Focus is all washed and hoovered out, ready to get back into another year. T'will be it's last I think, I'll move it on next Summer.

I could probably say the same well hoping to hold out till December 2016 before changing.

So, engine internally steam cleaned from that flood a few weeks back (drove through a puddle that was too deep), 2 bottles of Lucas put through the tank, all lights fixed, ABS fault fixed, pedal rubber replaced, car hoovered, brakes, suspension still OK from last time (fingers crossed), have my driving license and car registration document, so here's hoping everything will be OK for it's last 2 year NCT.
    I'll let ye know tomorrow.

Best of luck a well maintained car like your own should fly through it.

    Back to a golf again?

I'm starting to eye up nice gt spec ones, mk6 era. Probably a 2009/10. Would like to get a spin in a 2.0 140 brake and see what it's like. The alloys on the gt 2.0 suit it so well, compared to the 16's as standard. Give it to me in black or red and I'm sold! That'll probably change again though.

Here's hoping. The last time I did NCT replaced all shocks and front springs, top mounts (twice, first ones were garbage), some bushings, rear wheel bearings and front discs as well as all pads all round. Needless to say all that transformed the car completely, it drives better than the day I bought it.
If I keep going I will have replaced the entire car, it would be like buying a new car on instalments!:D

Saw a Focus ST at Kilcock Car Dismantlers today. Front end was burned out, back looked fine. Same colour as yours Supergurrier but it's a five door.

Actually, there was loads of burned out Mk2 Focii, all around the dashboard area.

I see that car few days ago. very sad

Yep well most likely of some description. Although I really like the new shape Jetta so would be between either that or a golf. If I got golf not sure what model I still like the mk5 but wouldn't buy another bxe 1.9tdi and 2.0tdi are near impossible to get clean. I'm still not sure about the mk7 I think I prefer the mk6 in highline spec. I'd like a 140 but again very difficult to get and insurance may be an issue although shouldn't be by then.

I made a huge mistake not buying another golf but sure what's done is done and it's not even that the Megane is a bad car just not a golf is its biggest issue. Only thing is I'm going to take some hit on my own selling it then but I suppose I'll have it 1.5 years it's not too bad. I'm not too bother anyway under no allusions it won't be a cheap trade up with a few k euro. I'd buy new only for I don't think I'd be able to sleep at night wondering will someone damage it so I'll go 2 years old obviously if mk6 it will be older than that.

Would ya not look at something a bit more interesting? Especially as you'd be finished College then.

Yeah, don't go by what I'm at CIP4, I'm boring Joe for the next while, until I can afford nice, higher powered cars, that I'll own from day one.

I literally have zero interest in anything else which may sound sad but just the phase I'm going through. Not that I'm some kind of vw snob as I was never one but just want another. Just something about them you don't get in other cars and you'll never really understand it until you own one. Infairness the Megane is a great seriously mechanically straight car very under rated but I just can't warm to it but I'd be the exact same I recon if I had bought an Astra, i30, 5 series or whatever else I was looking at. I think I won't get over them until I buy another and then move on after it.

Ah the Megane might grow on me overtime I kind of hope it does as I'd be up a fortune keeping it for 3 years but probably won't happen. Suits all my needs down to the ground for the next year anyway which is grand.

    What about the Clio RS?

Well that's the thing I don't owe a penny on the Megane and it needs nothing major done which is a grand feeling too. Probably will end up borrowing for the next car unless I keep the Megane for an extra while. I don't think a loan would be the end of the world as if only take one over 2 years and chances are I'll be living at home for the first few years after starting work and I don't drink or smoke so I'll have a relatively decent wage coming in and fcuk all else to spend it on.

Car recovered earlier today and left at mine. Got home, moved the cars out and pushed it in. Started on it at half 7.

Engines out :) I don't do these things for fun, unlike some ;)

Suspected dropped valve but for now I'm focused on prepping the new engine

    What about the Clio RS?

I'd still like and will buy one of them but as a weekend car which will be another few years away. I don't think I could cope with something that uncomfortable as a daily driver. I suppose a mk6 gti golf would be a good inbetween to still get something interesting but chances are anywhere I'll get a job I'll have to do a bit of travelling between a few plants for the first 2 years so 25mpg wouldn't be ideal I'm not buying something that would cost me 150-200 quid a week to keep petrol in as that would knock the good out of it for me.

Is there much of a gap between the top of the tyre and the arch now ?

Its basically in line, I will go further but I'm waiting on 16's.
I need to get the car that half inch higher because the skirt is basically part of the earth at this point.

Tried one in the village, not to sharp but quite high, no touch at all...
I had cars in the past that touched down long and hard on them so it wouldn't bother me in the slightest :D

Very dark but it gives an idea...

Just brimmed the focus there. It's rarely been above a quarter of a tank all summer. Had no real long journeys that I needed to fill it. The minute I drove off the forecourt, I could feel the car being substantially heavier and more grounded.

Just throwing this out here, I'm looking for a Renault from the late 80s to 2000. Car or van, but must be running and driveable. In case anyone has something PM me.

I always brim mine because I can't be arsed going back to the petrol station in a few days time :pac:

That's full tank feeling. Driving around with 1/4 all the time wouldn't work great in the Megan's. As with the digital gauge 2 bars is 1/4 of a tank when it drops to one bar 1/8 of a tank the low fuel light comes on range goes to --- which is stupid as its the one time you want to know your range. Book says it has 50km on the light which is sh!t considering most have 130km plus on the light. Granted all this makes little difference to me as I fill it when or before it hits 1/4 of a tank. But you could get caught out handy enough. In some ways you can't beat an old fashioned gauge even if there not the most accurate there not normally that far out.

Ya, when I'm working I don't have time to be in and out to the pumps, I fill it and it does the week. During the summer, any excuse to go into a shop and buy munchies :pac:
