Typical ZAG heifers, nice shape and muscle to them. A lack of milk is a problem with ZAG cows tho.
Have you tried Curaheen Earp, i think he's a better option than ZAG if you breed your own replacements, nice heifers and good bulls off him, good muscle to his calves.

    Every field is soft!

If I had to choose between the two I'd take the Lim, I'm a sucker for a nice deep set tail. :D

They are both LMx! Just one came out looking like a CH! The obvious LM would be my preference also.

Don’t really select bull, just tell the AI to make sure they are easy calvers and take the chances from there. Starting to look a little closer at it though.

Easy calving and quiet cattle are more important to us than anything though. Being easy to get into calf being a big bonus also so ZAG prob hits the right notes.

I bought some straws, but haven't used him yet. Just be aware of his Myostatin status which is - F94L/Q204X . Not quiet sure what this means, but I think if you use him on a cow of similar status you could run into calving problems. All Limousins tend to be F94L/F94L
Eurogene, unlike Dovea and Munster/pg don't publish the Myostatin Status of their bulls

I spotted it on the UK Limousin database.

ICBF give Neymar a carcase weight of 42kgs, carcase conformation of 3.11, muscle score of 129 and a skeletal score of 129, don't see many bulls with those sort of figures.
Then based on three calvings they give him a calving difficulty of 3.4% at 70% reliability, this is some joke. It will be interesting to see his calving difficulty figure in a few years.

    I have a purebred Lim cow here, genotyped and all. She has the following figures;

    2.5% at 72% Rel
    Muscle - 127
    skeletal - 129
    Milk - 2.9kg at 49%

Only problem is she is very poor for milk, which would make you wonder about the accuracy of the rest.

    What’s she like for height?

Fully agree, I’ve a medium-small cow where I want to use a tall bull, people tell you X bull breeds tall but figures can be opposite which can be frustrating

Funny a stock bull could have 40-80 calves in 5+ years and he’s 49%

Very very tall. Like a race horse. She's a complete pet. She follows me around the yard looking for a head scratch.
I crossed her with lodge hamlet last year and got a butty muscley bull.

I see the new PG beef catalogue is out, a few new CH and Lim bulls.

Lapon CH4321 looks decent, anyone tried him?

    weighted 195kg at 140 days.

started on ration and just weaning now

Nice bone to her, she could be a keeper.

Yeah sometimes the figures would have you wondering alrite, they're only a guide i suppose.
Gamin would be a good job on that cow maybe.

Ya I've used Gamin a good bit this year. I always like to breed for a heifer, so would like a bull for her to have milk. I was thinking maybe JT with pg/Munster.

I'm using Eurogene bulls here and it's very annoying that they don't publish the Myostatin status.

I'm really surprised ICBF don't publish the Myostatin status. I'd love to know why not.

Gene Ireland put it on their Spring 2020 catalogue.

What is docility and daughters milk like with him?
Do you need to use him on well muscled cows for best results?

Daughters milk isn't hectic but no limousin bull is imo, probably not the most docile, my best cow off him is out of a big sim x fr, but he does cross well on the smaller cows

I had a heifer calf off him last year off a ZAG heifer, nice calf but she wasn't quiet and i sold her. Her mother had a heifer calf off Knottown Roy this year and she's very quiet, she'd walk up to me in the field for a scratch.
That's the only calf off Roy i have but have six heifers incalf to him for the spring hopefully.
I've been using Highfield Odran for years now and i think he's a super bull and his calves have been quiet or very quiet here and good quality.
I see Spiddal Pat has a poor docility score on ICBF and i won't be using him again, i'd use Odran or Roy again no problem.

Anyone but Ionesco (ion) straws from Munster/ pg the last time they had them?

    I bought 5 at €18 each and 4 used with 4 repeats.
By comparison, I've used maybe 8 straws from Bova Ai of Gamin and excel and not one repeat.

It depends on the cow. I'm going to chance a few Gamin (ZGM) heifers this year from milky cows.
Cross Liam (Lm4591) should be worth a try too. He's by Hawk who is very good for milk. Moondharrig Knell (Lm4217) should have milk too.
Mix it up I suppose, until they are proven.

Not the same but I had 5 repeats from 5 straws with On-Dit

Same here, I only got one pregnancy from 4 straws too, a ZAG heifer held.

FZF is the best cow making limousin bull i've used, better than On-Dit i think.
He breeds powerful cows and real good bulls. He is harder calved than average and lacks a bit of milk, best used on medium sized milky cows.

Had no issues with most of the Dovea bulls I used this year, bar a few which missed the copper injection so were my own fault.
I've no idea what my big blonde is incalf to, put Ecolo & SOY on her so I get a surprise :D

ZXT cow-heifer incalf to CWI mentioned above, should be an interesting cross.

Good to hear I've a 20 month heifer off him ready to bull in jan
