They move gardaí around out of fear they might be too IN touch with the local people.

Imagine if a garda's childhood friend committed a crime. If that garda policed his local area he may be more inclined to let the friend off.

    Nobody polices their local area.

    Hi everyone,

Just have a question for people who have applied for the campaign. Has anyone received the text from publicjobs about it? And after applying are we supposed to receive a confirmation email?

    Thanks.

Plenty of members police their local area, just not straight away.

If you cant read a simple document and understand it, then good luck with the verbal reasoning test! Most of you have failed it already

Is there any idea how many jobs are going?

The Irish Times predicted 30,000 applications.

So all things being equal you'd have a 1% chance of getting in.

    Hi there,
I was wondering would it be pointless applying to join the guards if you have no community involvement to date.
    Thanks

Apply away. Sure there was 18 year olds hired last time around straight out of school who wouldn't have had much experience of any sort. That said, it wouldn't hurt to try get involved in something or other.

Maths is not a must your right.

If this is correct that Maths is no longer a requirement from LC or equivalent, then I'm sure we can expect a Numerical Reasoning Test perhaps??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 445 ✭✭RUNNER 1

^^^^ Thats what i was thinking . Cause no were does it say maths has to be one of the 5 .

There will be plenty of time between submitting your application and sitting an interview to get some community work to do.

I did it last time I applied. There was definitely a test with numbers on it!

It is possible that the analytical reasoning test might have had numbers throughout some sequences perhaps. As for the NR test, I hope it doesnt show its ugly face this time round
