The guy did everything Vince asked, helped him build the company since the 80's, humiliated himself numerous times on tv for him too. Him and Chioda were the two releases that annoyed me the most.

One of Vince's righthand men for the last 40 years they would be fcuking foolish not to hire him and pick his brain.

One of Vince's righthand men for the last 30 years they would be fcuking foolish not to hire him and pick his brain.

But surely he’s past it. If he had any influence in WWE over the past 5 years why wasn’t there any saving grace in their booking/programming.

It's easy just to think of him as a one of the Stooges from TV. He has always been more than that. Was a decent insurance policy for physical back-up back in the day too by all accounts! Basically, people can and do wear many hats in the wrestling business.

He doesn't have to be a booker etc,

The young talent there to soak up his 50/60 years of wrestling knowledge is something that would be worth it to AEW as a wrestling company not a sports entertainment company.

He's not a booker. He's a talent scout. WWE have an amazing array of athletes on their roster, among their best ever. Unfortunately they're calling the talent things like Shorty G and Slapjack and T-Bar and doing stupid crap with them...

He Russo it and swerve everyone and turn up at MLW or NXT the other Wednesday night wrestling shows.

But he's 74 now. Most of his main achievements behind the scenes were 10-15 years ago at this stage. What would he offer AEW now? They already have J.R to have gotten info on Vince's practices and ideas.

What does a washed up 65 year old Jake Roberts have to offer AEW he had his last decent match in 1989.

Maybe he still has a great brain for the business in other ways that we wouldn't be privy to. How would any of us know? This is all just from a tweet Gerry posted by the way. So until then.

Brisco still shows up every year to all the major amateur wrestling events, and by all accounts has one of the greatest eyes for raw talent in the history of wrestling, paying him half of what you pay joey janela to keep an eye out for you instead of the other company could be the bargain of the century.

They need to sign Ben Carter up right now. Unreal performances on both Dark and the Dynamite special.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,289 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Daniels starting to show his age?
Ricky with a Curryman tribute. :)

Some cracking wrestling on last nights AEW shows.

Really loving Taz, Veda, Excalibur & Ricky on commentary.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

That was a rather enjoyable episode of Late Night Dynamite, Spears/Sydal was solid enough and Carter/Sky was a cracker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

Is there a way to watch late night dynamite legally?

It's on Fite as part of the AEW subscription.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

So what is it, like a jazzed up version of Dark, i.e., mostly pretaped matches? Any promos or progression of the Dynamite angles?

(I.e., do you need to watch it)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,211 ✭✭✭LineOfBeauty

Easy, fun show. Flew by. I think without adverts it clocked just over 44 minutes.

Hardly needs saying but Ben Carter looks a gem, sign him up quickly.

I liked Spears/Sydal too. Downside is I'll have that Spears theme song stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,886 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Late Night Dynamite 585k and ranked 9th original show of the night.

Lance Archer out of tonight's show, due to testing for Covid-19 after 2nd hand exposure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,951 ✭✭✭Cherry_Cola

Kingston vs Mox for the title now instead, can't wait!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

Ah that makes sense, since he "didn't lose the Battle Royal"

Also, Eddie on the mic with a specific target to pop off should make for a decent build.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,141 ✭✭✭ConcertKing

Gutted the 6 man tag is off as I was really excited to see how Lance and Jake would co exist with Cage,Starks and Taz!Damn it anyway!

Really hope The Murderhawk wins the AEW World title off Moxley on October 14th!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

Decent show. Main event looked stiff af. Moxley really is putting in that work as the champ.

Loved the heelishness of FTR to tease the match until the last second then bounce. Very well done. (Less said about Chuck T's 'weenie' comments the better - wtf?).

Main negatives continue to be Omega and Brodie. Both different shades of awful on the mic. Omega talks like the kind of guy who gets fooled by a sock puppet on a kids TV show. Brodie just screams incoherently.

Ben Carter too sidelined with Covid-19.

Taz's sloppy shop comment doesn't age well now.

AEW's medical team are now working with the NFL Covid response team for all there testing.

How good is Eddie Kingston on the mic? Loved the promos from him and Mr. Brodie Lee, quality stuff. As the main event was, just a good hard-hitting wrestling match. Great return for Cody too.

Roll on October 7th for the 30th anniversary celebration of the career of the Million viewer man!

He has great delivery but the content was nothing we haven't heard a thousand times from a thousand different wrestlers.

Selling out, sold your soul, I'm an indie guy, you're a sports entertainer, yadda yadda yadda.

I've probably said before, but I do find digs at WWE by former guys or guys who never made it there kind of annoying. How many of the guys who worked there have that place to thank for being able to charge higher rates for appearances. And how many are able to walk into a decent position in another company thanks to their job in WWE? Not saying they don't deserve there position but recognition is something that helps them.
Same for people who never went to WWE. Others have said before that people start out in the business pretty much to get a job in WWE so just because they didn't make it doesn't mean they wouldn't want the job. Now that we have AEW they have an alternative place to go, but if that went under within the next year, I'm sure ones there wouldn't mind WWE looking for them.

The Dark Order is made up some pretty damn good wrestlers I must say.

AEW 835K 9th ranked show of the night,

NXT 696K 38th ranked show of the night.

Just once it'd be refreshing for them to hire a guy like Heath Slater, and his first promo is something like "You all know where I came from... and I had a great time there, working with incredibly talented people, and made friends for life. Especially want to thank the guys at the very top for giving me the opportunity to wrestle for the biggest wrestling company in the world."

Due to the way AEW have positioned themselves, he'd get mega heat.

    Sammy at the NFL game.

    The guy just has it

The ability to run Benny Hill style through water and then continue that exact same running style with hands and legs swinging all over the place when he got back on dry land so he looks like an absolute fool...yep he sure does have it.

Not sure why, but everytime I see Eddie Kingston speak in AEW it reminds me of Sinbad (and Rob Thomas) in Always Sunny.

I think Brandi needs to start watching Dark and get new sources. Not long after Anna Jay appears as part of the Dark Order, Brandi cuts a promo saying she hears Anna's not there. Then very next match there's Anna as one of the fans, not exactly hiding.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

    Great opening match.

Ricky Starks is cash bloody money.

    Giving shoutouts to Meltzer.

    Grim.

Am I the only one that just does NOT like QT Marshall?

I don't even know why, it's just an irrational dislike, and even when he does something impressive I don't care. I dunno if it is his look, or how his movement looks clunky at times - or his butchering of the Diamond Cutter......it's verging on change the channel heat for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,289 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

What was the idea behind that brawl? Seemed pointless. I know both Cody and Brandi are in feuds with Dark Order but that was like before last PPV to lead into the battle royal

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,013 ✭✭✭Officer999

Love Jericho on the mic, but thought that match against Kassidy was a very poor performance by him. He was so slow and sluggish. Really sad to see I thought. Loved his backstage interaction with MJF tho. He needs to stick to manager and commentary roles from here on end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

Ricky Starks just has it, his selling and facial expressions are top class. Very good opening match against Darby.

FTR/SCU was quality stuff too, and Baker looked great in her return squash. Thought Cody's promo was good too, another enjoyable episode of Dynamite!

The one constant weak point to the show now that it is a year old is JR on commentary.

Keep him off weekly TV and if you must use him use him on PPV's.
