If the exit poll is right, is that the end of Ed Miliband?

Will they turn to his brother David, maybe? The king across the sea? :pac:
No, not the end of Ed. Analogies were being made to Neil Kinnock who got two runs at a General Election. Every recent GE Tory failure was replaced however.

    Absolutely....

But if the Tories get 290-300 & Lab, 270-ish, Ed may cling on.

The BBC NI coverage actually represents the parties well.

The UUP and the SDLP represented by two pensioners. Sinn Fein represented by someone much younger.
    pensioners are people too

If the result is as bad as the polls suggest, then Miliband is a goner.

UKIP will get a fair chunk of the vote share, around 15% but few seats due to the archaic FPTP system.

If a country ends up with coalition in a FPP system then FPP is clearly worthless by EVERY measure.

They sure are. But there are valid criticisms that these two parties are out of touch because their age profile is so high.

    out of touch

do candidates/spokespeople have to be under a certain age

The FPTP system is a gonner if UKIP repeat Sunderland around the country.

The country is a gonner if UKIP repeat that performance (which they wont anyway); that old expression "Lions led by donkeys" would never be more apt.

Sounds to me like the best reason to keep it.

If Sunderland can count so quickly why can't the other constituencies?

Hopefully, but why would Lab/Con give up one of the massive advantages they have?

Also it was surprisingly rejected in 2011 referendum. But I feel if UKIP and the SNPs rise continues the calls for it to go will rise for the next election.

    lol I thought you'd say that. :)

Actually if that exit poll is right the SNP have taken nearly all Scottish seats.

They make a 'thing' out of it.

Scores of volunteers literally sprinting around with ballot boxes.

Also it was surprisingly rejected in 2011 referendum.

That was no great surprise, it was the AV version, most of the parties and media were against it
