    Yes. I named both and it always saved me money as a young driver

    Meant to post this a good few weeks ago as renewed at the start of the month.

    38 year old male living in Limerick County;
    12 years NCB in own name and 5 years NCB prior to that as a named driver;
    Full Irish drivers license with no penalty points, accidents, claims, convictions, endorsements or medical conditions;
    Toyota Auris 2009 1.4 litre petrol, 5dr;
    Social, domestic and pleasure use;
    Comprehensive cover with step back bonus protection and breakdown assist;
    Premium €460 with Insuremycars.ie - Underwriter Allianz.

    Looking for insurance on a GTI, as my own company Liberty won't quote people who are <30 (which is insane).

    29 yo male, 3 years NCB in own name with named driver before that.

    162 VW Golf GTI.

    Full Irish for 12 years, 0 penalty points, 1 chip repair windscreen claim this year.

    2016 - 890 (1.6 diesel 2011 Ford Focus) - 25plus.ie
    2017 - 874 (1.6 diesel 2011 Ford Focus) - Liberty
    2018 - 897 (2.0 diesel 2013 VW Golf) - Liberty

    Quotes on Golf GTI

    AA - 1355
    Aviva - 1394
    Chill - 1253
    BOI - 1267
    its4women - 1400
    Supervalu - 1222
    AIG - 1136
    An Post - 1094
    RSA - 1068
    KennCo - 1081
    123.ie - 1041

    Leaning towards the KennCo quote, because it has something called excess protection, which effectively means you get your excess back after a claim. The others in that ball park are ~300 excess. I think RSAs quote is 500.

    Anyone have any recommendation between An Post, 123.ie, RSA or KennCo?

    Currently with Liberty TPFT- last year’s quote was around the €670 mark I think

    Renewal this year with Liberty- €721 TPFT/ €951 FC

    Shopping results so far:

    Aviva €633 fully comp (came in at €1,030 with a broker)

    Liberty new policy fully comp €784

    Kennco €844 fully comp

    2 independent brokers fully comp was between €900 and €1030

    Bank of Ireland prestige fully comp €474!! Can’t see myself getting anywhere near this good elsewhere!

    Was with Axa Broker Full Comp costing me €740 last year, My renewal was €790, rang up broker and told them I'm changing and they dropped to €720.

    Bank of Ireland Prestige quoted me €648.00 for Fully Comp and NCB protection so I went with that as the best quote I got, most were pie in the sky worse than Axa.

    Went with BOI and left Axa after 4 years as a customer. However if you decided to renew or change to Bank of Ireland I suggest you do it at least two to three weeks before your renewal date as it took them two weeks to send me my certificate and Insurance for the windscreen, they are woeful slow and you could be held on the phone for 10 minutes before they'd even bother to answer.

    Last Year:
    €3200 w/ First Ireland
    0 Years No Claims

    2003 Ford Focus 1.4L

    This Year:
    1 Year No Claims

    26 Year Old Male

    Comprehensive Cover

    €3300 Axa (First Ireland)
    €1460 Zurich (First Ireland)
    €1443 Liberty (First Ireland ; TPFT)
    €1600 AIB
    €1924 Kennco
    €1480 Axa Direct
    €2500 AA

    And the winner:
    €685! - Liberty Direct

    I have a motorbike policy with them which knocked 92 quid to bring it down to that price. Put my dad on it as well (Despite us living in different houses it knocked a good bit off the price). It's mad how much fiddling with the quote will bring it down. Delighted with the price anyway, wasn't expecting to get it anywhere near this price.

    Yep. Combination of old car, 0 no claims discount and Learner permit.

    2014 Nissan Leaf
    Ages: 40 and 50
    Full no claims, no points.

    Renewal with Allianz €360, thats fully comp, all protection.

    Quotes:
    123 = €660
    Chill = €493
    Axa = €604

    I initially was surprised at the renewal price, think its actually down on last year.
    Thought I'd try a couple of quotes but can't see anyone else beating the renewal so might just stop searching.

    Got renewal in the door. Aviva, €549.

    40 Year. No claims, convictions or points. Full licence, comprehensive. 1.6L Ford Focus Diesel. Used primarly in Clare.

    I checked around, and surprisingly, my renewal wasn't that bad. Then someone in work told me about a discount Bank of Ireland give to staff of the university I work it. Down to 429. And I can pay by direct debit over the year, for no additional charge.

