I completely agree that they weren't fight ending shots. I do believe however, that they winded the f*ck out of Mendes and slowed him down big time.

I definitely agree that a full camp would have helped the guy, particularly in terms of preparing for a striker like McGregor and improving his defence to maybe do a better job of avoiding getting hit to the body and the head as often as he did. Don't think it would make any difference in terms of whether he would get winded if he got hit again with those shots - if he had a full camp and got hit with those, he's still getting winded and it's still gonna take time to get his breathing back to normal after taking them.

Man, you're a piece of work. Getting dropped by a punch is not cowering away? I don't care how long you have watched UFC It Is of no relevance to me and your opinion is looked at in the same way. If McGregor hit me a straight left I would drop and cover up, that does not mean I cowered away from him It means I got knocked the **** out.

Everything else in this comment Is just you agreeing with me. As for your comment on Conor's striking, was It a question I was supposed to address? Conor is accurate, the body blows were a big factor in the fight? Did I ever dispute that?

he didnt get dropped by the punch, he made the conscious and wise decision to go down and cover up because he couldnt take the power.

    mc1.gif

call it what you like, i call it cowering

    mc2.png

right after this mendes goes down and covers up, the punch didnt drop him.

i dont mean cowering in a derogatory way btw, i just mean that they have had enough of it so they hunch over, go down and cover up waiting for the ref to end the pain. Had it not been the end of the round and the herb didnt stop it do you think mendes was getting back up after those punches??

you addressed everything else in that post except that......

I'm a piece of work??? know what i think of you? Nothing:cool:

i enjoy discussing and watching MMA too but it seems you dont want a discussion, you want people to agree with you.

yes, i am a fan of conor but i am more than willing to discuss his downsides like his weakness in wrestling, his showboating, some of the things his says makes me cringe but he is the most successful irish mma fighter to date, of course im going to back him 100%

i get the feeling for you that its not so much the man you have an issue with more so the bandwagoners you perceive that he has brought with him. I dont consider myself one of them, i was in it before conor and ill be in it after but his being irish and so good jsut makes me more invested.

No of course I agree, but everybody knows that, shouldn't take Halloway to convince everyone.

I couldn't agree more, it really shouldn't take that to convince everyone.

Only reason that I and others are mentioning Holloway at all is because people were saying that Mendes gassed in the 2nd round due to lack of conditioning arising from taking the fight on 2 weeks notice and that it was not because he got hit by 4 or 5 good body shots.

Is the bolded a joke? The first picture isn't even Mendes FFS and yes the punch dropped him, jesus.

I have no problem with anyone being a fan of McGregor, say I'm the one who's biased and I have an agenda etc etc etc. But I won be "discussing" with you any further

That was the turning point for me man, that alligator roll won him the fight, was excellent. No doubt had Mendes locked that In It was lights out.

The only point I was making was that the conditioning would have helped him better deal with the body shots.

Ah come on mate, you have got to be taking the p*ss? His legs buckled from under him when the big left connected. He was on the ground, turtled up, barely conscious!

They've fought twice and neither figures came close to last night, McGregor/Aldo would be bigger again so how do you come to this conclusion

The UFC were on a winner whether McGregor won or not. You would get a lot of people who watched for the first time Sunday morning watching Mendes/Aldo because there would be much more hype after Mendes beat McGregor. I know it wouldn't beat McGregor/Aldo but it would come close because of the two belts being on the line. McGregor has gotten a lot of Americans interested in the sport now

I said It after the fight and I'll say It again, that escape won McGregor the fight, It was excellent, It's the type of thing that champions do, to come from behind and pull It out of the bag, like Lawler did.

Ill put two hands up, that was scary, not just for the fight but cause i didnt realise conors neck is elastic.

was that a legimate way of escaping from a choke in that position or more of a lucky scramble?

That was legit IMO. Fantastic speed and awareness. Not many pull those off.

    i know its not ffs!

its brandao cowering the same way mendes did........

    it didnt drop him

conor connected, mendes took it, looked back towards conor then slithered down the cage and covered up.

a drop, imo, is a punch connecting and an immediate drop to the ground

    youre boring me now..........ignore:cool:

I don't know what you were watching but McGregor definitely dropped him with the left. He hit the cage on the way down for fcuks sake, his face looked like it didn't know what just happened and he just instinctively covered up. A top fighter knows that the worst thing you can do is turtle and cover-up, it's giving the referee a reason to step in. He wouldn't of done that had he not been near knocked out by the punch.

At that stage Chad was so exhausted he was just a punching bag. Hopefully the two will meet again at some stage when both guys have their proper training camps

I think it's part of the campaign to say everybody's running scared of McGregor isn't it, which feeds nicely into bizarre claims that Aldo will retire at 28 rather than face him for a big pay day.

But that will make no difference. Two week camp is loads of time, Sure everybody's doing It.

What is it about discussing Conor that makes so many people turn into rude jackasses?

Talking about both sides of the fence here.

Crappy interview but i didn't think Dana and Lorenzo had accepted the $3m bet, but Conor by saying they are men of their word seems like they did.

payments.....i hope something special is done for MacDonald and Lawlor. 59k for macdonald is a bargain for THAT fight for the UFC. yeah he got an extra 50k but the two of them went to war and back so imo deserve a few bucks or something. is there a hall of fame for fights? perhaps there should be. a list of the UFC recognized wars that a novice fan can go to and watch the very best of the UFC.

Seery getting more than Pendred must say something about how Dana etc. feel about Pendred's performances.
