Windy here just west of Arklow at the moment but clear and the top of the car is frozen which is a sign that the air temp is at least freezing given that this water has frozen even with a strong wind.
(It would be a good sign at any rate that precipitation would be snow if it comes)

I've changed the batteries in the outside thermometer so I'll know shortly :D

Weathercheck - CASEMENT - RECENT RAIN - Casement is in West Dublin.

Very heavy snow at 6pm just north of me in Abbeyleix. Was more wet snow/flurry here in Durrow, but then again we are 20m or so lower in Durrow.

OK looking at the latest sat pics im going stick my head out
and say that 90% of the country will have a white one!!

Just look at that mass to the North west of Ireland and heading
bang into the whole country, stunning, i'll be up till around
11pm and will post a few more times before bed but
i really do know think that many many areas will wake
upto 3-5cm of snow tomorrow morning, just imagine
those kids faces, and mine :D:D

    clear here too.
Weathercheck if it is raining in casement in inland co Dublin, then the chances of snow at portmarnock on the warmer coast are slim.
You will have to wait for tomorrows trough or untill the wee small hours when it has cooled more.

/me is off to the pub now-taxi is here :)

looks severe especially for eastern NI :)

I would like to take this oppurtunity to wish you
all a very happy and merry Christmas and for
most areas it will be white :D Stay safe and
enjoy any snow ye get, no doubt i'll be posting

After some earlier snow showers onto very wet ground, we now have sleet falling. According to my outside thermostat, it is 0.7'C outside which should give snow.

Weathercheck, going to bed this early?? I have loads of presents for my 2 sons to wrap and then watch a DVD yet. I will probably be up at about 7am with my 6 year old all exited because of Santy, it would be great if it was white outside as well!

Well, just back from my xmas eve walkies to visit family members. The sleety snow has vanished and turned to the odd bit of rain. My ears are ringing from the cold in the air, but the walk was a very nice piece of badly needed physical exercise, this is a small community and I have a lot of close relations spread throughout.

It is now 23:02pm and it is cold and dry, should be interesting tomorrow.

Temp has levelled off at 3.5C. Even grass temp is not going lower than 0C. A recent 20 second shower but no sign of hail or anything wintery.
    Sky is quite clear atm.

Lots more hail and wind here but no snow yet. The hail isn't sticking either. :(

Clear with some clouds here in Dublin, with some damp pathces in places. I really want snow, but for some reason I don' think it'll come. :(

The sleety rain is back, very heavy and hammering off the windows and the ground is becoming white once more :) .

I think that the people who have been predicting widespread whiteness are being a little over-optimistic.

My Prediction : Most areas, particularly in the east will remain totally snow-free. I know nothing about meteorology, but am just using simple common sense :)

    Merry Christmas :)

so far everything here has gone as i expected... clear skys for past 12 hours, not a cloud in sight here in the east, not only that but the temperature has risen since the early evening and the frost has melted.... i think i have more chance of winning the lottery than seeing a snow shower. even if im wrong so far we've spent a month talking about this and all we have for it is a few miserable flurries in the north and west....im off to bed and hopefully i can eat my words by the morning and wake up to a winter wonderland....

There was a shower here about an hour ago,I know this because the roads which were dry when I went to the pub are wet now,it didnt get to Arklow but about a half mile out the road.
The hills around croghan mountain are white since that shower.
Theres a strong frost here too now and the temp outside is just one degree.

Carlow has seen nothing apart from the odd bit of sleety rain, very cold out now but also very dry, I'm off to bed to dream of a dusting.

Merry Christmas everyone hope you see at least a flake.
