Laura Dale: Nintendo Switch Xenoblade X Port Is Handled Externally And Monolith Working On Own Project

Journalist Laura Dale is on a roll today with Nintendo Switch news. She previously gave the estimated internal release date for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U and now she has provided some information on the forthcoming Nintendo Switch port of Xenoblade Chronicles X. The project isn’t being worked on by the original developer Monolith Soft but is instead being outsourced to an external studio. You’ll be pleased to know that Monolith Soft are working on a new project for the Nintendo Switch which is set to arrive sometime in 2018 or even after that.

All I need from that is "Xenoblade X port". Currently playing through original on 3DS and delighted that they're bringing the sequel to Switch.

Wouldn't be surprised to hear Tantalus are handling the XCX port.

Gameseek have the Switch listed at £198.50 and with a Pre-Order price guarantee. That looks a confirmation of one of the prices anyway, depending on bundles etc. March 17th release date.

Do Gameseek take payment immediately or are they like Amazon and wait until they send it?

I'm tempted, but what on Earth do you get? If there's different SKU's they could just give us the most basic unit with no games. It's too vague. Also, would not be a fan of them taking my money 4 months before it releases.

I'm staring at the checkout screen of €223. What to do?

    I'd hold fire.

I was going to get it but 20 pound shipping put me off. I know I can use pm etc. but for a console I'd prefer not to.

Ya there's too little known yet of what you get to make a purchase imo. I don't think there will be a shortage either, I know it's always risky saying that with Nintendo :p, but for this I would expect being able to choose which bundle and being able to get it.

They're not working on Xenoblade according to rumours and was it the games director or prodcer, someone high up said so? It's from a while back, I'll look for the link now.

ah feck, really loved x on the wiiu, the amount of hours i put into that game!, i was kinda hoping because they are porting x to switch they would be doing a sequel to tie up the story. Still anything from monolith is great, im glad they are working on something for switch.

Rumours that there's a sequel alright though. But it won't be them making it.

Thats rather suprising considering they've developed every xeno titled game for the last 15 or so years, id love to see them continue it. Glad were getting somthing from them tho.

I have Xenoblade Chronicles, physical versions, on both the Wii and 3DS, plus the sequel on the WiiU and have barely played any of them!
    I know.
    I know.
I'm a bad player of games and a shoddy choice for a Cat Mod... But there you go!

Ubisoft has high expectations for Switch, “helps expand the possibilities of fun”

This week’s issue of Famitsu contains a two-page interview with two of Ubisoft’s executives. EMEA boss Alain Corre was included in the conversation.

During the chat, Famitsu asked a question about Switch. Regarding the upcoming platform and Ubisoft’s support, Corre responded with the following:

“We have big expectations for the innovative Nintendo Switch. Our Just Dance franchise, for example, is one that people enjoy with families. With the Nintendo Switch in hand, children, their parents, or even their grandparents, would be able to dance out in the backyard on holidays. Doesn’t that sound exciting (laughs)? The hardware really helps expand the possibilities of fun, people of all ages will be able to play games anywhere. We hope to have a wide variety of software available, but we’re unable to go into details just yet. Sorry (laughs).”

Ubisoft has been talking a bunch about Switch, even before Nintendo formally revealed the system last month. When it was still known as NX, Corre himself said that it “will recapture a lot of the lapsed Wii players.”

Nintendo holding Switch hands-on event in New York Jan. 13

It’s the first hands-on opportunity for the Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch — the console-handheld hybrid announced last month — will make its hands-on debut at a private event in New York on Jan. 13, 2017, Nintendo announced today.

The Switch will get a five-hour event in New York following a streamed presentation on the evening of Jan. 12, which Nintendo is referring to as its “Tokyo webcast.” That will offer more details about the upcoming hardware, which Nintendo has remained mum on since the three-minute announcement trailer debuted in mid-October.

The Tokyo presentation will be held live for investors and media, Nintendo said in an earlier announcement. The company will reveal the Switch price and exact release date. Up until now, the platform has only been given a March 2017 launch window.

While Nintendo hasn’t announced an exact location or further details for the New York follow-up event, it did stress that it “will further emphasize some of the details that Nintendo plans to announce.”

Ubisoft are celebrating their 30th anniversary. As part of the celebrations they released a video and in that video are Mario, Luigi and Toad in Rabbid form. Which could give more credence to the rumours of the Mario and Rabbid RPG that's said to be in development.

This is some good news imo - Stardew Valley coming to the Switch (instead of Wii-U), Eurogamer link. Coming to Xbox one also but it looks like the type of game that would work well on a portable or even tablet.

    There's one in Paris too.

The public will be allowed in the tokyo big show event. I say we go there.
