Im surprised how many people like Diana

    She's amazin! :)

I think Cheryl is the best Mentor by a long-shot
She can relate better as she started out on a reality show. And now shes in one of the biggest girlbands in history

Also, she seems to actually shive a git about her singers, and she told them she doesnt want anyone goin on with ANY doubts about the song they're singing, where as the rest convince their acts they know what they're doin [yeah Danni, great song for Rachel!]

I changed my mind about Laura, I could see her talent coming through on Saturday, but I think shes best singin pretty mainstream, her "uniqueness" seems forced. Too much falsetto and shouting. They usually have to pull the talent out of them, but i think with Laura, they hafta try stuff it back in

I thought all of her auditions were crap though, ESPECIALLY First Time Ever I Saw Your Face! I love that song, and she killed it, in the bad sense!! :(

Hope Cheryl's 3 make the final, and I'd love if Diana won, and Leon won last year, so it goes without saying "there can be mirrrrracles, when you belieeeeeeeeeeve"

    haha

JLS are good for a band, but still suck. Seriously, they should get rid of the groups altogether and add an extra person to each category

    Some News
Tabloid reports have claimed that X Factor contestant Diana Vickers behaves like a diva backstage on the talent show.

According to The Sun, the 17-year-old's demanding behaviour and "attitude" have upset staff.

"Diana comes across as really angelic and sweet on the show, but she makes a bit of a fuss," said a source.

"Most people behind the scenes think she needs a bit of a kick up the backside. She doesn't like being filmed before she has her makeup done and the constant cameras in the house that the finalists share."

The show's workers apparently put up with her actions because producers are so impressed by her musical talents.

Vickers's performance of U2's 'With Or Without You' was praised by all the judges on last week's live show, with Louis Walsh describing her performance as "a breath of fresh air".
Ricky Gervais has hit back at X Factor judge Louis Walsh after he was used in a put-down on the ITV show.

Walsh said contestant Daniel's performance "didn't work for him" at all, adding that it was "very cruise ship".

"In fact, you remind me of Ricky Gervais singing karaoke at a Christmas party," he continued. "It didn't work for me at all."

Of the comments, The Office star told ITN: "Imagine Louis Walsh having a go at your looks. How did that make me feel?

"This is worse than when Dawn French said I was fat."
Will Young will perform as a guest star on the latest series of The X Factor.

Young, 29, found fame on reality TV singing contest Pop Idol in 2002, when he beat Gareth Gates to win the title.

The singer's relationship with judges Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh was rumoured to be frosty because of comments they've previously made about his career.

During Pop Idol, Cowell branded Young "distinctly average", while Walsh once described him as "[not] a very clever person".

A source told The Sun: "Will doesn't like Simon and Louis. However, it was this kind of show that gave him his career. He's not about to turn his back on it."

Young is currently promoting his fourth studio album Let It Go.

The final 12 contestants on The X Factor are set to record a charity single.

The singers, will release a cover of Mariah Carey’s hit Hero to raise money for Army charity Help For Heroes.

‘It’s a genius idea,’ a show insider tells the Daily Star. ‘In the past no one has been allowed to release a song before the winner.

‘But Simon has relaxed the rules and is releasing a single featuring all the finalists. Not everyone who makes the live shows ends up with a record deal, so this is a real gift for them.’

Mariah Carey is set to make a special appearance in the live shows.

It's bad news for ex-soap stars and ex-boyband members after a musical parody of The X Factor was forced to close following a threat of legal action.
The stage play called eXtra Factor was halfway through a tour of the UK when they were told to bring the curtain down, reports The Sun.
The cast of eXtra Factor included Kevin Kennedy (Coronation Street's Curly), Lisa Riley (Emmerdale's Mandy Dingle) and Antony Costa from boyband Blue. All the big names in other words.
Kevin Kennedy told The Sun: "It's disappointing because it was a good piece of theatre, but apparently we did something to upset Mr Cowell. Legally we couldn't combat that.
"I believe the producers are going to sort it out and maybe we should come back next year with the slogan 'The show Simon Cowell tried to ban'."
A spokesperson for The X Factor said they had taken action because the show was using the X Factor brand and logo, however, they also claimed that it was set to close anyway because it was making a loss.
X Factor spoofs seem to be flavour of the month at the moment as Peter Kay's parody of the show was watched by more than six million viewers on Channel 4 last weekend. We'd love to know what Simon Cowell and co thought of that. Ironically, the song featured in that show is outselling real X Factor winner Leon Jackson in this week's charts.

