Do BoI use Allianz to underwrite, or just coincidence?

Could be. Their link led me to rsa link, but maybe they have few more on offer.

AIB had no cost monthly payment plan, if BoI is the same that could be the selling point, especially if the quote is high.

Liberty is offering good quotes this year, too

Finance charge is high, though.

Insurance companies are really really contrary.

My renewal is up at the end of the month.

AXA quoted me €1300 in 2018 on a people carrier used for family purposes, moved to the AA as they came in cheapest for equal cover at €850. Today the AA want €1100, rang around and AXA can do it for €700.

Insurance really is like a game of monopoly, you don't know what you get unless you take part in the game.

Same car the entire time and no changes of anything. Most likely they don't want my custom .

Only one to come close to that was SuperValu (through AXA) at 514euro but they are offering 50euro in SuperValu vouchers with it.
Rang 123.ie to see if they could do anything with the price and told straight up NO!
Ah well, looks like i'm moving so - i guess 123.ie aren't interested in keeping customers!

Have been receiving emails from 123vfor the past3 years re ins for my son. They have NEVER been under €5.5k. I have him insured comp in his own name for less than €800. Only got another mail from them today.

That's pricey enough SH. Just looked up your car it's quick enough. It's as quick as some larger bigger engined cars due to their extra weight.

I see it has 8 injectors also port and direct.

It's not slow car indeed, small size factor with bigger displacement and turbo makes it very happy little car. Can't complain.
My biggest issue is that I am Limerick city. I bet I am paying at least 200eu extra just for that.

What really funny is, that I had Alfa GT 1.9 JTDM 04" and was told my insurance is 1k eu, because it's old, powerful and Alfa...
Got brand new Seat and insurance still same and now qoutes going even up. Last year I spent hours filling in forms and calling for cheaper insurance and it was same or more everywhere else. This year I tried few quick ones and just didn't bother. Will bend over, pay 1k and wait again for a year with lube ready.

While I'm happy it came down a bit, I think it should be cheaper because I have one year more NCB and 3 Penalty Points less than last year.

The way they work it is cheeky. I should have been looking at a €300 reduction, but they increased the base premium from 1600 > 1900. Unfortunately I can't shop around because of the age and type of car.

Anyone got any experience of An Post? Came in with the best quote for me

Female, 60, 10+ no claims, no penalty points, 2010 Ford Fiesta, but have my daughter on the policy as named driver, She's 24, full licence (less than a year). An Post quoted 601 fully comp, breakdown assist, windscreen cover, step back. Currently with AA, quoting 630. They don't include breakdown assist, you have to get separate AA membership for 90. Their argument is that they are the only provider who will send a mechanic to fix your car. All others tow you to the nearest garage and you're liable for all other costs.

TBH, I've only used breakdown assist at any point for a flat battery after hols so wasn't aware of this. I find the whole process so time-consuming and frustrating. the AA have come down more than 200 on the original quote but I think you'd need a degree in insurance to understand the Ts & Cs. You think you're covered until you make a claim, grrrr.

Think I must be doing better than most. Just got my renewal notice from Aviva. €361 - up slightly from €337 last year, but still happy with it.

Male, late 40s, driving a 1.4 litre Kia Ce'ed (131 reg). Not exactly a head-turning car, but it gets me around safely and economically.

No penalty points, umpteen years NCB (never actually had a claim in approx. 25 years driving), with wife as a named driver - she has no penalty points either, and also has a full NCB on her own insurance for her own car. We also have house insurance with Aviva, so qualified for a loyalty discount.

€361 price includes stepback NCB protection, driving other cars, windscreen cover, breakdown cover, etc.

Did a quick shoparound with a few others anyway, not expecting to do any better. Best I saw was €447 with Axa.
