Tell me I'm not the only one who had the hots for the moon girls back when I was a child.

Also, since this is a retro gaming thread, this is relevant.

Theyre pretty rare to come up, but its worth emailing him and asking. The last one was lovely, just the front was yellowed and needed to be sprayed.

I've nothing as modern as a NNC. I prefer older, boxier, full metal candies at the mo. Have a Snk candy 25 and she's beautiful :D

"mein eyes! duh goh-guls dey do nuthing!!"

Its probably my age but I've never been too bothered by candy cabs anyway ,(even the properly coloured ones)
that B.A.S. cab Kerbdog has is probably the only type I'd really want ..

I have to admit the same, I grew up playing traditional type Woody cabs & they're the ones that appeal to me the most.

    I love the woodies too,
I want to have 3 cabs in the collection.
    Mame cab
a dedicated cab of some sorts (SF2 possibly if some one here ever wants to sell theres ;) )
    And a Candy.Hopefully a super 29 with a 4 slot mvs

What games in the 4 slot tho?
    thats a toughie

By the way,got the mame cab finished 100%
Took about 2 hours to get the tint and the glue off the glass but it was well worth it.98% of the scratches were in the tint film.
And I got the bezel 100%!Heres a pic but It doesn't do it justice.

Candy cab fan here. I also grew up playing woodies, was more attached to the games than the cabinets tbh. If it was a choice between a woodie or a candy then it's candy all the way.
It's not like owning a woodie can re-create the childhood memories - unless it's in a dark, dingy, smoke filled room with 50 other cabs too. Oh and some weird looking soul sitting in a glass booth you have to get change from. :pac:

Hmm, I'd have to disagree somewhat there. I find using a real cab like a dedicated SF2 is a pure nostalgia buzz. Playing a Candy is damn cool too, but all the nostalgia is missing for me as I never used one until later years.

I love woodies! :pac: haha, I wouldnt be bothered with the Candys to be honest, I dont even like the look of them. For me you cant beat a dedicated SF2, Mortal Kombat, Space Invaders Pacman etc cab, they are classics. To be honest i never even seen a candy cab before until you guys on here posted up yours. Not knocking what anyone is in to, they are just not for me.

Me too. Wierdly, i think the thing i like the best about them is the fact that they have a limited shelf life. They die, and rot, take less damage, and generally don't last as long as candies unless they get plenty of love, so they're a little piece of history and when you've got one you treasure it all the more.

I've only got room for one small cab at the moment, so I've a bartop with everything i love on it, but my ideal setup would be a full woody to use for mame, an old cocktail space invaders table just cos i think they're cool, a real pinball machine as well as a digital table, and a couple of dedicated jamma cabs, a Neo Geo Lordsvale for Puzzle Bobble, and a Street fighter 2 cab, probably hyper fighting, or maybe Super Turbo.

Horses for courses I guess. I can definitely see the attraction in an original woodie (an original Konami Aliens or Seibu Raiden cab would be sweet as feck) but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy or collect them. I prefer the look of candies (not all tho) and infinitely prefer Seimitsu and Sanwa controls to Happ. Also, sitdown cab > upgright > tabletop when comfort is a factor.

Is that a 3-in-1 button from gremlin solutions on your front panel by any chance? They're very handy for mame cabs, for the handful of extra admin options you need. You can use them to get five or six extra functions if your encoder's got a shifted keys feature, and there's only one standard sized extra hole to drill.

Most mame cabs would use would of the *pac solutions though, & with those once you press & hold start - every button has a shifted function. I don't really see the need for any additional buttons, except if your not using a PAC product I suppose
