Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

tbh i'd suggest that they aren't stupid at all. they know israel doesn't need any excuse to go on a rampage. they likely know that the world, slowly but surely, is waking up to israel's behaviour, so they help israel dig a bigger hole for itself.

I'd like to confidently state that this may well be the most ill thought out and ridiculous post ever to appear on Boards.

So, the Palestinians KNOW that at some point "the world will wake up" and somehow punish Israel ? (Like those poor sods haven't suffered enough).

And instead of sitting back safely and going "our day will come lads" - they attack heavily armed IDF commandos ?

    :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

yes, i think they may believe that. and they aren't wrong, the world is slowly waking up to israel's behaviour.

And instead of sitting back safely and going "our day will come lads" - they attack heavily armed IDF commandos ?

they simply protest, or throw a few rocks yes . because they know the IDF don't need any excuse to mow them down. ultimately, israel digs it's own hole and is quick to respond to anything a palestinian does with high force. either way, the palestinians have nothing to lose but long term, possibly something to gain.

Do be people not understand the difference between Hamas and the Palestinian population. Do people not understand the difference between Netanhyu and the IDF to the general Israeli population.

It doesn't matter what the rest of the world thinks about Israel.
They have been doing the same thing since they existed and nothing happened.
The US will continue to use its veto and nothing will change.

Kind of hard for them to wake up when they own the US politicians ( Rothschilds etc).

things will change. the boycott movement is growing. israel will be put back in it's box, it's a case of when and not if, and the US veto, which only effects the UN, won't help them. the game is up. the UN most certainly needs some sort of re-structuring and the US veto should be removed. nobody should be able to single handidly veto UN action. if that means the US leaves, as unfortunate as that may be, it's a case of so be it.

the US can only do so much. they can "own" the US politicians all they like but the US isn't the rest of the world. they can try smear campaigns and the usual hasbara nonsense but that is no longer working.

    I hope you're right.
However, they are getting billions of free dollars from the US government and rich Jewish donors.
They are also in an unholy alliance with the Saudis (the Saudis don't like to talk about that for obvious reasons) against the Iranians.

agreed, and those issues are problematic. however, people power is a good thing, and it can and does work. eventually the calls to do something will be such that even the US government won't have a choice but to actually put pressure on israel to stop it's unacceptible behaviour and go back within it's actual borders. i think i will see it in my lifetime, but it will take time.

Propped up by the highly influential political Jewish lobby in the US. Look at all the differences between Democrats and Republicans and even during this time of all times the one thing which unites them more than any other issue is Israel. That tells you all you need to know. Mainstream US politicians are in the back pocket of this lobby.

    You're confusing Hamas with Palestinian.
They were right to protest the Israeli regime.
Imagine Irish protesters being killed and a Canadian doctor helping the injured being shot by the British and some bright spark saying 'Sure they're all IRA anyway'?

I'd be very surprised is Mosad had operatives infiltrating organisations around the world, using fake passports and the like, everywhere but their own doorstep.

Protecting the oil in the Golan heights for Jewish freedom is it?

Some more big news on the BDS front, Airbnb says it will stop listing places in West Bank settlements. The practical effect is of course minimal, but it's another important blow against the normalisation of the West Bank settlements

To be fair, it didn't exactly work out on those parts of the island where the nationalists weren't in a majority, which is now the issue with various parts of Palestine.

Yep. It's why they're terrified of BDS - apart from any financial penalty, it begs the question "why?". It took 30-40 years to get the anti-apartheid movement going but hopefully with the internet etc things will be quicker this time round.

BDS has been around over 13 years now and has had a negligible impact, especially when you have people like this as one of its leaders, it does not look like its going to make much of a difference.

movements like this generally take time to build and grow and become effective. 13 years is quite a short time frame to expect huge results. the movement does seem to be having an effect though, which is all that ultimately matters.

As already stated, it takes time, and is actually on a faster track than the anti-apartheid campaign.

And a movement is rarely defined by one of its members.

Why are you hostile to a non-violent form of dissent and protest?

I'll quote this back to you in time when it does not suit your argument.

Hostile? I am merely ambivalent about it. Does one have a right to be ambivalent about a movement?

BDS has a number of loons in their ranks. Seeing as you did not run to Simone O'Broin's defense, I presume you concede that point.

Congressman Peter King (R-NY) pressuring FF to withdraw its support for the bill banning Irish trade with the Israeli settlements. King spoke to Niall Collins TD about it but so far failed to change his mind.

There are also reports that the notorious Israel Anti Boycott Act, which would impose fines and up to 20 years (!) in prison for supporting a boycott of Israel, may pass Congress during the lameduck session (between the just finished midterms and the new Congress meeting in January).
