Folks, mt VU+ Duo is still under repair with the vendor in Spain. They have sent me a few file transfer images as evidence that the box network port is working normally. Can anyone tell me what they make of these images? What speeds do these represent?

I thought a 100Mbit lan connection should give a file transfer of (100/8 = 12.5KB) not Kb (capital b's etc). Theoretical speeds I know in the images but 8-11Kb seems very slow

I think those figures are 8000-11000 Kb/s, so about right.
They use the period/full stop on the continent where we would use a comma to express large numbers.
Look at the filesizes they are transferring: 400-500Mb

Not what you wanted to hear I know...

No not at all. Its great to hear and explains an awful lot. Many thanks

I supposed you'd be annoyed to find it's working OK, having sent it away etc.
But if you're happy to find it working properly, that's great:)

When will you get it back?

It's the AverTV Volar Black HD A850 stick, irishchris.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/AVerTV-Volar-Black-HD-A850/dp/B001MM5TMO/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

According to above Amazon reviews it works in linux, but below it's hit and miss:

In Tuner Config for Tuner B, have you it set to "Equal to.. Tuner A"? As this implies to the software that you only have one IF input.

I've only got one input from my dish, so I've set up Tuner B to be equal to Tuner A.

I've just bought a Nova T and tested it on a laptop, works fine. When I plugged it into the back of the Vu+, I thought it would appear as Tuner C and I would be able to do a scan. Instead there's no sign of any new tuner in the config. Even after a reboot.

Anything simple that I'm missing (often there is)? Running updated Vix 2.0

EDIT - turned out the simple thing I was missing was to install the plugin from the dvb section of plugins. And do a complete restart. When Tuner C appeared, had to set it up with details of my local transmitter, Three Rock 738000/8MHZ
    http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?6323-NOVA-WIN-T-on-ViX-2.0&highlight=setup+nova

I'm still not quite sure how to get those Irish channels into the same bouquet....

Any links to threads on the Vix forums with simple set up guides? I'd like to get Cross EPG working with the Irish DTT channels, and picons - that's all I'm trying to get set up for now!

    Folks

I just want to say the following regarding ielektroniks.com.
I made an error in thinking my VU+ Duo was faulty. It was not. I sent the unit back to ielektroniks.com in Spain. They tested it and confirmed it is working perfectly. So it's my mistake and my fault. I am covering postage costs.

I was treated very well by Carlos and I can confirm that this is a decent company. I apologise to them if I caused them any negativity here. They are decent and reliable, I would now highly recommend them.

There were a few issues to do with their website being down briefly and translation issues. They sent me an address that I needed to clarify on here, they also use the decimal point instead of the comma in numbering so I misread their data throughput figures. These are translation issues that I hope we can both learn from.

Well done Ielektroniks. Highly recommended and thanks for the time and patience you have shown me.

Now where's my box? I need a tele fix :D

Great to hear, so what was the issue that was causing the network light to go orange on your router?

Could it have been the non existant network issues that (didn't) occured at the start of the vix 2.0 release?

Hi islaremota and welcome to boards.

Thanks for the discount codes I might consider a solo in the future for upstairs in the house. Christmas perhaps, if I can get everything working with the Duo by then!!

By the way, nothing wrong with recommending ielektroniks.com, but do you have any kind of connection with them? No problem if you do, it's just we prefer people to open about their connections. In fact, many people on this thread seem to be purchasing from that store, so it would be great to have an official representative!
