Unless your a Jets fan, of course. May as well skip on 415 days or so.

I might be in the minority of Jets fans and Ive extremely low expectations, but I'm kind of looking forward to this season. They're going be fielding a lot of young players (only 4 over the age of 30) who will be looking to prove themselves. So hopefully a few of these will step up and become stars of the future.

What are you basing a 49ers improvement on? 1. Jets 2. Cleveland 3. SF 4. Chicago. Top of the draft next season.

Unless its a pick they've traded for your mad if you think the Browns are the second worst team in football this year.

Nobody ever went broke underestimating the browns.

Why would anyone draft a WR named Mike Williams?

    IT NEVER WORKS, NFL!

I thought the exact same thing. :D

Was going to post when you draft a Mike Williams it's always boom or bust, but then remembered I was mixing up Mike Evans with Mike Williams when talking about Mike Williams but not that Mike Williams, the rookie Mike Williams.

The pronunciation is also apparently "Weems" depending on who is commentating.

If I was called Mike Williams I would change my name if I was trying to become a NFL player :pac:

I found this pretty cool post on Reddit a while back because I was intrigued about the history of the name Mike Williams and the NFL having seen so many in my time watching the NFL. Summed up nicely haha
With the emergence of Mike Williams (WR – Clemson) as a top prospect in the upcoming NFL draft, I thought it would be interesting to look at the illustrious history of players named Mike Williams in the NFL.
Now before we dive in here, let’s clear the air on one point: this post is in good fun and should not be taken seriously or as a sign of forbearance regarding the Clemson Mike Williams’ NFL upside (I happen to think he’s the best WR in this draft by a longshot). So, without further ado, here’s the breakdown of Mike Williams in the NFL:
    Summary

    • 9 players named Mike Williams have been drafted in NFL history.
    • Of the 9 Mike Williamses, they have combined for a total of zero Pro Bowls, zero All-Pros, and one Super Bowl ring. That Super Bowl Ring was won by Mike Williams of the Redskins in Super Bowl XVII. He finished his NFL career with 3 receptions for 14 yards.
    • Three players named Mike Williams have been drafted in the first round, two of which were top ten picks. Incidentally, both of those top ten Mike Williams took multi-year pro football hiatuses before returning with other teams.
    The First Round Mike Williamses

1975 Draft - Mike Williams (CB – LSU) #22 Overall to the San Diego Chargers Played from 1975-1983.
2002 Draft – Mike Williams (OL – Texas) #4 Overall to the Buffalo Bills Played for the Bills from 2002-2005. Spent the 2006 season with the Jaguars. Took a three year hiatus from pro football and returned to the Redskins from 2009 to 2010.
2005 Draft - Mike Williams (WR – USC) #10 Overall to the Detroit Lions Played with the Lions from 2005-2006 before floating to the Raiders, Titans, Seahawks, and Argonauts in the CFL. Incidentally, Williams opted to go pro after a lower court ruled Maurice Clarrett’s lawsuit deemed the NFL’s exclusion rules violated anti-trust laws. When the Supreme Court rejected Clarrett’s suit, Williams (and Clarrett) had already signed agents and therefore foregone their NCAA eligibility, forcing them to have a gap year between NCAA’s and the pros.
    The Other Mike Williamses

    • Mike Williams (FB – New Mexico) 8th round pick in 1979
    • Mike Williams (TE – Alabama A&M) 5th round pick in 1982
    • Mike Williams (RB – Mississippi College) 4th round pick in 1983
    • Mike Williams (WR – Northeastern) 10th round pick in 1989
    • Mike Williams (WR – Syracuse) 4th round pick in 2010.
    • Mike Williams (TE – Alabama) 7th round pick in 2013.
    Conclusion

There is no conclusion, other than the fact that Mike Williamses have not had illustrious football careers. I suspect the 10th time will be the charm when Mike Williams breaks the curse of Mike Williams, opening the door for future Mike Williamses and removing the stigma of the name Mike Williams that currently exists for players named Mike Williams.

I don't think the browns will be 2nd worst. Id say 4th worst. Their qbs still suck but I think other teams are an injury or two from being worse

Its hard to gauge anything yet. But they Browns at least on paper appear to have improved on last season.

