It was spinning over then THUMP. Id say theres a mashed piston and broken stem, let alone a 2 piece valve or more. Thats not accounting for the knock at the bottom....

The head may aswell be scrap. The bottom end I'll rebuild over time. For now I just want my car home, to start on it. I want to have this sorted fast, I need my car for my job.

I already miss it, despite what's happened to it :( I've sent cars to the scrapyard for less :(:(:(

Doesn't sound good for it. It's not a nice feeling looking out the window at an empty space. Hopefully the new engine goes well in it.

I'll pull off the head anyway. Was losing compression on starting now and again, shunned that thought. Really need to get off that habit :(

Not a hope I'll put this in without starting it in the ground. Don't want to be putting in another mule....

Aim to have it up and running this week :)

Pulled the cover off, not broke. Possibly has dropped a valve, it's seized solid.

Getting it recovered tomorrow. Currently locked up in the workplace for the night. For now theres an empty spot at the front of my house :(

    Marvellous!!!

What car do you actually have fancy pigeon for some reason I never seen you name it. Hopefully you get it all sorted out. I found myself that only when your car breaks down do you realise how important it is on a day to day basis and how we often take that for granted the freedom they give is unreal.

That's crap about Pov always enjoyed his posts and would have liked to see how the focus turned out seemed like a nice clean car.

Not going to say exactly what I have buuut it has an indirect lump under the bonnet and a hybrid turbo.... I have a genuine reason for not stating exactly what I drive, I'm not being stuck up or a condescending know it all like some others on here (not directed at yourself!)... I just need time ;)

I do drive a humpy Corolla now and again :) quelle surprise engine went on it too!

I'll get it sorted, by hook or by crook the minute the car is in the yard I'll rip that engine out, have another one at the ready to lob in. Just have my turbo and pump and swap over

Sad about pov. I can't see the reason but I'm sure like the others, there were reasons in the background

Ah fair enough sounds like an interesting car your not too bad having a replacement engine will make for an interesting few days :)

On the posters leaving I know from my own experience sonetimes you just need time out. Before I had left I was thinking about it for 6 months before. I Had become too caught up in the place and I know people say why not just stop posting and don't close your account and you can come back to it. But I find it's hard to stay away with an open account.

I really enjoyed my time away for the few months it wasn't even about being away as such but just not talking about cars in general. I could focus on other things over the summer went on a rake of road trips with friends and was in cork a few times visiting my class mates as well as having a big last minute planned 21st birthday party in langtons (only mention the name as I know a few know it). I had been adamant I wasn't having a party but it turned into some night that I wouldn't trade for anything.

Complete and utterly rambling now but after the time off I came back refreshed and here to concentrate on cars more and to continue to learn as much as I can and ask questions and hopefully help the odd person along the way.

Its not flashy, new or special but its my daily workhorse. I was getting it the way I liked it! I really like my car :) Then this happens :(

I've swapped these out many times, aiming to have it running this week! Can't be using the Merc for too long again... ;)

There are many reasons why some would close. What goes on in the background can be whats worse for all to see in some cases. Maybe like yourself time out was needed. Who knows unless you ask them directly in person... Not for me to speak for all but only for some. I'd say those that have left recently will be back, if not back already amongst the regulars....

Don't let me ramble on :D

What's the story with everyone closing their accounts?

    Has someone else closed theirs?

Yeah, I encountered that big full-back for Ahane before - he isn't human, he's some class of a bullock. Fcukan livestock, bah.

At least we get long days though. Jaypers I get fair depressed with the long nights, going and coming home in the dark, can't get anything done at all. Once April comes, it's great again!

A few years back I was working in this horrible, dark, sh*tty, dirty kip of a factory in Limerick with barely a window in it and the German arseholes running the place told me that I don't work 8 to 4:30, but 8 to 5 because my breaks don't count but I was forced to take them anyway. Was not a good time of my life.
It certainly wasn't helped in the winter, when I arrived it was pitch black night and when I came back out in the evening it was pitch black night. I didn't see daylight for fcuking months.

Working 12hr shifts. You don't see daylight either but are so bloody tired when you get home that you fall asleep on the couch. You then to go to bed to get up at the crack of dawn to do it again.

    Nights are worse again.

    It's depressing.
