    What if the kid find you sometime next week walking down an empty street again and this time he's not alone, he's got all of his older brother's junkie scumbag friends with him to get back at you?

    You know as they say the mob never forgets...

    I would make sure all the doors were properly locked and even board up all the windows if I were you OP...

    Not convinced it actually happened but that's silly.

    Violence isn't nice but sometimes it's justified if you are capable of it. Basically, some people will just laugh at your liberal concerns and entreaties and stamp you into the ground without a second thought.

    That said, some of the scumbag/violence porn in here is a bit risible and sickening.

    Well I normally would not condone the use of physical violence on a child but in this case, with the little lad pulling a knife on you, I could excuse what was essentially a quick reactive punch. You didn't follow up with any more punches so it can be rightfully seen as an act of self-defence.

    This was in no way a cowardly act to be honest. When a person, ANY person, holds a knife or any other weapon up to you and threatens your life with it, you either run or fight back. Running is an option but it may result in an unanted chase through what is probably a busy street. Putting the kid on his back with a solid punch gives you enough time to get away from the situation and keep your money and ,more importantly, your life intact. There usually isn't any cause for violence, but in certain situations where your life, or the life of those you care about, is in danger, sometimes the only answer is to fight back. The one important aspect is that according to the OP, he only delivered one punch to the chap before making his escape. He didn't follow up with any further punches which may have resulted in serious injury to the knife-wielding scumbag so he did just enough to get away from danger. That's fair enough for me.

    But if he ran away without punching him it would of had the same effect.

    Maybe it was just a reaction and hes not usually so violent but it is the congratulations that surprised me more.

    He might have tried to run. Little ****er reacts and stabs him.

    Out of all scenarios punching the kid is the best.

    1. Guy gets away
    2. Guy doesn't feel like a victim.
    3. Kid doesn't get money
    4. Slight chance the kid might realise he's being a ****wit.
