No snow here in London, and frankly I hope we never get it until December. I'm sick of snow. We've had plenty of heavy rain, though, and the Met Office is predicting sleet for tomorrow.

The wind is getting much, much worse here... very dangerous out there in that gale.

    Be safe folks.

    Deep,

Us Mayo feckers are resourceful you know - gloworms come in handy - it's alright for you in the big smoke with your electricity and the railway on its way to you, we still have turf lamps! ;)

Beautiful snowy bedlam here in North Tipp!

Horizontal blizzard - almost total whiteout, drifting wherever it can, with flakes the size of snowballs thrashing the side of our cottage.

Can barely see out of the north-east facing windows, and here's why:

    15011_412695775711_622940711_5032414_6667549_n.jpg
Taken less than half an hour ago!

On a more serious note, I've got a hospital appt tomorrow morning, and its kind of important to be there....much as I hate to ask (as a bona fide snow-addict!) is there a chance this will have cleared by the morning?

    I dont have a flashlight. :(

Get yourself some Cyalumes. You can get them in 6" 8 hour white.

Pretty darn good, long shelf life in a foil wrapper, non-toxic, no risk of fie and they won't go out if you drop them either. Simply unwrap, "snap" and shake. Instant light for 8 hours. Not as bright as a torch (naturally) but give enough light to stop you breaking your neck and you can get high intensity ones that last for 30 mins.

    They're commonly called snaplights also.

Various brands available but to be honest the Cyalume ones are really the ones you can rely on.

Caution, there are stores selling ones branded very similar.

(mods:- remove this post if it breaks any rules on mentioning brands.)

i see. the trick is to really not want any snow and you end up getting plastered:pac:

Yeah, I was thinking earlier in the day when the snow was stuck up north that maybe just maybe it won't be too bad, how wrong one can be, now plastered, drifting, blizzard, gale force winds....road is unusable with the car, where the snow wasn't being blown around there was around 4 inches and rising.....it will make the warm weather all the nicer when it comes.

Rain's turned back to snow in D15 now.

edit - or turning back..in truth it's probably some mix right now.

Saw the weather forecast after the nine o'clock news. Snow was mentioned, but nothing about accumulations or anything effecting road conditions. I have to travel into the midlands early tomorrow morning, can I presume the 'severe Blizzards and heavy snow' is off for tonight and that it will just be stuff that wont stick ?

I bet you that the Claremorris-Tuam-Galway line will not be opened as promised in 2011. More FF soft soaping is my guess, this government has done nothing for the west, and I can't see that changing very much.

What about the N18/M18, M6, WRC Galway to Limerick open now?

Can't believe I'm defending Biffo. I must be mad.