    Soooooooooold.

    It's actually nice to see premiums going down (with some exceptions).

    Last year this thread wasn't as full of happy customers as it is now.

    Many quotes for younger drivers, older cars etc being reasonable, if not great value.

    My quote for this year (through another broker, not renewing with my current insurer) is costing me €1,400 cheaper than last year. I can't believe it. Nothing about my circumstances have changed except having one year no claims under my belt now.

    Delighted with myself.

    I'd rather not give my gender and exact age but I'm under 30 years old and on a Learner Permit.

    Last years premium cost me €3,800 (AXA)

    This year it will cost me €2,400 (through Sullivan Insurances)

    I just got a quote from Bank of Ireland, and its exactly the same as the renewal I got from Allianz.

    Do BoI use Allianz to underwrite, or just coincidence?

    Could be. Their link led me to rsa link, but maybe they have few more on offer.

    AIB had no cost monthly payment plan, if BoI is the same that could be the selling point, especially if the quote is high.

    Liberty is offering good quotes this year, too ;)

    Finance charge is high, though.

    Insurance companies are really really contrary.

    My renewal is up at the end of the month.

    AXA quoted me €1300 in 2018 on a people carrier used for family purposes, moved to the AA as they came in cheapest for equal cover at €850. Today the AA want €1100, rang around and AXA can do it for €700.

    Insurance really is like a game of monopoly, you don't know what you get unless you take part in the game.

    Same car the entire time and no changes of anything. Most likely they don't want my custom .

    It's not slow car indeed, small size factor with bigger displacement and turbo makes it very happy little car. Can't complain.
    My biggest issue is that I am Limerick city. I bet I am paying at least 200eu extra just for that.

    What really funny is, that I had Alfa GT 1.9 JTDM 04" and was told my insurance is 1k eu, because it's old, powerful and Alfa...
    Got brand new Seat and insurance still same and now qoutes going even up. Last year I spent hours filling in forms and calling for cheaper insurance and it was same or more everywhere else. This year I tried few quick ones and just didn't bother. Will bend over, pay 1k and wait again for a year with lube ready.

    While I'm happy it came down a bit, I think it should be cheaper because I have one year more NCB and 3 Penalty Points less than last year.

    The way they work it is cheeky. I should have been looking at a €300 reduction, but they increased the base premium from 1600 > 1900. Unfortunately I can't shop around because of the age and type of car.

    Renewal came in there a while ago, €711 on a 03 1.9 golf. I've had the car 15 years. Said this to herself from fbd. Got it down to €655. Happy enough with that.

    Two policies with Liberty; each reduced 8-10%.

    Anyone got any experience of An Post? Came in with the best quote for me

    Female, 60, 10+ no claims, no penalty points, 2010 Ford Fiesta, but have my daughter on the policy as named driver, She's 24, full licence (less than a year). An Post quoted 601 fully comp, breakdown assist, windscreen cover, step back. Currently with AA, quoting 630. They don't include breakdown assist, you have to get separate AA membership for 90. Their argument is that they are the only provider who will send a mechanic to fix your car. All others tow you to the nearest garage and you're liable for all other costs.

    TBH, I've only used breakdown assist at any point for a flat battery after hols so wasn't aware of this. I find the whole process so time-consuming and frustrating. the AA have come down more than 200 on the original quote but I think you'd need a degree in insurance to understand the Ts & Cs. You think you're covered until you make a claim, grrrr.

    Think I must be doing better than most. Just got my renewal notice from Aviva. €361 - up slightly from €337 last year, but still happy with it.

    Male, late 40s, driving a 1.4 litre Kia Ce'ed (131 reg). Not exactly a head-turning car, but it gets me around safely and economically.

    No penalty points, umpteen years NCB (never actually had a claim in approx. 25 years driving), with wife as a named driver - she has no penalty points either, and also has a full NCB on her own insurance for her own car. We also have house insurance with Aviva, so qualified for a loyalty discount.

    €361 price includes stepback NCB protection, driving other cars, windscreen cover, breakdown cover, etc.

    Did a quick shoparound with a few others anyway, not expecting to do any better. Best I saw was €447 with Axa.