But that's just it. The days of browns type things are gone. The organisation has gone through a complete overhaul in the last couple of years. They actually have a pretty decent team now, or the beginnings of one. They do have a difficult schedule this year granted but if you look at last year they were actually in quiet a few games going into the 4th quarter.

Massively improved o line with a very good running back in Crowell, who at the end of last season showed he can be somewhat of a duel threat. They will need some competant QB play to avoid a stacked box, but genuinly excited to see how the offense develops this year. The defence has had a huge upgrade also. Some very good starters there, but the lack of depth may hurt them.

Depending on how their schedule actually works out (how good is the NFC north?) and how the qb situation plays out, they have the talent there (im a vacume) to be a 5 win team this year. Do you honestly see them going 0-6 in the division again?

If Klappert can stay healthy the browns QBs do not me necessarily suck. He's no world beater but was very efficient and safe with the ball last year, had he been a first rounder (say if Jared Goff had mimicked his performances) or had the browns had a better team around him to get more wins we would have been hearing a lot more coming into this year. The talk of them looking at QBs like Trubisky high in the first round was utterly baffling.

Tom Brady posted this pm FB last year. Apparently his page is a gold mine, but I've laughed at this for a solid five minutes.

    https://www.facebook.com/TomBrady/videos/1331145090259971/

How he didn't get absolutely speared I'll never know.

He does make it very hard to hate him on occasion, that is one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time.

How and why Cromartie and at least a couple of other Jet's don't cut Brady in half is beyond me. I assume that was Rex's Jets, can you imagine how pissed he would have been when he watched that back.

It really was a great chance to lay a hit on him; I guess the QB protection rules played a part (even if they didn't apply) in their head.

I'll start by saying I'm a huge Tom Brady fan and I've been a Patriots fan for a long, long time now so it's not hard to like the guy for me.

I don't see how anybody could dislike the guy though, he is funny, he is a great player too. I can understand jealousy because he is also a good looking guy and he has a supermodel wife and he is a consistent winner but I cannot understand how anybody could dislike him.

Yup. I'm not a Patriots fan, but I think the guy is extremely likable. As well as the above in any interview he does about his daily/weekly regime it comes across that he works extremely hard to be as good as he is. Its not just blind physical prowess/luck that you get with some sports stars. Gotta really respect that too.

The Jerry Jones and the Cowboys are such a scumbag organization.

For weeks they have been blindly defending the many antics of Zeke Elliot, he has been accused of many things from bar fights to speeding and most notably a domestic abuse case. Jerry Jones investigated the domestic abuse case and said flat out he believes Zeke and the accuser is lying.

Then this week, fringe Cowboys player Lucky Whitehead is accused of shoplifting and missing his court date. Lucky denied it, saying he knew nothing about it and he wasn't even in the state of Virginia of the incident at the time. The Cowboys decided to cut him to send a message that players who mess up time and time again will not be tolerated.

Today, it turns out it was a case of mistaken identity. Lucky Whitehead was completely innocent of the shoplifting incident.

The Cowboys were obviously feeling the heat for their handling of Zeke and wanted to pretend that they have a moral compass so they decided to fire Lucky without a second thought or even a small investigation (Lucky had flight records that proved he wasn't even in Virginia at the time of the incident), hell they could have just waited a day to find out he was innocent.

In the NFL, everybody knows there is a double standard that good players get more leeway than fringe players, that's life but Lucky lost his job because the Cowboys were just willing to throw him under the bus to protect Zeke. That is outrageous scumbag behavior imo.

This is not the first time the Cowboys have fired fringe players to protect their scumbag start players:

Its good that the Cowboys take a stand for professionalism. Their leader Greg Hardy must have been disgusted by their behavior.

Local news in Dallas is hilarious about this whole thing. The Cowboys leadership have taken a strong stand, and sent out a signal that they expect their players to meet a certain standard as role models to the children of Texas and all of America.
The funniest part was when they wheeled out Dak Prescott to tell the press about how he and the whole team are helping Zeke work on his issues on and off the field, this is an example of the kind of "adversity" that he himself faced and that "made him who he is". When asked about Whitehead in the exact same interview: "those things are being handled, and it's not something I care to go on about". Oh, OK. I guess it isn't really adversity if he didn't do it, so he doesn't want to "go on about" an innocent guy getting ****canned.
