Jesus man you are really hating the megane these days!

Ah no that's a fairly commonly complained about flaw among owners. No it suits me grand I won't be getting rid of it this year anyway. It's running perfect done 500km in it at the weekend doesn't need anything until a service at Christmas so I have nothing to complain about they are actually a good car.

You don't post about it the way you used to about the Golf

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,657 ✭✭✭CIP4

Buy the car you want not the reg you want

Ah reg never really comes into it with me its 4 years old now so along way of a new car at the time of purchase I figured it suits my needs the best and it probably still does.

You are right I suppose. I spent alot more time cleaning the golf and minding it not that I abuse the Megane or anything but just don't really have the interest to post much about it. It's kind of just turned into a tool to get me from A-B. I mean on paper I should like it as it has everything I want and actually has a great radio set up far superior to anything else in the class but the gadgets are only so much of it I suppose you have to like the basic car.

If you don't like the basic car in my experience there's no point. I reckon I could forgive my 159 an awful lot if I had to simply as I love to look back at it as I walk away.

Ya, even though none of mine are anything special, I always give a look back at them. Especially after I clean them to see if they stand out over other cars :o

Mines filthy at the minute. I've hidden it behind a bush so I don't have to see

That's definitely true. Or looking forward to driving it and being excited about going on long trips I could have driven my golf all day and never got sick of it. I still like going for drives in the Megane just not as much. Although the one thing I don't miss is back at the very back of my mind I always wondered if it would end up busting a Conrod ruining the engine it's seems to only be getting more common on the bxe engine. I kind of have nothing like that to worry about with the Megane.

While reliability is an important factor cip it shouldn't, to me anyway, dictate your car choice.

To me it sounds as if you are finding reasons to prove you made the right choice.

And they seem thin on the ground.

Nothing bad in what I'm saying its just how the last few posts look.

We'll definitely but then what's a golf worth with an engine gone that can't be rebuilt and next to impossible to get a secondhand replacement. You would effectively then have something that's worth 10% of what you paid for it it. The fundamental reason for changing was to get a car and I have no regrets there I get great use out of the back seats. I probably chose the wrong car alright but it's not the end of the world to drive it on for a while and change it then I think I'll spend alot more time looking for the right one next time. I'm always too quick to try and get a replacement as soon as possible as I don't actually like searching for and buying the car just like owning it as such.

I get ya man, I still think the Clio would be an awesome daily!
Once you are out in work you'd have no problem running one of those, I am running my car very comfortably and throwing parts at it these days too!

Fair play on the bold part above ;)

    Stay classy yb, stay classy.

Looking back there, I started saving pics of mondeo's that I liked, started trying to grasp the specs etc in August 2010.... I didn't buy until July 2012. As you can see, I was certain that I wanted it before I got it! And I still love it.

Hyundai is really starting to re establish itself in Ireland!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,243 ✭✭✭Brian Scan

Here's hoping. The last time I did NCT replaced all shocks and front springs, top mounts (twice, first ones were garbage), some bushings, rear wheel bearings and front discs as well as all pads all round. Needless to say all that transformed the car completely, it drives better than the day I bought it.
If I keep going I will have replaced the entire car, it would be like buying a new car on instalments!:D

Hope it looks better than this one!

Its like a cult, you are inducted (process unknown, but it is said they favour obnoxious, look down their nose types).

Once you are in you start on a base spec car, they may give you the harmon kardon upgrade along with lots of celica off cuts.

Then you keep moving up the echelons until the lot of them are driving LFA's and try to take over the motoring world one forum at a time.

Jesus I'd pay to see that film :)

Careful now, He who must not be named might pop in and cast some sort of voodoo witchcraft of us for slating the worlds most superior car brand which infact is nothing like a celica......

Got a four wheel alignment done today in Red Cow Tyres. Nice 3d set up they have there. The car never pulled to one side for me but I had to hold the steering wheel slightly turned to go straight. They told me someone must have only done front wheel alignment on it because the back was so out.

Car drives like a dream now, 50 quid well spent :D

Happened to me once, had a MKI Focus estate at the time and asked a guy to do the alignment. He only told me later (after I paid) they only do the front.
Cowboys like that should be shut down. If someone does that, he will probably focus the lights using a wall and crayon, or tell you the rear wheels don't need to be balanced.
That kind of Mickey Mouse sh*t absolutely infuriates me.
