The option is fry or beige paint?

There is no in between. They're either one of the greatest minds in modern media history, or they are big Jim from out the backroads.

Prob harsh on an All Ireland winning Manager but Counihan had his head in clouds that he didn't take off Canty and O' Connor after 20 mins.

    Counihan gone

    McGeeney for Cork?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,025 ✭✭✭vetinari

Yeah, right decision to go. Today had the feel of a tired team on the decline.

Good news, makes the defeat much easier to accept.

I hope all selectors go too and get new management team in outside of county. It would never happen though.

The best Dublin team I've seen in my lifetime. Counihan might go after this.

They were playing better earlier on in the year and last year. Certainly beatable and the backline isn't great. Kerry will give them a big challenge and I can't see Gooch, O'Sullivan or Star missing as many goal chances.

Cavan will rattle Kerry in the first half, but as time goes by Kerry will pull away to win easily enough.

Don't know where the post I quoted went to but Jack is Dr Noel McCaffrey's (not Niall McCaffrey) son. Played schools cup rugby for Belvo too..

Thanks Conor for your years of service as player, selector and manager. Involved in 3 of our 7 AI wins.

I disagree....both saw a near certain goal on the cards for their opponents and broke the rules to prevent it.
I don't understand the rage against cavanagh and not against shields tbh

    technical foul v personal foul

even thou im shouting for the dubs in this match, I dont like the time cluxton wastes when talking frees, i hope time gets added on the end for it

Are you for real? At least twice, the Cork players (as did the Meath players in the previous game) were interfering with him when he was coming up to take the frees. He was a lot quicker up today as Maloney kept alluding to in the commentary...

How much time did Cork waste when they were going to take off Canty then they realised one of the other lads (who's name escapes me) had cramp they changed the substitution. Was time added on for that?

Very frustrating from a dub perspective, 4 points up with 15 to go had me getting flashbacks of the league final 2 or 3 years ago. They played very well, all I'd say is take the points when your ahead, and slow it down with 5 to go when your ahead.
Delighted with the win but it takes more to win all Ireland's, they are capable but I don't think they are smart enough . I'm a dub btw.

They are capable as are the other teams left in it (other than, no disrespect, Cavan) I don't think it will take a "great" team to win the All Ireland this year. I think it will be the team that exploits their opponents weaknesses best that will win it. Instead of teams going out to win games they will be going out to stop their opponents win and do enough on the break to get the win themselves. I know that sounds basic enough but it any of Dublin, Tyrone, Donegal, Mayo or Kerry can beat each other on their day. Before a ball was kicked today, I predicted that the winner of the All Ireland was going to come from one of today's games and even before tomorrows game I'm going to stick with that prediction

Gaa added time Is a joke anyways it's forever set at 2 minutes. Never seen 3-4 mins added time in a GAA game

As has been said before, they should use the hooter system like in ladies football/rugby.
There is never any disputes over timekeeping in either of those codes..

Agree with you but Tyrone won't worry Dublin. It will take a great team, I hope the dubs do it, I want them to do it, I just think the midfield isn't good enough

They worry me. They gave us awful trouble in the league.

Tyrone could be the dark horses this year.

One thing I noticed about Dublin today is that for the kick out the midfielders and half backs dropped a bit closer to Cluxton, leaving lots of space in the middle for the half forwards to make runs from deep to easily get primary possession. Baffling that Counihan didn't do anything about it, must've happened about 10 times, was blindingly obvious and very easy to counteract. Can't imagine them getting as easy possession as they got today in the SF. If/When it is counteracted, Dub could find it hard to win primary possession, as good as MDMA and COS are, I can't recall either of them catching a ball clean from a kick-out today.

I notice a lot of people are talking about Dubs missed goal opportunities, but everyone of them were quite close, and they would've had another goal had Shields not blatantly picked the ball off the ground. I think it's much more beneficial that they're creating the chances and not scoring, rather than not creating the chances. Finishing can be worked on, but creating chances is not as easily worked on. They just need to take their points, had they done that they would've run out convincing winners.

Also, Sheehan - best fielder of the ball these days. A huge weapon for any decent manager to exploit, made bits of the Dub FB line yet was criminally under-supported. Cork, under a decent manager, would really be a team to be feared, the team that lined out today were not, the scoreline flattered them. Never really got the impression they were capable of winning the game despite being ahead once or twice. Sheehan alone could win them an AI, his leap is .

Counihan is unfortunately so slow to make obvious changes. His lack of ability to spot the obvious and make the necessary changes are well known.

I don't think Dublin will get as much ball against Kerry, they never do. I also cannot see as many goal chances being created. Brogan is a shadow of the player he once was and Cluxton looks like being the Dubs top scorer. Cluxton misfires/gets an injury or even Kerry don't foul as much and I begin to wonder where the scores will come from. No such thoughts on Kerry though. They have a habit of performing in Croker and of making the right changes during a game.
If they get over Cavan today, which they surely will.

Every time Dublin win a match you have posters coming on and saying ,ah sure they won't do that against insert the upcoming game, Dublin have been the most constant winning team so far this year and they have beaten everyone of the Top teams, albeit some of the games were in the league.

They got rid of more shackles yesterday by beating cork yesterday in the championship after not doing so since 2005, Cant see any of the other teams left stopping Dublin this year, imo.

Prior to yesterday Dublin hadn't beaten cork since 1995.
