He'll be starting after the second game. He suits that market as well as the team philosophy especially now with Sporano and the whole Wildcat. Though how the hell you content with someone like Holmes is another question.

Of course im for real. Tebow is a fifth tier player at best and Lin could perhaps be a third tier player but both have been such good media stories that they have got much more exposure than their talent warrants.

Yes there is a lot of hype with both of them but they are not useless as you say.

Tebow is 1st tier QB but i'd rank him to be in the bottom 4 of the top 32 QBs...certainly not 5th tier!

Lin is a 1st tier guard, in the top 20 in the NBA.

I know hype makes out to be the greatest players in their respective sports but they are still good players.

Lol i forgot earlier today Antonio Cromartie basically told Tebow to F off on twitter lol lol lol

Thought that was way too negative. It is hard to see what the Jets were thinking picking up Drew Stanton but this really sets the Jets up with alot of options out of the game and makes sure that Mark Sanchez has to either show he's a good QB or be turfed out very early in the season. Ryan could be very much dead in the water if this season spirals linto the abyss like the last so it makes sense he'd roll the dice on Tebow. With good QB play the Jets can still be a very serious threat in the Superbowl stakes so upping the stakes on that front is no wrong thing to do.

Jets are a good fit imo and we got a decent, if unspectacular price. The coverage and story around it should be epic though, cant wait to see this.

Best of luck Tim and thanks for the memories, wish you all the best over there, just don't be too good that it makes us look stupid!

If anything it suits them as a team. Run the clock like crazy and let the defence do it's thing. They need that running game to go back to where it was. Thing is though is there locker room is a disgusting thing, they NEED to trade Holmes to somebody and get a specialist receiver or a good draft pick to fill the void.

Lin is a starting calibre point guard in the NBA, and easily one of the best scoring PGs around.

Part of his story was that people got it wrong on him. It wasn't pure hype. It was "this guy is actually good!"

Tebow is there to take some of the media pressure off sanchez, the pressure he'll be under will be huge though

Hold up! I'm not saying they are useless players?? And im not saying hes a 5th tier QB im saying hes a 5th tier player. Tier one being the really elite players, the game changers, no matter what the position, Tier 2 being great players but slightly below so on and so forth.

I think Tebow will struggle to hold down a starting job at QB in the nfl. Hes a great athlete no doubt but perhaps not with an apt skill set for an NFL QB.

Lin is also a very good player but you really think that he is among the top 20 players in the NBA? I wouldnt rank him anywhere in the top 50

Jets players apparently not happy. Antonio Cromartie just tweeted this.
Y bring Tebow in when we need to bring in more Weapons for @Mark_Sanchez let's build the team around him. We already signed to 3 year ext.

Excuse my ignorance I'm very much a casual NFL fan. What is the hype and hysteria with this guy? Is he good?

He is one of the greatest college footballers ever. He is a megastar in the USA. He doesn't have the skillset associated with being a QB in the NFL but he took over a team as starter on a team that was 1-4 last year and led them to the playoffs.

He is the most talked about player in the NFL to date. He sold more jersies last season than all except Aaron Rodgers who led the Packers to the Superbowl in February that year.

God forbid Mark Sanchez should have some real competition and stop being coddled like a baby and wrapped in cotton wool for the remainder of his vastly expensive contract.

Tebow is rubbish. We had one QB that will need to be cut in two year's time. Now we have two! There is a half decent roster here, now we bring in a pointless circus.

Tebow sucks, and any franchise trying to win has no business involving themselves with him.

Sanchez or Tebow.... I guess there's always somebody out there worse off than you... suddenly I don't feel so bad being a Colts fan.

Thats harsh and to be honest you might be overestimating the Jets to suggest they deserve much better right now!. Tebow won't make a top quality QB but he can bring pressure to Sanchez which is needed. Sanchez has been wrapped in cotton wool as a poster above pointed out, i'm fascinated to see how long he lasts once the fans get on his back (a game? two games? five minutes??)

Tebow comes accross as an absolute gent and he conducted himself with great dignity throughout the Manning affair. I wish him all the best in NY.

Why give him a new contract then? The whole situation has been handled terribly by the Jets.

As a Tebow fan and a New York Jets fans. I have conflicted emotions. One thing's for sure Tebow will no doubt help an already conflicted dressing room. Things will at least be more interesting as a Jets fans.

    Long live Tebow!

    J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets!

The contract extension was nothing more than a way to create more cap room. The deal give Sanchez an extra 2million and just restructures his contract to allow him to stay till 2013 and if we want to cut him at the start of 2013 it costs us nothing.

To free up cap space. The terms of the new contract don't change anything re: getting rid of Sanchez if they need to.

Tebow deal could be off according to Schefter.

Filed to ESPN (1): Denver and Jets have encountered hangup in language in Tim Tebow's contract that could nullify trade.

Never a dull moment with Tebow - clearly he wants to go to Florida - up to the Jags or Miami to pony up a 4th rounder +

Let's hold the presses for the moment.
Trade could be nullified. The Jets would owe Denver recapture money of around 5million. Might be unwilling to pay it.

Same thing I said about Tebow last night. I'm happy for anybody to come in to breathe down Sanchez's neck.
I don't see how there can be any real downside to the trade if it goes fully. We are getting him for a 4th rounder, his contract is cheapish and him along with Sanchez will make the Jets much harder to plan against than last year IMO. The only real haters are people who still call Mark the Sanchize and disgruntled AFC East fans who love Timmy.
