I'd be pretty sure they would have a policy against on screen employees promoting their own products during sky broadcasts. But Kevin moved back to the US around that time so maybe that's why he stopped working for sky.

He was a great presenter and was knowledgeable about the game. He asked good questions and had good insights of his own. It's a sad loss to see him pass away.

It's almost like the criticism the players are getting from divs like this has nothing whatsoever to do with "disrespecting the flag". Hmmmm...I wonder what they might actually be objecting to?

Due to having no power for a lot of yesterday I'm only finding out now that Kevin Cadle has died. Ah balls to that. :( Big kev was the NFL in the UK and Ireland for years.

Nice to see he's apparently getting a big send off on Sunday in the UK game (is it Twickenham?). In the scheme of things to the actual NFL - it's players, coaches, media, fans, etc as best I know he was basically completely irrelevant so I was worried they might overlook it, but him and Nick did so much good work in getting it going over here. To think in 2002 when I started watching hardly anyone could name an NFL player before Elway or Marino and maybe Joe Montana... nowadays a lot of people actually have a passing enough interest to name a handful of currently players even if never watch it. The internet etc played a huge role of course, but his nice to see Kev get his recognition.

Hopefully Nick is there to say a few words or whatnot.

The Buffalo Bills tweeted about him dying.

Wow, didn't expect that! Maybe he was a little more known over the water or at least around Buffalo than I had thought.

Has anyone read the book 'War Room' by Michael Holley? It's a good insight into how Belichick builds his teams. Pioli and Dmitroff feature heavily too.

I read it initially years ago but with the power out I've gone back to it in the evenings and enjoying it.

How is it or what does it cover? I found Dimitroff extremely likable on Hard Knocks a few years back.

2018 NFL Draft will be held in Dallas at Jerry's World.

Andrew Luck will be shut down in practice for the next two weeks.

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000863565/article/colts-shut-down-andrew-luck-due-to-shoulder-soreness

From following the story, I think this story shifts the presumption of the Colts expecting Luck back this season, to now not expecting Luck back at all this season. It will be week 8 by the time he gets back on the training field and even then he will need more weeks of monitoring and practice for him and the staff to be comfortable taking to the playing field.

It's a hard one for the fan. If I was to be totally honest, I would prefer if he just rested this season. We are not getting to the playoffs and its so important for the franchise that Luck gets his full health back. Our roster is devoid of talent so have a high draft pick would be really beneficial for the Colts. I know it means my team loses more games, but right now, it would be dangerous for Luck to play this year behind that line with that injury.

I know luck had shoulder surgery in the off season but what did he have that's still not right for him to play ?

Very long recovery time. The Colt's organisation deliberately put no timetable, no pressure, just allowed him to return when he felt comfortable and the doctors said it was ok. Despite the extremely long time it is taking for Luck's shoulder to heal, they have reiterated that there have been no setbacks, until today. I think it's unlikely he plays this year, max 5 games, but what would be the point then when the Colts are out.

The other little bonus might be a decent trade away of your new QB for a nice high pick, he only has to improve a little over the rest of the season for that to happen.

A great trivia question I just saw over on Reddit.

Jerry Rice had 161 receptions after the age of 40. Thats the most in NFL history. Who is second on the list and how many receptions had they?

    Answer:
    Brett Favre, with 1

What are you basing a 49ers improvement on? 1. Jets 2. Cleveland 3. SF 4. Chicago. Top of the draft next season.

Unless its a pick they've traded for your mad if you think the Browns are the second worst team in football this year.

I don't think the browns will be 2nd worst. Id say 4th worst. Their qbs still suck but I think other teams are an injury or two from being worse

browns will do browns kind of things....
Its hard to gauge anything yet. But they Browns at least on paper appear to have improved on last season.
    Guffy wrote: »
But that's just it. The days of browns type things are gone. The organisation has gone through a complete overhaul in the last couple of years. They actually have a pretty decent team now, or the beginnings of one. They do have a difficult schedule this year granted but if you look at last year they were actually in quiet a few games going into the 4th quarter.

Massively improved o line with a very good running back in Crowell, who at the end of last season showed he can be somewhat of a duel threat. They will need some competant QB play to avoid a stacked box, but genuinly excited to see how the offense develops this year. The defence has had a huge upgrade also. Some very good starters there, but the lack of depth may hurt them.

Depending on how their schedule actually works out (how good is the NFC north?) and how the qb situation plays out, they have the talent there (im a vacume) to be a 5 win team this year. Do you honestly see them going 0-6 in the division again?

Please do :P id happily put my money where my mouth is too if you are so confident. Or at least my typing fingers.

At this point I think we can officially call the Browns still terrible and obviously in play for a top 2 pick this season.

Yip... hands up. I honestly couldnt see this **** storm happening at the start of the season. I had them down for at least 1 win if not 2 at this stage. Honestly beginning to question some of the coaching staff's drcisions at this stage too. Dont know if its all down to them or upstairs but im really gone back to Hugh really needing to show something before the end of the year.

Pats are Pats and Browns are Browns until proven otherwise.

The mismanagement of Kizer is the biggest fcukup so far. No idea what the plan was but they are not developing him in any way. Theyve benched him twice now. If I was a QB drafted by cleveland I'd honestly hold out and demand a trade.

Meanwhile the 49ers are just as bad.

Been watching football about 20 years at this stage. This is the season I really think Cleveland is just jinxed and should give up. They've tried everything at this stage, and still suck. Every time it looks like they've a chance to change, the continue to be Browns

Did you not see any of their last few seasons?

If the game against the Steelers (I think?) last season when tied at the end of the game and their FG attempt to win was blocked and returned for a TD doesn't shout out 'jinxed' to you, I don't know what will.

That's the point. In the time I've been watching football, pretty much every team has had a season in the sun, and a season in the first few draft picks. Cleveland have been consistently bad. I thought this season would finally be the year, but again being Browns.
