Watched the Espn 30 for 30 on the Washington Redskins 1987 season last night and it was fascinating. There was a players strike so replacement players "scabs" were brought in off the street to play 3 regular season games, all of which they won. Strike ended and Redskins went on to win the Superbowl that year but the owner refused to give the replacements Superbowl rings.

The fires burning in Northern California could potentially impact the raiders game on Sunday as the fires are affected air quality in the area.

Bowman released by the 49ers. I'm sure he'll have no shortage of suitors from contenders.

Could be a serious pickup for a team at this point who has cap room?

I think the Pats do and they could do with the defensive help!
Last I heard they had about $5m.

Makes sense he could get more but I would imagine he just wants to win at this point

Maybe he should go to the Chiefs then? Or maybe the Bills?

I'm torn between doing the right thing to guys who have served the team well and getting absolutely nothing for him. This isn't the Peterson situation where he wasn't getting snaps. He apparently wasn't happy with the number he was getting but he still was highest out of our LBs and up there in the snaps for the whole league. The 49ers are a young team and they need his kind of leadership but saying that if he was throwing a fit after getting benched for a few snaps it may have gotten worse as there was more rotation with Foster returning. That isn't what they need in the locker room of a side that is building.

This year he has definitely lost a decent bit of pace and missed a few tackles. It would be nice to see him going on to a top team but I would tell any fans not to expect the player they knew a few seasons ago.

If he's whinging about snaps, that's not the kind of leadership they need. A few picks might have been nice all the same.

If you had a chance as a neutral to go to Lions @ Saints or Dolphins @ Falcons, which would you choose?

So because of various reasons I ended up at neither of these today. Instead I was at Oakland to see the Chargers beat the Raiders. The Colisium is about as far away from the new Stadium in Atlanta as you can get but it certainly creates an atmosphere. I was row 12 in the Black Hole surrounded by some...characters. Very memorable day.

Going to see my Giants take on the Seahawks next week.

    Kevin Cadle has died
Ah that's such sad news. Met him in London the man was an absolute gentleman taking time to talk to everyone

    Indeed, always liked Kevin. RIP.

Yeah, him and Nick were a great combo they should have held on to - Kevin wasn't all too knowledgeable compared (basketball was his main sport) but was just a very likable guy, sad to see him go.

    Wtf was he sick?

Ah that's sad. Kevin & Nick were a great combo back in the day. NFL on Sky was the only reason I had Sky for a very long time before NFL on the internet became possible. RIP.

Mike Carlson said on twitter he was meant to join him on Talksport for the Jags/Rams game last night but called in sick. Seems he died suddenly. :(

Very sad news indeed, seemed like a thoroughly decent guy and was a great presenter to boot.

Loved the banter with him and Cecil, always enjoyed the Thanksgiving broadcasts.

Tragic news. Loved his presenting of Sky's coverage and was very sad to see him replaced there. Many a laugh was had listening to him talk about his Buffalo Bills as if they were world beaters.

    Horrible to hear this.

    RIP Kevin

What a great presenter. Really helped get me into watching the game with his analysis with Cecil, Shaun, Jeff and Neil. Always had a smile on his face and seemed a very fun guy to be around.

Hopefully a fitting tribute to him at the weekend in Wembley.

Halling left a few years earlier to cover boxing IIRC. After Halling he worked with Neil (Reynolds?) in the studio.

He still worked for Sky the odd time covering UK basketball.

Sky Sports said there’ll be a big tribute for him in Twickenham.

Some people reckon Sky stopped using Kev because he promoted his own book on the Thanksgiving show which they weren't happy with.

He did come back for a playoff game or 2 last year IIRC, so I'm not sure how much merit that theory has.

Bit pathetic if true, I've seen maybe 2 Sky games in the last three years or so, I'm all for women hosting if they're good at it but yer wan who was doing it when I last tuned in was brutal beyond belief. Genuinely seemed like they just plucked someone, anyone, with an American accent and ran with it.
