Looking back over the list, apart from 1 or 2, there is very few I regret missing out on. The Last of Us is probably the only one

The problem with these lists and only doing it with 10 votes is that there are probably a lot of games that are on most peoples top 20 but no1's top ten.. so they'll not get in the top 50 while something that is on say 2 peoples top 10 and no1 elses top 20/50 will.

I don't see any problem putting them together. I have never played any jrpgs bar some western rpgs inspired by them so if I learn of jrpgs I should play then great.

On a serious note though, I'm not sure how many people here have actually completed 10 rpgs to make a top 10. Do the likes of Mass Effect and Fallout etc come under the umbrella term ?

I don't own a PS3 so I didn't play The Last of Us.

But Day9 did during the summer so I watched his playthrough of it here over the past few days.

Although you'd think you might lose some of the investment in the characters because you're not playing with them yourself, I didn't feel that way.

It's maybe 16 hours long (in 30 or so 30 minute sections) so I threw it on on my 2nd screen while I was doing things that didn't require my full attention and I could zone out a bit or skip forward when he kept dying at certain parts.

Although I didn't get to experience the game-play mechanics first hand even for the story alone it was one of the most tense and gripping experiences I've ever had in gaming.

In a sense I wished I never watched it so I could play it through but I wasn't going to buy a console and the game without knowing how amazing it was.

I can fully appreciate how people could call it one of the greatest games ever made.
Intense, terrifying, heartbreaking, hugely polished in gameplay and presentation and all that on what is now an absolute archaic heap of **** in the PS3. Astonishing work from Naughty Dog.

I'd be surprised if we don't see it, and pretty much any of the well received AAA games from this gen, ported over the next gen consoles in the next year or so.

It's one of the few reasons I still want a PS3, stupid exclusives that I never got to play.
And the PS4 isn't backwards compatible apparently. I wish it were like the old days when a friend would 'lend' or 'swap' you their console for a week.

Bit harsh no? Last of Us and GTAV are both technical marvels on it, it's not like it isn't capable of delivering great looking games still.
