive cover. Consistently the most expensive every year by a long shot despite the amount of crap they push through the door promising you the world. Won't be contacting them next year and possibly putting a no junk mail sign up on the door too.

    3. Allianz direct -
    TPF&T - €427.80
    Comp Cover add - €10.98
    Bonus protection cover add - €11.77
    Driving other cars cover add - €3.91
    Windscreen cover add - €14.70
    Breakdown cover add - €37.80
    Negotiation discount (I drive a tough bargain) subtract - €57.04
    Total - €449.93

    Rang my insurer just now,€420 with all the bells and whistles, underwriter is Aviva.

    Price and Provider: 880 AA via AXA with one named driver . Up 500euro from last year. Went to Allianz after another poster here with same details. Down to 530euro. Will ring back AA and get it down again but why they make me jump through hoops every bloody year is beyond me.

    So it comes around again. Despite a newer car, Allianz have jumped slightly and are not budging (570euro), but the AA won't even quote me, neither will anyone else.

    Now 20years driving experience with no tickets, fines or crashes, my partner is exactly the same, and no one will quote us. WTF?!?

    Well it's that time of year again to lube up....

    Age: 38
    Car type: 171 Civic
    Years driving: 4
    Claims: None
    Points: None
    Full Licence
    Price and Provider:

    Renewal up from €750 for an 05 Honda Jazz to €1045 for the Civic. Some Quotes are ridiculous AXA = €1620, Aliance €1200 or so. Aviva Semi-reasonable at €832, but by far the best so far is BOI at €630.

    All of the above are for fully comp and Class 2 business use.

    I'm going to ask my current Broker to match BOI and see what happens. Otherwise its off to BOI.

    I guess so, I've had a quote from them before but never been insured by Aviva so I would be a new customer.

    I live near a well known rough spot but they're not able to climb the gates.

    I won't overthink it.

    FBD €400 tpft
    123.ie €552 tpft

    Went for FBD as useful €70 less than last year. Lot of insurers don't like the age of my car I think.

    Renewal time :D

    05 Volvo s40 1.8 petrol
    36 years young male (not that the sex matters)
    7 years full Irish license
    8 years NCB

    3 penalty points for speeding in Dec 2015

    123 renewal €750 TPFT
    AnPost €1016 TPFT
    AA €903
    AIB €947
    25Plus €776 (Comprehensive, no TPFT available)
    Aviva - no quote, they claim not to insure cars over 14 years old, but mine failed the criteria straight away, despite not being that old yet. Changing to 08 would give me quotes of 500-700 depending on the car picked.

    Liberty - €804 (TPFT)

    When it comes to Liberty they found a sneaky way around marketing preferences, though:

    445115.png

    You have to accept T&C, Data Privacy and Marketing all at the same time, unless you spot a little link underneath to opt out:mad: Sneaky way. Most customers would fall for it I guess as You cannot continue with a quote without ticking it.

    I opted out of course:

    445116.png

    Be aware of that.

    Have two more quotes coming in later, one from the company group scheme, hopefully they can be under €700... Could be worse I guess.

    Apologies for going ot with this marketing issue, but shame on them tbh.

    As much as I hate the idea of the limitations around BoxyMo, the difference in price is enough to make me consider their poorly reveiwed service.
    Can anyone with experience with them fill me in on possible hidden costs and mainly how much do the top-up KMs cost on average?

    Anyone working in insurance should feel ashamed to be passing on these ridiculous quotes and anyone involved in the fraudulent activities that are supposedly propping up these prices should be stripped of their benefits, banned from roads for life and sterilised to prevent future impacts on society.

    I think starting off with a 1.4 golf doesn't help, i started with a 1.0 corsa. Golfs are very common also so doesn't help the price
    My ex used boxymo, it was grand for the first year, but pain in the ass if you encounter a speed limit less than 50kmh as its hard to drive any slower
    They will do for your first year but there stats aren't accurate at all.

    I agree, however I found it suprisingly difficult to pick up a small engined car in good condition that wasn't either ancient or overpriced. I suppose people keep those cars in the family and pass them down. I did get a very good deal on the golf though. How would a golf being common have a negative effect on the price? Surely a more common car would reduce price as easier to get parts etc?

    I wouldn't be able renew with BoxyMo anyways after first year, as 26 is their age limit. I'm mostly just concerned with any hidden costs they might try and land me with.

    Because its more common, more likely those models to be in a crash. I had a mk5 04 1.9tdi golf a few years. Upgraded to 07 BMW 118d and i got a refund to upgrade, something like €67 back, and when i asked girl on phone, she simply said its not a common car. This was a few years ago

    How much NCB do you have? If it's low they are reasonable enough but if you have a fair bit of NCB it's dear enough.
