I have sent my application on Tuesday 19th, letter arrived today informing me that my application has been registered in FIS section, "due to recent increase in the volume of applications for FIS, it is likely that there will be some delay in processing your claim"[/I],

    good morning everyone,

I have received a letter from FIS and it said: "your spouse Job-seekers claim is suspended, please inform us when it is awarded or stopped".

I have tried to contact them by phone but to no avail, they do not answer the phone, to say that his JSA still suspended, and he has not received any payments since.

could anyone advice, or maybe know how to contact them by email.

    thank you.

You need to send them a letter when your spouse is sorted ie signed off or payment reinstated.Keep copies of all correspondence and get proof of postage(free in the post office).

    hi all,
my employer had an inspection from employment rights agency today regarding my FIS claim. I have already been awarded FIS and recieved my back dated money and am currently receiving a weekly payment from them. I work two and a half days, amounting to 20 hrs, or so we thought! apparently you cannot include your lunch hours :( this brings me down to 17 and a half hours. has this happened anyone else? my employer has said she would be happy to give me the extra hours so that I am eligible but what about all the money I have already recieved?! I'm having a mild stroke over this!!
has anyone else been in this situation? if so what was the outcome? thanks in advance

your spouse needs to sort out his jobseekers payment, tell him to get it sorted with the local social welfare office,FIS cant do anything for you until they know what is going to happen with your spouses claim(will he get a weekly payment or not). They need to know if he will receive a jobseekers payment and that's the reason there is a hold up,no real point contacting FIS until you know what's happening with the jobseekers.

You weren't doing the hours to get FIS so you will be assessed with an overpayment and will have to repay all the money you have received while you were ineligible. You would only be entitled to claim FIS from the date your hours increase.

    thanks for replying :)

how do you think i will have to pay the money back? will it be a certain amount a week or will it be a case of being rewarded fis again but not actually receiving payment from them until the debt is cleared? if ya get me?

    Thank you Francescoli,

it is over a month now since we first went to local SW, he is asking to comeback to him every tuesday to show that my husband is looking for job, and every time he is told that a decision will be made on friday, and then om friday he is asking to come on tuesday and so on.
I don't know how long it will take, but we are struggling on 260week , with three kids, including a baby.

tell the cwo you need a letter for fis detailing the status of his open claim. If he wont suppy this say you will pass his details on to fis so they can contact him.

Their not dealing with the cwo its their local social welfare office. FIS would have assess to all her spouses details and nothing can be done with the FIS claim until the job seekers claim is sorted because job seekers is assessable income for FIS.

The person deal with my FIS claim called the local Social Welfare office to find out what my partners JSA claim would amount to during the Summer when BTEA didnt apply.

But thats not what is happening here. The OP's spouse has a jobseekers claim that is suspended and FIS have wrote to her to say they need to know what is happening with the jobseekers claim before they can process FIS.Rigu's spouse has to either get the jobseekers claim awarded or stopped before FIS will proceed and its up to the FIS applicant to get this sortrd.

usually repay it by holding back money(if any) and setting up weekly deductions. There isn't really any waiting time with FIS anymore so most likely it would be just weekly deductions.

Applied for FIS 4th December 2012.
My partner is employed with his father for 20 years. As he worked for a relative it was sent to the social welfare inspector. He had a meeting with him about 5 weeks ago. Two weeks later another person then called to his father for documents.
Awarded FIS today only three euro less than we had calculated ourselves. So 21 weeks waiting.

How long does it usually take for back money.

I have a claim in and got a call today saying because I have a Disablement Benefit claim in from work they cannot process my FIS.I was in a work accident late last year and submitted the OB21 forum.I was told by FIS dept to phone up the Disablement Benefit section as FIS cant move while this is pending.

Anybody ever experience this..?I hear the wait for the OB21 can be a long time.

Yeah they will need to know are you going to receive a payment from Disablement Benefit because it can be accessible for FIS.If you get a once off payment its not assessed but if you are awarded a monthly amount they will have to assess it for FIS.
Only thing you can do is contact disablement section and hope they can push it through for you.

It seems to be a mixed bag at the moment, some people say they get approved within 7 days, others 7 weeks.

Hi we sent our renewal in om the 20th of August, just wondering how long you have all been waiting?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,824 ✭✭✭vitani

My first payment went into my account today - there's 3 weeks worth there. I applied near the end of August.

Massive relief to have that little bit extra coming in, and glad they seem to have sorted out the problems with delays.

I'm still waiting for the letter to confirm, but I presume I'll get this week's on Thursday and the rest was for the first two weeks in September and last week of August.

It was never that long of a wait but there was around 20 week backlog at one stage. Some people might be waiting longer if a claim goes to inspectors.

  • Registered Users Posts: 22 Hello84

Yeah i heard about that, that was a very long time to wait. Thanks for that hopefully not waiting too long, only sent the form off early in the week. I think the inspectors call if self employed

I'm now onto week 4 waiting for a FIS payment and have just been told it may take another 3 weeks

  • Registered Users Posts: 22 Hello84

That's a long time, it only took about 5 weeks and that was only because they needed some paperwork. You should of received a letter to say your application was received. Definitely ring them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 134 ✭✭Hennesm

I applied at the end of March. They sent me a letter on the 4 April. I called them today to see how long it would take and I was told that my claim had been decided today! Am delighted . They said I would get a letter confirming it . Does anyone have a rough idea as to when I might get my first payment and/ or is the payment back dated. Thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 363 ✭✭ameee

You will probably get it tomorrow as fis is paid on thursday. I got my arrears with the first payment.

  • Registered Users Posts: 134 ✭✭Hennesm

Thanks ammeee. I got a letter today saying the first payment is tomorrow and the arrears will follow. Would be great if it all came tomorrow as the car has just decided to give up!