I can't believe Cowell. What does he want from Ruth? Does he want to turn her into a sideshow? A gimmick where she sings the first few lines in Spanish every week? Or does he want her to sing a whole song in Spanish (which would be a mistake imo)?

I agree with Louis and Cheryl, the performance of Purple Rain was world class and for the second week in a row, a judge has copped out into deadlock. The wrong act imo went home last week, thank god that it didn't happen this week.

How did Rachel and Daniel avoid the bottom two?

Yeah Simon was all over the place tonight

He went mad at Alexandra calling her a copycat, yet Laura sang Fallin' EXACTLY the same way as Alicia Keys, and his own act Austin did a COPY, of a COPY, of the original, but that was grand

AND, he chose that song for Leona Lewis' first live show

    wtf like???

And he was bein a prick to Ruth

They're all pushin her to be like Shakira

It wasnt even a question she was indeed world class and Girlband were rubbish

I'd say he just did that Deadlock to get back at Ruth, to make a chance for her to go home, but not be on his head

I always liked simon regardless of his meanie reputation, but tonight just took the biscuit

    WHAT A CXNT!

    Diana sounded amazin again

    Scott wasnt great, borin performance

another bad song choice for Rachel

Spot on in regards to Simon and it is a problem with all the judges too. Take last year for instance, Leon got scathed for staying in his comfort zone. Eh, wtf? There are not many acts that can make a career out of successfully transcend genres. Artists make it big by sticking to what they know best, so Cowell was an idiot in regards to what he said to Alexandra.

Totally agree about Ruth too and I actually think Simon was trying to sabotage her. How he could bring it to deadlock after that performance of Purple Rain was shocking. And that's not an outlandish claim because it has happened before on X Factor. Louis saving the Conways over Sharon's amazing act (forget her name) anyone?

Diana was great, but I thought that at times the quirkiness of her voice was hurting the song at times. She hasn't struck the right balance yet. I think Scott played it safe, which is what he badly needed but I do agree that it was dull.

Am i the only one who thought Austin was great his vouce really suited the song singing it like that.Who went home last night missed it

Girlband were rubbish, they can just about hold it together when they all sing, but individually, they just cant cut it, but the were not as bad as Daniel, seriously, who is voting for him? he's crap and does look like Ricky Gervais.

I thought JLS were good, but they're voice are a little bit too high pitched and screechy.

Ruth was just average with the MJ song, but her version of Purple Rain was great, why does she not put that effort in each week, it takes being in the bottom two for her to sing the way she can?????

I think Scott is OK, and will do well once he is kept in Balled territory.

Is it just me, or is there something seriously creepy about Austin, I think he is trying too hard and looks really uncomfortable.

I think Alexandra and Eoghan are the only two that have really shown an ability to give the songs real meaning, there is a truth and melody in their voices that really nails the songs.

I don’t get Diana at all, I just don’t see how she is getting the praise she is. The whole 'nerves' thing is just getting on my nerves, but I don’t think she has sung well at all.

Thought Rachel peaked last night, the song really showed her limitations, she was no more then average.

I think the standard is generally low, I think Alexandra and Eoghan are the two real standout performers with JLS coming in third.

I reckon Cowell will can it after this season, the standard is generally poor and the bitchiness between him and Louis is just embarrassing to watch. The judges dont even tell the truth, they praise crap performances each week. Dannii Minougue has to be one of the biggest turn offs to appear on TV.

Oh yeah, Girls Aloud were rubbish too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,382 ✭✭✭Motley Crue

Does anyone else think that pushing out two girlbands in the first two weeks is a little in the direction of this competition changing and the public simply rejecting the idea of another Girls Aloud or Pussycat Dolls or The Saturdays and so forth.

Also, that guy who ripped off Chris Cornells arrangement of a Michael Jackson song was a joke, and then they tried to hide it by his vocal coach saying it was "an original version" and it was a risk for this guy. And only for Louis pointed out he had heard it on American Idol I don't think Simon would have said anything.

I think that guy who is 38 is obviously been the victim of ageism and they have made it clear he is too old to be in this programme because he cannot be swayed so easily by some money and a record contract. For this reason I like him and hope he wins

And final comment, about Rachael, I think pushing a black woman to be a soul signer is extremely racist.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 589 ✭✭✭vincenzo1975

out of the final 12 acts from last week, there is really only about 3-4 that have any chance of making it, and then it will only be a british/Irish success if any.

The standard compared to American idol is appauling. Even your man Leon Jackson will be a forgotten name after this years christmas number 1.

not sure If I think the Rachel = soul singer is racist, she herself said that that was her comfort zone.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,905 ✭✭✭✭Handsome Bob

I wouldn't go that far as her strongest performances have been ones with soul. But I totally agree in regards to Austin, I was saying 'fair balls!' to him for making Billy Jean his own and I actually thought he did well, then Louis exposes the sham. Poor form by Simon there.

