Good source? If the Tuam bypass opens early where would it re-join the N17 on a temporary basis? The Kilmore roundabout?

Source has been right before, bypass would connect with n17 at kilmore, time will tell

Until there's an official announcement, it's just rumours. They've stated recently (in the last few weeks) that there's going to be no phased opening see Q2 newsletter, first paragraph.

Surely if a section is ready they will open it ASAP if practical to do so?

If it's not open they will still be responsible for security, vandals, rubbish dumping, halting sites etc.

Noting previous speculation about Tuam bypass early opening, I wonder if it would be possible to open this section early as well from end of current motorway at Gort to Kiltiernan interchange. These 2 areas are the only locations along the route to cross the existing N17 & N18 respectively.

How long would it roughly take from Annagh Hill to Gort on the new motorway?

Presumably if they mentioned early opening a media circus would follow, along with politicians jumping up and down trying to get some credit for it.

Hopefully their policy is to say nothing until a section is actually ready to open and then just do it.

I just heard today expect the Tuam Bypass to open early next year, the bog is still sinking on M17 <Roadbridge section> and they are supposed to switch their attention to Bypass, also seen sign that the flyover at Killeelaun is to open on 4/10/2016

Due to officially open early 2018, which was always the plan. Construction only began in 2014. Will probably open late 2017.

    Construction started on the 15/01/15

The opening date has been announced as been brought forward to late 2017, IF the remainder of the project <sisk lagan> sections are brought up to speed, they are currently behind roadbridge

It provides extra weight to speed up settling of the embankments.

Since this project started, and before that, I have been calling for a phased opening.

    Open Tuam bypass first, definitely.

If possible, I'm not so sure about these, but to open next:

Tuam to Annagh Hill, then let traffic flow back onto N63/N17 as rest gets built
Gort to Kiltiernan interchange with N17
