Massive respect to Barack. One of the only presidents I've seen to have genuine sadness when a disaster happens.

They just mentioned about the person they have on the common on the scanners. Nothing detailed, just what to do. They were advices to wait for the JTT (?!?) to interview him, nothing else as yet just still detained

Scanner just mentioned that "the suspect" was detained an hour ago and they're waiting for some acronym to interrogate him.

Someone on Fox News just said it may have been an act of terrorism.

Do they have a different definition for the word or something?

Surely two bombs going off in a crowded street is enough to suggest it was an act of terrorism.

They're probably being cautious about using the word because they know how their viewership will interpret it.

If it's the main suspect they're sure as hell not going to let beat cops interview him

    Have to disagree....
Bush did a absolutely fantastic job in times of national tragedy.
After Hurricane Sandy Obama went to NY did a photo op and left..

Either that or Jonathon Taylor Thomas... the guy that done the voice of Simba in the Lion King

Probably wouldn't be great at interrogation mind.

Iraq has been a warzone for around 10 years any bombs going of there is sad but not unexpected. When was Boston ever a war zone?.

Sky news constantly making reference to being in 'HD' just seems sadomasochistic. The main news agencies are like vultures, not bothered by reporting news but treating this as entertainment and trying to keep you watching as if it was a developing play! It's disgusting.

My brother in law's sister took part in the marathon and thankfully is safe. She was less than half a mile from the finish line when the bombs exploded. She's a lucky girl.

And after Hurricane Katrina, Bush ignored it....

I dunno...Bush's reaction to Hurricane Katrina left a lot to be desired, in fairness.

    A few hundred years ago.

How would you know what they were saying if you weren't watching it though? And you and people like you watching it is the reason they sensationalize the news, to keep people watching so the ad rates stay high

If you think it's that disgusting, turn it off and don't use tabloid news sources

To be fair, the Boston explosions are a complete shock.

Not saying the Iraq bombings aren't equally as sad from a humanity perspective, but the Boston one was always going to generate a bigger reaction for that reason, and also because its a more familiar place where people are likely to know friends or family staying there.

To be calling the reaction in this thread as wrong is OTT really. The bombings are what's wrong in the world. The outpouring of sympathy is fortunately the majority.

Terrorism as defined by Fox would mean it was carried out by middle eastern nutjobs as opposed to american christian militia

Don't think it helps anyone if he starts getting emotional. He's there to provide leadership.

Not saying he has to start banging on the table and promising vengeance, but to me he came across as if he could have been reading any run of the mill statement that's all.

I think his attempt of appearing grave and serious is more like vague disinterest - at least that's how he came across IMO
