    MOD WARNING HERE:
    Mod

We are getting tired of the snide/bitchy remarks. They stop now.

If you have issues with a poster, put them on ignore, do not respond to their posts. Lashing out at others makes the thread uncomfortable for everyone.

If it continues, we will be forced to close the chat thread. Don't be the one who ruins it for everyone else.

This is the FINAL warning. From here on in, posters will be infracted and/or taking breaks from the Ladies Lounge if they decide they don't want to play nice.

Ignorance of this warning will not be accepted as an excuse.

    Yesssss....

    <_<

    >_>

Actually a friend of ours, his parents converted a big old farmhouse and other buildings in the middle of nowhere into gites. The parents are away for New Years, so all the friends have been invited there. It's great because it's so far from anywhere, you can make as much noise as you like (when there are no paying guests of course! :) ). Really looking forward to it. Haven't seen some of the people in over a year.

Ah that sounds awesome! Think we're all heading to a Greek restaurant for NY. They move all the tables after dinner and turn it into a little disco :)

    Why is everybody sick?

What sort of plague monkeys are we?

@bluey -- we have baileys sponge cake at home. I don't like it. It's my mate's wedding cake so I feel bad throwing it in the bin.

Finished off the last of the sherbet UFO's last night. Still got lots of refreshers and sherbet lemons left. om nom

@Stenchy -- the November dog in my calendar is a gorgeous leggy blonde one and it has the same name as you. Now I'm not saying she reminds me of you... but every time I look at my calendar I think of you.

    Cool, new thread. :)

Having a bit of a fight with my bf. Won't go into the details because it's too complicated. Suffice to say I'm mad at him and he's mad at me. Lovely.

Cinema later though, looking forward to it but not as much as I was because of this fight but I'll go an enjoy it anyway.

Not sure if I should ring bf..

Ring him if you think it will make you feel better.

I need NYE plans. I don't want to stay in this year and NYE is usually a dud. My Bestie is going to be home but I will prob be working on NYE so that means travelling to Mayo after and getting there just in time for midnight :(

I don't know if it will. It might. I'll have to think about it. I think he had to go to the SW office this morning so I'll ring in a while maybe. Yesterday was a crappy day for me.

Reminds me of the time I was doing my Open Water qualification and the instructor proudly told us his wife had just had a baby, and they were calling him Jack. "Oh that's my dog's name," says I. He wasn't too impressed.

Serves him right for being so unoriginal, that was around 2002 when every second boy born in this country was called Jack.

My grandparents' next door neighbours have a child called Oscar.
I brought Osky over to them one day.
The neighbours weren't impressed when I was calling him ;)

It's still in the top five names. I have a first name that is extremely common, I hate it. I would never give a child such a popular name!

Ne're shall there be a child named Jack in our family, as Jack was the dog and it will always be a dog's name to us. He was born during Italia 90 and was named after Jack Charlton. Lived til he was 17, fair play to him.

That's why I love mine. It may be impossible for people to pronounce or spell but it's always a talking point and always something I can be proud of.

I'm never taking advice from here again :P
I went to sleep to try clear my head for my essay. Only just woke up...

I have 6 hours to get this done. Go go go!

I know someone with a dog called Rachel.

I also know someone with a dog called Charlie... and a son called Cathal. It would have been the other way around if they arrived in the opposite order...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,931 ✭✭✭Ilyana

If we hadn't called our dog Archie, I would have seriously considered it for a son I may have had in the far distant future. So now I'mma go with Theodore :)

My first name is more common in the UK, not so much here. Still, it's kinda classic and there wasn't a pile of others with the same name in school.

I thought the name I chose for Pancake was nice and original for France, while also being easily pronounced. Teenaged cousins (female) love it cos one of One Direction has the same name, and they are huge over here.

Enzo is the most popular boys name here, don't like it at all.

I have just googled One Direction to work out which name you picked! :D

Enzo...? That just makes me think of a chipper in Ennis!

One Direction all have nice names actually, so whichever one it is, good choice :)

My cousin called her little boy Henry, which I love. Classic boys names are far better than the likes of Morgan, Kai, Jayden etc.

Enzo Ferrari!! We've had many a pet snail and pet rock called Enzo. My son is obsessed with Ferrari.

Yeah, no problem if you've an Italian family name, but IMO it sounds a wee bit silly with other surnames.

Actually the name I picked for pancake is getting more popular now, it's seen as sort of "exotic", similarly to Killian. I discovered it's a popular skanger name here! Eep!

Pancake's second name is Morgan! Admittedly it's more of a classic first name here than in Ireland. His third name is so nerdy, I can't even say what it is! :)

Oh noes, sorry if I insulted you and Pancake :o I guess it's just not so classic over here. I wanna know his third one now...I'm thinking it's one of the characters from The Big Bang Theory :pac:

My middle name classically goes pretty well with my first name. Until a movie about someone of the same name being exorcised was brought out :(

A friend of mine had a fish called Cormac.

I like animals with people names.

I cannot concentrate today with nicotine withdrawals.

My strange first name combined with my ridiculous surname make for interesting times in Ireland, and even more interesting times in France! Love my name though, I really do.

When my brother was in primary school, in a class of 20 students there were 7 with his name. His was spelled differently to all of them though!

Am I the only one who doesn't like New Years?? I just don't see the point really. I think we're staying in this year because we only get home the morning of the 29th, and have a wedding afters that day so I reckon we'll still be wrecked on the 31st

Haha I had to look up One Dorection names too - only knew Niall!

The only other people I know with my name are my auntie, my granny and someone off coronation st - my parents were very original. Would get confusing when all 3 of us were in the house together!

Caroline I know it's no consolation at all but I think you're a remarkable woman, and you've been so strong (lurker in ttc thread). I really admire you and I hope you feel a little bit better soon x x

"Source at least five journal articles that discuss the main characteristics of Modernism".

Journal articles that deal with deal with literary modernism as a general movement are shockingly hard to find. They're all discussing specific writers or books.

Kill me now. I've been at this for three days and I still only have three articles sourced.

I think I've met one or two people with my name and only as an adult.

I can't concentrate because I am so woozy with this cold. Stupid thing.
I just got over the last one and I'm taking vitamins

I don't mind NY. I never make a fuss about it or anything but I'll be glad to be spending it in SF this year, it could be pretty fun.

I'm sick of those kind of names! A load of girls that I went to school with have named their kids stupid names like Jayden and Mason, etc. Though an award has to go to the one who named her daughter Shaneice... That was a new and ridiculous one! Thank god she didn't have a son!

I swear, I'm starting to think that more babies have come out of my year than college degrees. It's kind of depressing. (nothing against those of you who have had babies young, I just think it's a pity that so many of my classmates have had babies so young and with no college education - yea, I'm a snob!)

My plans for new year are the same as my plans for last new year and all the new years before.

Also, I just googled One Direction and none of them are called Pancake so I think Ivy is lying.

I think those celebrity-inspired names are awful, I really hope they're not considered classics in a generation's time :( Shaniece is shocking! Then again, I know a girl whose mother let her take Beyonce as a confirmation name. No joke. I thought I was being exotic with Aimee.

I don't think that being a teenage mother necessarily means you forfeit the ability to go to college though. Well if you don't want to go, fair enough. But you can always go back as a mature student when the child is older, if you so wish. I know two girls who had babies at 18 and 19. One is in second year of college and another has just qualified as a primary school teacher. But to be fair, their families were able to support them financially and with child care, a lot of others aren't so lucky.
