Topaz(Glasnevin, Dublin) still at 1.59 for petrol while all other garages from Blanch to Finglas to Santry seem to be around 1.50 mark now.

Seen 149.9 for Petrol and 144.9 for Diesel around Waterford. Theres a good few still higher than that and quite a variation in between

I've noticed a 1 or 2c increase in petrol in the normally cheaper stations over the past week.

    Not a good sign

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,999 ✭✭✭Spipov

noticed a slight increase too. some places that were 148.9 going to 150.9 petrol

Maybe there's been less of a demand for diesel so far this winter. Put the increase on petrol, rather than dropping diesel.

Oil was $103 for a while and the euro was worth $1.40! (Record so far)

Prices went down 3c in Newbridge! Ridiculous! They're going back up now again.

And today it's $108 and a euro is $1.35. As well as tax and VAT and blah de blah.

Have a look at how much tax has been slapped on since January 2010 and factor in the exchange rate at the time and you won't have much change left out of the 30 cent difference.

will the crisis in the ukraine have an effect on fuel prices??

Prices are dropping slightly tonight wholesale after almost 2 weeks of wholesale increases. OPEC are producing their lowest output since Jan 2011 thus a reduction in availability will rise prices slightly. US has larger than normal stockpiles in Cushing as the US demand has fallen approx 2.5% in last 3 weeks.

Until the higher prices backlog has cleared OPEC will sit tight and prevent prices dropping.

Too early to say if Ukraine have a big effect, they are mostly self sufficient supply wise in that region and are rarely affected or affect Western European pricing. A big concern is the 11+% free fall in Russian stocks today, worst since 2008, that might see a huge reduction in demand which again will see tightening of additional available fuel which would normally have a slight downward affect on the price.

I'm sure it's recommended somewhere here, but I'd recommend anyone to check out http://www.pumps.ie. More users, more accuracy.
