One completely bizzare image is of the woman who is running as the bomb goes off about 50 feet behind her,she turns around then quickens her pace only to pause & stop her stopwatch as she crosses the line.
This scene can be seen on the footage being shown on the news.It just struck me as very strange under the circumstances,it was almost as if the explosions were secondary to her recording her finishing time:confused:

The mind can be a pecular thing. When your that close to the finish line of a marathon, you propabaly are still going to record your time, people train for months for one, and natural thing is to stop after you cross the line.

Running from the blast, well thats probably just adrenaline or 'fight or flight' kicking in.

She was probably running on automatic as well.

it is a damning indictment on the human race today that in the midst of a tragedy, like these bombings, that people feel the need to take photos and video the whole thing. What good do they get out of it only a few seconds of fame on the internet?

I know people would have been recording the race finish anyway, but surely they should have a bit of respect for the victims and NOT record the devastation

Well the silver lining is that they might just capture something of value for the investigation.

Probably not shock, but something similar.

She has been single midely planning this moment for a grueling 3+ hours. I'm not surprised she finished the routine before it sank in what had happened.

A guy has his legs blown off, and within hours thousands of random people around the world on message boards who he never met are getting a load of his agony.

we took a wrong turn somewhere.

The wrong turn happened centuries ago when murder was accepted as a rational form of conflict resolution. A picture on a message board is the evidence we put the foot on the gas when we took that turn.

But the US have been expecting an Al Qaeda retaliation attack for quite some time now, partiularly since the death of Osama. I would have though such an event would of had a similar set up as trying to board a plane. Granted it's a massive area to cover.

how many events are going to be on every day of every week in America though.

You cannot stop every attack and if this is some lone wolf instead of a Al Quida based group then chatter on the web would have been non existent and chances to intercept it would also be useless

A special mention needs to go to the brave people trying to help anyone in trouble there.

    Brave people.

Im not sure what I would of done, but in back of my mind knowing another explosion could go off any second puts scary stuff through my head.

    EVENFLOW

I have to agree, but these are the things that will stick in peoples minds in the future, as awful as it is

You're filming the finishing line of a marathon and a bomb goes off. Do you honestly think your first reaction would be to turn the camera off??

Some of the video footage really annoys me. You can see people struggling to get barriers and stuff out of the way yet the tool who's recording won't even lend a hand. I understand people cannot always help medically but I fail to see how you can have the ability to hold a camera but not help move a barrier.

And if the person didn't have the camera you'd have nothing to complain about.

It's important that everything is video taped. It will provide a view that security cameras might miss and might help the police apprehend whoever is behind it.

    Horrible

Roupen Bastajian, a 35-year-old state trooper from Rhode Island, had just finished the race when they put the heat blanket wrap on him and he heard the first blast.

"I started running toward the blast, and there were people all over the floor," he said.

"We started grabbing tourniquets and started tying legs. A lot of people amputated. At least 25 to 30 people have at least one leg missing, or an ankle missing, or two legs missing.

Can't say that would bother me. I'd rather they helped out than post footage.

Can people stop posting these pictures, regardless of whether they're real or not?

No. You have the choice not to click on links.

FFS, that is more than NSFW and I really think you should put a bigger warning on that and I actually don't see the point in posting it to be honest.

Post title clearly says "spectator with legs blown off". What did you expect to see? Perfectly formed stumps? A picture paints a thousand words.

That's the sad world we live in today.

But i have heard reports of runners that kept running towards nearby hospitals to donate blood

Awful sad that people can see bombing public areas as legitimate means of aggression.

Seriously, fair fcuks to Boston's response unit. They're doing great work down there. And if there's one thing that actually restores faith in humanity is seeing the footage of people on the news who, straight after the bomb went off, instead of running away, ran towards the people who needed help.
