    Topaz Craughwell Galway 1.39 today

Their fuel doesn't seem the best though, I heard some dodgy stuff about it.

Like what? Seems most of Cork fills up there at times, it's always busy. Must be some repeat custom

It's always busy because it's always cheaper, some of my friends said they were down a bit on power after using their fuel, they use Topaz or Maxol now, I've filled up there one or two times in the Yaris and it was grand, this is just their word.

Both esso's in palmerstown(west Dublin) were 148.9 for petrol last night and the applegreen in between them was 147.9. Even Texaco beside the foxhunter were down to 149.9 yesterday and they're often a couple of cent a litre more than the others.

Daysul in maxol naavan yesterday was 142.9 still.

I think they're always dearer than everyone else in the area.

Applegreen just off the M1 Julianstown Exit was down to 138.9 (maybe .8 - wasn't paying that much attention) for diesel this morning.

Top at Kilmoon Cross (N2) was 137.9 for diesel on Sunday. The stations from Ashbourne to Kilmoon Cross always seem to be very cheap, but then again Topaz at the Square (Tallaght) was under 140 at the start of the week, and that's usually an expensive station.

I pay no attention to the price of petrol.

Their fuel doesn't seem the best though, I heard some dodgy stuff about it.

My understating is that, due to the sheer volume that they shift, they can buy at a better rate.

As for poor fuel, well some people think more expensive is better.

And as for dodgy fuel. .. Well given the hundreds of cars (maybe over a thousand) that pass thru there every day, surely if there was serious fuel quality issues, lots of people would be affected.

It could well be fine, this is just what I heard from some of my buddies, it was perfectly fine for me the times I used them.

137.9 for Diesel in Applegreen near Youghal Bridge on the N25

138.9 for Diesel in Topaz at roundabout by Centre Park Road in Cork

    both yesterday

Even topaz dundrum, which is normally a good 5c plus higher than surrounding stations is under 150 now.
Annoying the way if you look at the map on pumps.ie, everything from d14 east shows up red,no competition at all, while almost all the cheap spots are in d6 and d6w.

1.37.8 for diesel in applegreen aka blackquarry Kilkenny

Filled up earlier at Esso beside Ratoath. 141.9 petrol.

Then I went to the Malahide estuary and promptly got myself stuck. Didn't realise there was a two foot drop into the water when turning and down went one side of the car. Got dragged up eventually with no apparent damage. :o

Chris what's your car like running on 95RON? Or would it run better on more premium fuel?

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,293 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

Jesus, petrol has not come down at all where I am in Mayo. 156.9 for petrol this evening. There are only 3 stations locally and the 3 operate a pricing agreement by the looks of it as they are always nearly identical price wise.
They appear to be taking the piss this time though. Must be the dearest in the country at this stage.

That's a fukking joke Mick. The fact I got it today for a full 15 pence cheaper than you is a farce. I'd have no doubt those 3 garages of yours have a cosy arrangement.

Its perfectly fine, It be better if 98 Ron was available here but the car can take 95 without suffering from knock.
