Heavy snow falling horizontally here in the strong gusts. Lights were flickering for a while too; I think it's because the wind very rarely blows this strong from a northerly direction.

Dublin 6. It's not calm, just breezy. Not blowing a storm. Have had plenty of storms in the past threatening to take the roof off and no lights flickering like they are now. I only remember this happening in severe electrical storms.

Lights have been flickering here all night really, but literally only flickering.

Have pre-emptively lit a few candles, just in case :D

Just having a a look at the Met reports at 10,very windy right across the place at the moment, lights flickering again in Castlebar, was ok there for about an hour.rain/sleet has cleared but blustry showers have now arrived.

by blustery showers i presume you mean a wintry mix rather than showers purely of snow or hail? i was hoping with the clearance we'd get passing snow showers overnight:(
as it looks as if during the day tomorrow sleet and snow will be confined to high ground.

Ah, that's probably it, that makes this storm unusual from the usual stronger storms in terms of unusual light flickering :)

Ya rain and hail, passing over fairly quickly in the stong and very gusty wind at the moment.

Is any snow sticking there, or is just very bad due to visibility ?

That yellow band on the rainfall radar is finally moving. It's so slow. East Coast from Dublin downwards in for good dumping of snow! It's looking like it's going to shave Dublin, come on head a bit more North-East!

snowing on and off here light at times, slight dusting on the car. the front seems to be moving eastwards a bit quicker now. I dont think the snow will amount to alot in the east tonight except over high ground as its just too wet and the snow just isnt heavy or persistent enough to create 'chaos'.

Just back from Mullingar via Kilbeggan. Took the N52/ old N6. Visibility very poor in parts with horizontal snow and gales. Large branches across the road in some parts, but all in all, it was passable, with due care. Certainly a memorable March storm, and can confirm the flickering light phenomenon here too.

Little bit of light flicker here now, no sign of the snow coming back, yet.

light snow here, very windy nothing sticking. Flakes are huge, and really wet. The ground is so wet that nothing can stick, not even to cars. I'd actually prefer it all just went away rather than this rain and wet snow . . .

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,339 ✭✭✭✭Supercell

The radar is so wrong, its insane in the membrane here right now.
Blizzard conditions, ground is too warm but that will sort it self out if this continues.
    Currently 0.6/-0.5°C falling
Snow settling on grass and cars, the rest will follow.