I honestly feel that she has a lot more to give. I just couldn't believe how ridiculous her song choice was and she only herself to blame for that.

As with Austin, we've seen that it is the judges that arrange the style of the song. If you weren't impressed by the performance I'd blame Danni. Hopefully now that Ruth has shown what she can do Danni will trust her more to sing like that every week.

Girls Aloud, particularly Cheryl, were absolutely brutal. They can't sing live. It must be so sickening for people like Alexandra and Laura, girls who have strong voices, to be judged by someone who really isn't that great a singer. Yeah, Cheryl's been through the reality stuff and the band have been successful (although lets face it, no Nadine no Girls Aloud) but at the end of the day, who the fúck is Cheryl Cole (or Dannii) to sit there and tell these people they're not good enough. It sickens me.

As for last nights show, it was decidedly 'Meh'.

I'm glad Girl Band went home over Ruth but I can't see Ruth making it a lot further.

The deadlock thing amuses me. Tbh, I think the only reason they do it is because the producers think it makes for better telly. It's like when they say no to somebody and then make a big show of "oh no, we've made a mistake. Let's go get them back." Its so staged and it's pretty insulting to the viewers really.

No offence but people like you annoy me, This is a contest for talent and said person Daniel is not that talented, He should not win because he might be getting ageist comment's..

I think Eoghan and Alexandra are the only two that can put real feeling and meaning to the songs.

Its really poor this year, especially compared to American Idol.

The production of the show leaves an awful lot to be desired, the backstories(cringe) are as long as the songs, yet the songs are cut short with versus missing all over the place.

Dermot O leary looks like a spanner every time he tries to lean in and give the girls a kiss, and the xtra factor is a pathetic pioece of filler between the real show and the results.

Still cant wait for Saturday Night though :(

How many of all of you are sitting there and slagging off girls aloud actually sing?????????

They were singing live, to a huge audience in a huge hall which I'm sure does nothing to help them with listening to the timing of the music etc as well as the strain that it causes on your voice to sound louder than you would in a recording studio. Girls Aloud are RECORDING ARTISTS!!!!!!

The people performing on the show are being coached specifically so that their vocals suit the live music. There's a huge difference between people who are coached for live singing and recording!!

I thought that girls aloud did a great job. At least they sang live which is more than can be said for most artists out there these days!!!

It's not like it was the first time they sang live Gal, they were pretty flat, I don't think they wanted to be there. That's not to say they are bad, every artist has their bad days.

Lighten up, we were just laughing at the irony of one of the judges being awful on the mic.:p

Rachel should have been in the bottom two last night very poor performance.

Ruth was great although why is going out with Riff Raff from the Rocky Horror show :)
Simon needs to stop pushing her to sing in spanish, although I think Danni is a very poor mentor she should be telling Cowell to get stuffed when he starts saying that crap.

btw why can't we vote anymore in the Republic? We could last year, whats happened?

Who says she owes u a reply?

U know what she meant. A lot of Pop acts lipsynch

She mis-worded her sentence, get over it

Its kinda crap how we can vote anymore. Just hope the tour still comes to Belfast at least, although it stupid that it doesnt come to Dublin, a much better location

So its shapin up that Diana will be in the final, i hope she is!
I still think it'll be Diana, Laura & Alexandra, with Laura or Diana comin 1st

Dont think Alexandra will win but really hope she gets somethin out of the show, she's amazin

If Rachel fvcks up again next week I think she'll be gone soon

I dont think Eoghann will win, or even be in the final

Yes, hes good, but hes not great, and hes not unique at all IMO

Austin will prob go far cos girls will vote for him, and he has a great voice, but again hes doesnt use it to its potential, and hes not unique

Scott, Daniel and Ruth will most likely go over the next 3 weeks

For a Michael Jackson week only 1 act did a upbeat number

    I really enjoyed JLS's performance

Eoghan did really well with his version of Ben

    Cheryl looks too skinny

    Rachel is terribly annoying.

Everyone has a backstory, hardluck story it shouldnt matter on the show i hope she goes soon

Yep, I have to grudgingly (:pac:) admit that JLS really put on a show, ehich cancelled out any toning issues they had.

Can someone tell me if I missing something here please. Why do the judges keep going on about how great the little blonde girl is? She can't sing, she just talks the lyrics and screws up her nose a lot and if she does try to sing she does it from some weird place in the back of her nose or throat.

Is it the cutesy factor they're going for?
