Because he's not in the Olympics and his PR is 185.

Ye but he clearly has the ability to match the OR. Be pretty cool to match it I would think.
    Assuming he's 94 of course

He might have if he got 186.

If he hit 186 in his first few attempts, he'd have given 187 a bash.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,468 ✭✭✭DylanJM

Olympic record is 187. World record is 188. He weighs 99-100kg so it's irrelevant really. He went for 186 as his current best is 185.

First time doing a water load followed by a fast. Dropped just under 2kg. And the fast day wasn't nearly as bad as I expected.

Next thing is to test out how it affects my strength levels with some heavy deadlifts. Looking forward to that.

    Just doing a trial run?

Exactly. Have the Athlone comp in September. Bit wary of making weight especially considering I'm going to a beer festival for a weekend two weeks before.:D. Bad timing!

Where are you at now and what weight you hoping to be then?

What level of fast did you do?

Well my fluctuation weight over the last month has been between 76 and 77. I expect I can drop a couple of kilos before the festival anyway. It'll just be tough as I'm in the 10-12% BF range now. Hoping to make the 74kg weight category.

Drank 7 litres of water Monday to Wednesday. 5 litres Thursday. Ate at maintenance for these days too with typical "clean" foods. Mountains of rice! Then small 600 calorie breakfast at 11am Friday with no water other than my two coffees in the morning. Then no water or food till this morning when I woke up. So 20ish hour fast.

Sounds doable so! That said, I was fasted from about 8pm one night to 1pm the next day for bloods and did not enjoy it. There certainly wasn't any mental clarity that some people say they get :D

I always wondered of I'd bother trying to make 74 for a comp but frankly I think I'd just stay as I am (~78). It's

Yeah it was alright. But I do highly advise not telling your friends you're doing this. I swear I've never seen some of the amazing food p0rn they were sending me! :pac:

I've been doing 16/8 IF for a while now too so it wasn't like I was totally unaccustomed to fasting. Yeah I reckon I'll be moving up and aiming for the 83 class after September. It'll be too hard to grow and maintain the weight otherwise.

Strength not affected. Happy days. Now just to be at a walking weight of below 76.

    How's this for old school?

I got a FB mail off Degsy telling me JuanVeron / VampireKiss is back.

I look at that 100lb weight loss thread, and I'm instantly transported back 9 years.

There's more gold here if you go digging.

Just heard a replay of Jimmy Magee from The Last Word on Friday and while everyone knows he's a good 30 years of date, RTE still send him to the Olympics.

Anyway, Michelle Smith wasn't doping in 96 because her tines were slower than other gold medallists at the 400m free amd also because she came top 3 in Ireland in the bar exam years after.

Oh, and when "you see 25 black men running for Denmark or Sweden. I think that's a bigger than the drugs to be honest with you."

    Oh, Jimmy...

Michelle never popped in Atlanta. It was only afterwards, when the pressure of being Ireland greatest ever medal haulist got to her, that she turned to the dark side.
Fair play to Jimmy, saying it like it is, screw the media consensus.

    She never popped.

The pressure drove her to whiskey.

But unfortunately Jimmy doesn't say it like it is. That would be useful as a commentator. He does, however, tell countless pointless anecdotes instead...

Folks, if i have a squat rack, and a bench press (two separate things, bench press is an Argos jobby with the lat tower attachment).. is there any benefit to a power rack?

Looking at one on amazon, and other than the pully having a low-pulley, I am struggling to see the justification for getting one. Am I missing something?

EDIT: This is what I'm looking at:

Bodyfirst are doing a box of 15 bars for €35.

Discount supplements have 20% off and they're selling bars at €1.98

Applegreen do them 2 for €4

There's also this guy if you don't mind a bit of a journey

I think Flyefit George's St are putting in the new squat racks this morning if I recall the sign that went up recently correctly.

I dunno. I'll be over a little later and will give a trip report. I might even take some photos for my internet fitness friends.
