You know they showed the video of this poor guy on BBC by mistake. They cut to black after someone realised what was been shown. I can't imagine standing out cheering on a sport and enjoying the nice weather then to have my f*cking leg's blown off. The hell is wrong with the people behind this?

I'd imagine that security would be extremely tight for such an event.

Seriously? Tens of thousands of people in a relatively small area many of them carrying backpacks and bags. How do you think they'd manage to search them all!?

The amount of suspicious packages being called in are crazy. Two in the last 5 minutes on that scanner.

Lot of people around the place would have had backpacks with them, all of those had to be checked out

Was it not Afghanistan and the Taliban that "copped it" for 911?
err, yes, but after they had their tilt at the "WMD's?". As a side note, I've been 50m away from 2 IRA bombs. Nothing is scarier than a bomb in a crowded street. If there is even a hint of a bombscare my blood freezes and I move in the opposite direction, fast. When they blew up the Mcd's on Oxford street, I was about 40m away. The blast and silent aftermath have never, ever left me. My heart goes out to those caught up in this- whatever about the political shyte, some people have a long long road of recovery ahead of them. And RIP to the dead.

    Hopefully he dies.

Can we wait to find out if he actually did it before wishing him dead? He could be an innocent that is under suspicion for the color of his skin or the length of his beard.

FFS, that is more than NSFW and I really think you should put a bigger warning on that and I actually don't see the point in posting it to be honest.

I hate the fact that the poor man was photographed like that.
But when we as people look at the scene of an incident like the one today you really just see the property damage, rubble etc.

WHOEVER did this atrocious act, that photograph of that man shows the stark reality of what really happens when someone decides to vent their rage in public on strangers.

I can understand people NOT wanting to view them and that's fine.
But I don't think people should be stopped from posting them(albeit with a better warning)

EDIT; Just saw better warning was added

One completely bizzare image is of the woman who is running as the bomb goes off about 50 feet behind her,she turns around then quickens her pace only to pause & stop her stopwatch as she crosses the line.
This scene can be seen on the footage being shown on the news.It just struck me as very strange under the circumstances,it was almost as if the explosions were secondary to her recording her finishing time:confused:

There's no confirmation of ball bearings being used.

I wonder is he a suspect because of some intelligence or just because he happened to be a Saudi in the area. Remember the double decker bus that blew up in London back in 98-99 or so and they had an Irish lad under watch in hospital who turned out to just having been on the buts as well. (Although it was the IRA who did blow it up)

What did you think you were going to see with something marked NSFW??

NSFW signifies more risque/rude stuff that you wouldn't want your colleagues to see

That harrowing image could cause some people serious problems.

A guy has his legs blown off, and within hours thousands of random people around the world on message boards who he never met are getting a load of his agony.

we took a wrong turn somewhere.

Some news outlets are unbelievable. I mean, his legs had been blown off. And they take pictures.

It's nothing new for them. And for anyone that says it's natural to point a camera and take an image, it's not so natural to then decide to sell horrible images on to agencies etc for a quick buck.

As for the news channels showing them.. what would you expect from people who do this sort of thing?

packed event like that isn't to hard, drop bag, kick in front of someone else, everyone thinks its someone elses or has their attention on the race. nobody would really notice until it was to late
But the US have been expecting an Al Qaeda retaliation attack for quite some time now, partiularly since the death of Osama. I would have though such an event would of had a similar set up as trying to board a plane. Granted it's a massive area to cover.

New York Post story a load of boll0cks apparently.

    http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/boston-police-no-arrests-have-been-made-in
A spokesperson for the Boston Police Department said no suspects have been taken into custody yet after the bombing at the Boston Marathon.

"At this time, we haven't been notified of any arrests or anyone apprehended," the spokesperson said.

The New York Post reported that a "Saudi national who suffered shrapnel wounds in today's blast" has been identified as "a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing." The Boston PD spokesperson did not confirm that report.

"Honestly, I don't know where they're getting their information from, but it didn't come from us," said the spokesperson.

The Post report was attributed to "a law enforcement source." According to the Post, the "suspect" is "currently being guarded in a Boston hospital."

I actually have no problem with the image being taken or viewed, just think the warning should have been stronger.
