So he spent more time on his feet than on the ground.

You can count :) I'm assuming that's what you're trying to tell me since I never said anything in contrast to this

Unless a good chunk is now defined as the majority of the time?

1.36 in the first and 3.34 in the second.

So 5.10 on the ground out of a 9.57 fight

Apologies if this was posted earlier in the thread but it's a good break down of the fight.

Wonder how much his knee injury hampered his training.

Also the media obligations etc he looked wrecked before the fight.

Could argue Chad had none of this pressure to deal with or a bad injury.

What is the official word on this injury? or has it been released yet? I ask because I think they are starting to film TUF 22 almost straight away

    The Ultimate Fighter

So Conor is gonna be the coach of a group of European Fighters and Faber, who trains in the same camp as Mendes, is going to be the coach for a team of fighters from the states and both teams live together in a massive mansion.

The show follows their training, interactions in the house and fights. Can be very entertaining and very dangerous if you are a door :)

Good breakdown of the fight a little long but detailed (between 13:30 - 41 mins):

Enjoyed that breakdown. I think he makes a very fair point re: Conor's taunting too.

    Yeah definitely all valid points.

I always thought that about staying with sbg. Would he be giving himself the best chance with regards to his ground game.

But we know he won't ever change gym and that's fine but some good wrestlers coming in world be good, I think he has a Moldovan wrestler at the moment?

Home from Vegas about an hour ago.

I really can't explain how incredible the trip/fight were. One of those, "you had to be there" moments.

I've been wanting to see fights in Vegas for years now and I got the chance to watch one of our own take home gold. Ok, it may only be an interim belt but it was a phenomenal experience and one I will never ever forget.

I'll certainly watch the fights back once I've recovered but how I witnessed the fights from my perspective and the atmosphere that the people around me created can never be emulated on TV.

It's hard not to like Chad Mendes after his post-fight interview. Made no excuses and looked to have Conor in a lot of trouble at one stage.

The entire main card (and Tim Means/Matt Brown) was incredible. Just a wild night of scraps.

Hope everyone else who went over travels safely wherever you're flying home to.

EDIT: Also got to meet Rafael Dos Anjos and Fabricio Werdum. Talked to them for ages. Couldn't say enough nice things about them.

Really down to earth and I'm sure they would have talked to us all day about fights if there hadn't been a few other people waiting behind us to talk to them.

Hint: I'm the one who's not Werdum or Dos Anjos.

I know feck all about MMA/UFC. And I'll feck off after this post. What if say Chad didn't go for the submission and just stayed on top of Conor hitting him elbows?! Don't think Conor would have being able to get up!? Conor could give him elbows back but chads seemed to have more effect. I'll feck off now. :D

Well the bell would've rang, and Mendes would have to stand up with McGregor again. That's probably why he went for the guillotine. I think he went too early, by his own admission, though. McGregor seemed happy to be on his back once he had his guard on.

Yeah. I'm around that alright. I was stood beside him at one point and he just towered over me. Big dude and extremely funny.

He had been eating beforehand and said the ribs were excellent while giving me a little nudge. :pac:

yeah he looks a lean 13 stone approx. 180-ish pounds.
heavy if fighting at light weight 155, similar cut required to McGregor really.

Conor took a couple of sweet ones to the head because he was actin the b0ll0x, would you advise him to reel that in a little in his next fight?? Surely there's an economics of pain going on and it would be best not to get hit stupidly?

I don't know I think he needed a few smacks to wake em up and also to be taken down. He'll be a better fighter for it going forward. he slipped throwing a punch and I think that upset him a little and he got a bit careless. even though he spent longer on his back in the 2nd, I think he was reigning it in then and starting to realise the gravity of things. ah no harm. when you get hit sometimes only you know if you're in danger, he obviously didn't think so. it was very hairy for a minute or two.

Conor was not only in Chads head but got in his thumb too.

Nope once again you are making things up  I actually said

Max Holloway ...."full camp no camp 2 weeks 10 day 100 days makes no difference"

can you take that on board at all or doesn't he have any clue?

I still cant believe there are people like you who won't accept that shock bloody horror 2 weeks training camp couldn't possibly contribute to Mendes being exhausted, note the word contribute. Kicks had an effect, 2 weeks camp had an effect and adrenaline dump had an effect.

This is pathetic. Luke Thomas was spot on, as long as there are rabid fanboys and rabid haters you will have the above rubbish and none of us can discuss the fight properly.

Some shambolic article by Fergus Ryan in the Independent today talking about payouts etc.

How is quoting someone who knows what he's talking about is not a 'fanboy or hater' deemed rubbish?

Is this what we are reduced to? Max Holloway said something so lets wrap it up and go home? You find me 100 MMA fighters what % do you think would honestly say 2 weeks had no effect? This isn't a difficult concept to grasp and doesn't diminish Conors win at all, it is just a fact. Why do you think Conor thanked Chad for stepping up? Because 2 weeks thrust into one of the most hyped event ever is a helluva task.

I'm not a fighter but regardless of how in shape you may be, it would surely take more than a couple of weeks to get yourself conditioned for a 5 round fight and then there's the weight cut to make.

Not saying that Chad would have had to cut a lot of weight but it would surely play a factor in how the fight played out.

Obviously those body shots may have played a big part but I don't think they were the sole reason that Mendes looked tired.

But look, I can only go on what Mendes said himself in the lead up to the fight. That he's been in training, felt good and was ready.

EDIT: Though Chad obviously had to sell the fight somewhat too. Biggest event in a long time and he's hardly going to say, "I feel like crap. I ain't ready for this".

It's all part of the discussion isn't really, you can take it where you want to.....those arguing the toss are so righteous and on their high horse stating 'facts' that no other view can be taken on board and nobody else has a clue, there's nothing more to be said so as a great man once said, we'll leave it there so
