Seriously, fair fcuks to Boston's response unit. They're doing great work down there. And if there's one thing that actually restores faith in humanity is seeing the footage of people on the news who, straight after the bomb went off, instead of running away, ran towards the people who needed help.

    +10 on this

Diving in through the smoke seconds after the bombs going off to protect this runner with no clue if the bombs are over or are they next to be blown up.

I'd imagine this is a case of chinese whispers after the New York Post report.

Sky were stressing that he's not in custody, he's not a suspect he's just a person of interest and they reported Boston PD confirmed it.

"Another point to try to clarify is information that was coming to us about an arrest. Now there is some indication, with Boston Police Department officials confirming, there is a man in his twenties who is being placed under police guard at a local hospital. He's being treated as a potential suspect, again though we caution not reading too much into that because often, as I say, after an incident like this people maybe put under police guard, maybe arrested, taken into police custody, questioned, their stories verified and they're completely cleared and exonerated."

    Also,
Obama to address the U.S. in the next few minutes.

The JFK incident is described as being a fire, so may not be related at all.

Update JFK incident appears to be fire related #tweetfromthebeat via @CherylFiandaca

Forgive the speculation but I'm going to suggest the bomber/s have absolutely nothing to do with foreign affairs and almost certainly something to do with anti-gun legislation and related "anti-Washington" types.

How progressive is Massachusetts on guns?

Definitely a terrorist attack. Their color/race/religion is irrelevant

I was surprised how careful they were at the start not to use the t word. It has a very broad definition, could be attributed to anything that creates fear I suppose.

Only two devices exploded, weren't one or two others made safe, I thought? Seems like a coordinated attack, akin to the London attacks.

During that press conference, the word bomb wasn't used as far as I could hear - kept saying explosion

2 bombs going off in a public place is always terrorism, the strange thing is how the word has changed now to mean something bad the muslims have done

Doesn't matter if they were "minor explosions" (how you can call any explosion in a street minor is beyond me) its how much damage they caused and when it happened. If they planned it for the 4hr 10 min mark, it's far from minor.
